I was honestly surprised how long you went without having any issues with filming on ice. I've had my fair share of run ins with stingy refs not wanting me wearing mine, and I think it's pretty bogus tbh. It'll definitely take some time for the national hockey bodies to change their rules, but I think it's going to happen eventually. For the time being it's a good idea for you to keep up filming your roller hockey and pick up games and I can't wait for those! You pioneered GoPro Hockey and inspired me to start uploading my own. This just means you now have more room on your channel for other new & awesome content 👍

CBRboy1717 couldn't have said it better. We stopped playing in the league and started renting ice. Rules are rules but maybe police the league appropriately for ringers and have at least one more ref who can skate........ and drop the puck on a face off. It stopped being about fun a long time ago and every game was game 7 for the cup

Like when I complained about half the division having double headers this last session, and the other half not having one. So it's fair to those 5 teams that are dead exhausted after playing 5 periods of hockey and then (we) blow a 3 goal lead to lose. It fell on deaf ears when I mentioned it.

Watching your videos, roller and ice, has helped me improve my game tremendously. I’ve only been playing hockey for 2 years and skating for 4, but I watch other, better players to see what I can improve on. I’m going into my third year with 2 peewee tourney championships, a finals appearance and a combined 30 goals and 60-something assists. I also made a 13U travel team. Okay I understand the GoPro not being allowed, it does come off the helmet a lot and it could hit someone in the face or something like that. Cutting a hole in your helmet and doing it that way was bound to come to an end but you’re totally right. They have the cameras now that refs in the nhl wear and you seriously don’t even notice that it’s there. There should be no reason why you can’t record the hockey you play unless the team you’re playing doesn’t want to be recorded. That is simply their right. No doubt videos like this from you and so many others here on KZbin grow the game and make kids wanna play hockey. Hopefully the change happens and yourself along with other people that make videos aren’t affected. Go get em Nasher!

Still playing and still using the same equipment I used when I was 14 (that makes my equipment 23 years old minus the skates and helmet) . You will figure out how to record the ice hockey. You should buy the hockey helmet camera which is better then a GoPro which refs wouldn’t notice it all (depending on your helmet choice) the price is roughly 50-80 but worth the money to never get told off from the refs. (I am not sponsoring anything)

Nasher, I record my games on GoPro. I ran into issues with the league, I’m a mechanic in Detroit so I was thinking of creative solutions. I know this sounds stupid, but i built a GoPro holder so that the GoPro would record inside my breisers. The camera peaks out just above my waist line and I held together by a couple of zip ties and Velcro straps.

To be completely fair in your case the GoPro can also be used to send the league dirty plays that happened during games to get the fair jurisdiction for them. Also I hope you eventually find an indoor roller rink again, I loved watching those videos and can’t wait for the new ones!

This is honestly a load of BS. The commissioner has the discretion of what to enforce and what not to enforce. You don't even have to follow USA hockey, it's just easy for rinks to use their rules rather than make up their own. It's beer league not junior hockey. Beer leagues aren't even sanctioned leagues.Honestly if they;re going to be that anal about the rules then why do you have guys in this league not wearing shoulder pads? Are they checking to make sure every helmet has the HECC certified sticker and is up to date? Do the goaltenders have their equipment checked and signed off? I doubt they do any of this but yet it's required by USA hockey. The league doesn't want you making money off of it, it's that simple. The rink itself has the power on whether or not you can record not the league commissioner.

Ben Cunningham Rule 304 Protective Equipment - Not all protective equipment is mandatory in all age classifications. (c) All players, including goalkeepers, in all age classifications EXCEPT ADULTS, are required to properly wear a HECC approved helmet as designed by the manufacturer and with no alterations and chin strap properly fastened. Players in the Adult classification must wear a hockey helmet (including non-HECC approved) with chin strap properly fastened. Adult beer leagues arent required by USAH to wear shoulder pads or HECC approved helmets, however they are strongly recommended. As well as visors/full face shields, mouthguards, etc...but in kids leagues they are required and mandatory. Rule 305 - Dangerous Equipment is most likely where the issue of GoPro's on helmets falls under, but it also can be considered a "alteration" of the helmet itself. Rule 305 prohibits even gloves that have the palms cut or removed to allow the use of your bare hand on your stick.

I have beer league footage on my channel. I'm from Edmonton Alberta Canada and some leagues allow it. I play on 2 different leagues where 1 allows me to record with my uhwk but the other doesn't allow me because "legal" reasons and the fact that the helmet is no longer Hockey Canada approved due to the "modification" of the helmet.
