To make it clear this is “The End” movie. Physical Media forever. Prince Purple Rain 4K/Bluray steelbook review.
I recommend that none of my immediate family ever watch my channel especially if you are easily offended about me speaking about my life. Mercari switched to no seller fees, which means the buyer has to pick up the bill. Just goes to show you how much insanity the seller has to pay on the back end. I over collected for years. I was not happy at all, and i think i used it to cope. I still collect, but i am selling a ton and trying to be more selective with my buying. It feels much better to have a more curated collection. Also much less expensive.

I am 100% with you on Mercari and I won’t be paying their outrageous price. I think it’s sneaky the way they give you a price and then hit you with the fees. As far as my collection. It is completely out of control, but I can’t get rid of even the old DVDs because of my past with VHS. I had a crazy VHS collection. Thousands and I traded them all in at FYE for store credit to upgrade to dvd. They gave me a few bucks a title. Now with Nostalgia and grading. That collection would have been worth a ton. Totally kicking myself. Ives seen sealed VHS tapes go for a lot on EBay. It might be just a faze, but I do miss the look and feel of the VHS. If I still had them. I probably would’ve built a fake video store in my basement by now. Like a lot of sentimental collectors do now. Brings you back to the rental days.

Macari wants the buyers to pay all the fees that the seller used to pay it not good. Over collecting is a form of hoarding I’ve got thousands of movies and the sad truth is it’s a form of hoarding 😢

I know you said you’re not a big fan of steel books that being said do you have a recommendation of steel book protectors? I have a few and I’m thinking it might be a good idea to get some, but I’m cautious because some inferior plastics might actually be able to damage the steel book. So any recommendation you can make based on your experience would be appreciated.

I had a viewer recommend some covers a while back, but honestly I just put them in regular “DvD” bags because they don’t fit in the Blu-ray bags. The thin plastic case (like the ones for vhs tapes) are just too expensive for what they are. I believe it was like 20 for $30. That just seems steep. So unfortunate I can’t recommend protectors. But if you are still interested. eBay has them under “Steelbook plastic protectors” They seem like they would do the job. Just I just bought 2000 plastic Blu-ray bags and paid $30 dollars. That’s worth the money.

Glad you're doing well. I've been a bit depressed myself. I'm better today but it got rough earlier in the week. I buy cds too. I hope you have a great week. I remember 8 tracks! I totally feel ya. I had to go back to therapy. I think with age? I just can’t keep it together. I’ve been a caregiver since 7 for my brother and it hasn’t stopped yet. I don’t even know who I am half the time. I’m busy being everything for everybody.

Not all MOD (Made on demand) are bootleg for instance, many Warner archives movies only are available from them on mod. It is a way for studios to make something available without mass producing front and a whole lot of copies so they make them in smaller quantities as demand warrants..

I agree with you. In fact I have a Three Stooges video coming up and I have an “Archive” vid that were mad on demand by Amazon, but those are from a legitimate company and licensed from the owners to do so. These EBay guys are bootleggers. It’s just burnt off of a computer. Stolen in my opinion and the people that really did the work don’t see a dime. I don’t support that stuff. I am a strange dude. I want the families and the people who put the work In to make my buck. I always think of the poor Stooges who died poor. So I will buy mods but only if they are licensed to legally produce them.

I went to see the movie last night and although I definitely will be buying the sequel to complete the collection. I really didn’t care for the movie. It just seemed rushed. Like it could have been a straight to video or Disney release. I’m not going to give away any spoilers but as much as I like the baby and own the life size Beatlejuice from Spirts. Think the Neca baby for $162 after tax and shipping? Maybe I need to watch the movie again with fresh eyes and an open mind. I just felt the build up and I was a little let down. It just seemed rushed and I wanted a different story. It just seemed very familiar and predictable.

It does seem like a good deal. After you watch the movie. You will see the significance of “baby Beetlejuice” then you might understand better. Advice…Watch the original prior to going and watch Michael Keaton’s performance. I’m not going to ruin anything for you. If you were new to the character and franchise. You will probably love it, but if you are a long time fan. To the point where you can do an impression of the original and quote it. You are going to notice something. That’s all I’m going to say. I have a feeling the baby is going to be worth a lot in the future just because the lack of interest. I don’t think they will sell or make many. That would be the only reason for my purchase. Not because of being a fan of the sequel.

In terms of the steel book, why do you want the 