THE END of Part 1 - Chapter 35 Story Recap | Honkai Impact 3rd

As the plan to reclaim the Earth continues, some people are still trapped in the dreams woven by Project Stigma and refuse to give up their idyllic lives inside the illusion of Stigmata. To combat that, our heroes are forced to jump straight into the dreamland and awaken the hopeless populace, while also evading Kevin, who is there to observe humanity's dreams.
To fight him on an even foot, Kiana seizes the Authority of Finality and becomes the new Herrscher of Finality. The clash between two ideals representing two different Eras, old and new, is about to take place above the Moon inside the Usurper's Throne. Kevin is finally ready to move on and pass the torch to them! The only question remains: How will the new Goddess choose to embrace the Earth?
This video is a recap of Chapter 35 from Honkai Impact 3rd. This chapter represents the end of the first major Part of the story, and also the end of Kiana Kaslana's journey. The events pick up right after Chapter 34 and present the last moments of the conflict between two different Eras and humanity and Honkai.

Kinda bittersweet. Lamda part is kinda cringe and deus ex machina. Also the end is too safe and stupid... I know mihoyo won't make kiana's separation permanent because fearing the huge backlash from CN players and opens up new possibilities for future plot. If the separation is transient and they will keep contact with each other why bronya have to cry? If Kevin returns to his dream why is Can there? Can is only manifestasion of Pardo's data in ER and I'm sure real Kevin doesn't know is existence since he never enters the realm.

Not really. I had to watch your (awesome) videos to understand what really was happening in the last chapters, and even now when it's more clear, I really don't like all that metaphorical systems of Honkai like dreams, narratives and ideas, not even mentioning Ai Lambda, the first character I actually hate in honkai universe. I will always pretend that the player stuff and 4th wall breaking didn't happen, but the ending wasn't exciting for me at all and I just wanted it to end already while playing. Dissapointing

A couple of small but thoughtful bits were missed out, such as the one formerly known as Raven walking in on Kevin, and stepping on ice teardrops (implying Kevin cried only after Prometheus left, since his tears freeze instantly). But it was overall a very good summary!

There were definitely some weird, or outright silly and dumb moments, but overall I really liked it. The stuff with saying goodbye and Kevin finally being able to see his friends again got me. @@reneko when Ai was put down to a dream by Gray Serpent, she said that she had already done everything she wanted to do and that now girls could do everything even without her help. it seemed that she didn't plan to return from the dream either. although Ai can see the results, but as she said, she also sees many different ways how they could have achieved it, so she definitely saw the future where the girls defeat Kevin alone, where they do it with her help and etc., and then just chose the best of these options and deсided to help them one last time

For me the 4th wall break kinda made sense, cause the final arc was dealing with fiction and narratives. The game is itself a narrative, so how does that play into those themes? The 4th wall break, for me addressed that.

The importance of narratives also comes to play in Genshin, as seen in Scaramouche's interlude quests. Even if the narrative change to fill the blanks, the end result is still the same. Based on the end of the Archon quest, it's likely the endgame of Teyvat's storyline is their own version of Finality.

@@vanessachowjiaying4423at the end of genshin we will likely do battle with the unknown god from the opening cutscene - this god looks suspiciously like HoV imo; especially considering how different the Raidens are, and how Neuvillette calls the Archons and UG 'usurpers', it's possible. And HSR has a mysterious Aeon of Finality who technically set all the events of the game in motion through telling Elio, leader of the Stellaron Hunters, exactly what was to be done. One of these actions included ensuring the Trailblazer got a suspiciously familiar baseball bat that they became specifically attached to even after being granted a weapon directly from the Aeon of Preservation. In each game, there is a duo of characters, yet only one remains for various reasons - in HI3, Kevin fades away. In Genshin, the sibling who was not chosen by the player gets imprisoned and does not appear for the majority of the game. And in Star Rail, the Trailblazer is simply designed to be male or female at the player's discretion (although in-lore the decision was made by Kafka) - the one who wasnt chosen simply got deleted by Silver Wolf, aka the gamer half of HI3 Bronya. Also, Kiana claimed that the process would take 5-10 years which is how long Genshin (the Teyvat Chapter at least) and potentially Star Rail (part 1?) are predicted to get story updates for

Let's be a bit thoughtful for a second, I think despite how cheesy or unnecessary the inclusion of the captains in the story, I think that part is meant to be a love letter at least to us as players who have been playing the game for a long while. Its definitely not executed well for sure, but I can personally appreciate that gesture. Even if say we take that part out of the story, at least it still makes sense without it. That said, this was one heck of a ride! From Kiana being an idiotka at the first chapters of the story and we've come full circle to her becoming the Herrscher of Finality.

I came back to the game a couple of weeks ago, after I quit back in 2019 due to some impossibly bad pulls. I was curious to see not just how much the game had evolved but how the story would end (back when I quit, it was right before Durandal was introduced). Right now I'm halfway through the Elysian Realm arc and I think that this time, I'm quitting this game for good. And unlike last time, when I quit only after accomplishing everything the game had to offer up until that point, this time I'm not going to bother. Not only do I feel completely exhaused after spending hours upon hours clearing limited and non limited time content that I don't enjoy and only play through just to get some resources that I desperately need, which are still nowhere near enough to get me up to speed compared to players who stuck with the game since the beginning... Most importantly, I can no longer appreciate the story, which is what got me into it in the first place. I liked the Nagazora arc and the Theater of Domination arc wasn't half bad AND I even enjoyed the Herrscher of Ice arc. But for me, the story gets progressively worse since Kolkosten. I despite overused sci-fi concepts like time travel, multiple universes and imaginary spaces being used as storytelling tools, for I think are cheap tools used by lesser storytellers to convolute their stories and make them appear deep when they're really not. As if having tons of dialogue referencing people, places or organisations that don't appear on screen wasn't enough before, now we also have a huge amount of dialogue dedicated to explaining how the convoluted sci-fi stuff works. This leaves little to no room for substantial character develoment (or at least I don't accept what's given to us during the latest chapters as substantial development). The last straw was the Elysian Realm arc, which in my opinion is a complete disaster. There are some neat moments, but there is simply no way to add 13 brand new characters and have them undergo substantial development in a few chapters. Add to that the fact that one of the characters (Vill-V) has half a dozen different personalities for some reason (another problem I have with this game-every evil character inside a heroine's head is relegated to being a different entity instead of being a part of the real heroines themselves, which would've made for far more mature storytelling), and also the fact that this is just an imaginary place that is unable to affect the story happenning outside of it (all it does is provide a backstory for Kevin) and I simply cannot care for the story anymore. I watched all of your videos explaining the story from the Elysian Realm arc until this chapter in hope that it gets better and I'm afraid it only keeps getting worse. Not only do new characters keep showing up until the end when the game should've been polishing the ones already there (the cast is insanely overbloated as it is), but the sci-fi stuff gets way out control and in doing so the pace at which the story told is cranked up to eleven, At this point, they're just throwing in random scientific concepts and adding in some philosophical concepts and moral dilemmas that were examined by other media far sooner in far greater detail. Simply put, this game turns into a complete clusterfuck. I was curious to see how the story ends (as far as I'm concerned, the end of Kiana's journey is the end of the game-few storytellers can take a story where the protagonist has achieved their goal and continue it without the story collapsing in terms of quality, and for me the story of Honkai already collapsed during the Elysian Realm arc). I was looking for motivation and now I'm even more disappointed. But nevertheless, I am grateful for people like you, people who went through the entire thing and made videos of it so the rest of us can keep up. So, thank you for making this video.

This may be a dumb question, but, I've always have had this question in the back of my mind ever since finishing the story... Kiana is trapped on the moon because she can't descend on Earth etc... and she will help scientists with their studies and whatnot.... but couldn't Tesla, AE and/or Shicksal just repair Hyperion or build another one capable of reaching the moon? So they can visit Kiana from time to time, and she doesn't have to wait the entire ten years before she can see her friends again?

Kiana said that the Herrscher cores will dim and disappear because of the siphoning effect of the power of Finality. Could you explain to me what this effect is? The second question is she said that when the time comes that humans use honkai as a real tool they will be as powerful as Herrschers. I want to know like how is that even possible?

Not sure about the first question but I can answer the second question, after Kiana absorb cocoon of Finality to gain completed Herrscher of Finality she will mastering her power on the moon and continuously get research by Scientist for executed the second project Selene to turn honkai energy into harmless energy to the point that normal human can use

Whether or not the ending would have been "better" without the inclusion of Ai-chan and the captains, I'm glad that at least they gave it a logical basis within the framework of the story instead of just having it happen with no explanation whatsoever. Also, considering the trio's actions in defiance of project stigma were all about convincing humanity to decide to embrace the future and not be stuck in the past, I think it's rather fitting that Kevin as the representative of stigma and the past was defeated by that collective wish. Honestly reminds me of the ending of Code Geass with Lelouch asking the collective unconscious will of humanity to choose the future over the past. As Bronya said, "Humanity will change the world according to its own will".

I somewhat hated the ending and all those dumb plot holes they left behind and some plot holes they tried to fix with inconsistent explanations. To me this feels like something written by someone else in a rush to tie everything up. Retcon of herrscher personas do not make sense. I refuse the existance of lambda in main story as it's both extremelly corny and overall dumb. Mei and Kiana's powerups wasn't impactful enough for me to be satisfied about them. Some stuff like what is the goal of honkai is still not explained throughly. Some terms like chimera and cocoon was not explained at all despite being core objects. What took to defeat the honkai is extremelly insulting to previous era and all those amazing minds like mobius dr mei and vill-v. Kevin could have done the exact same thing in previous era. Like come on cocoon didn't even care Kiana wanted to hijack it and stop it from embracing humanity forever. This is another case of retcon of herrscher personas hurting honkai ending. Retcon of herrscher personas also retcons the sacrifice of Elysia and the fact that CE Herrscher cores are alive with a singularity on them. Kevin was defeated purely by deus ex machina with a 4th wall break. Kevin had chimera project stigma and partial control over finality. This was definitely more than enough for him to be stronger than partial hofi kiana hoo and hotr. But in the last moment another element was introduced which was "wishes of players". This is as corny and deus ex machina as dawei manifesting himself and choosing kiana over kevin to inherit the finality. Which in a sense is exactly what happened. Having inconsistencies and deus ex machinas do not make a story horrible though. Philosophical conflicts made the story for me and i loved every bit of a new point of view it presented to me. But trying to whiteknight a hack shitting up a plot made by a genius just for sales and rushing people to start the next big thing is not acceptable. All these years i have seen the ending coming and was excited about it. I will not allow a hack to butcher it up for profits.

The ending to Honkai part 1 is just as disappointing as the ending to AOT. And yet people still call Honkai's story a masterpiece, WTF.

@@HomuLabs Sorry but I can't look past the fact that the Hyperion breaking Kevin's shield because of the captains was a Deus Ex Machina and Kiana being a Neet for 10-15 years as the price to beat a god to save humanity feels insulting to those who died in the Previous Era. I can respect your opinion on the ending, but that's how I feel about the ending.

Ending was somewhat bad but judging an entire story just by its ending is something gravely wrong. I myself hated every bit of retcon and inconsistency and 4th wall breaking to my very fiber but i still cried when i saw kiana parting away and kevin getting in his grave.
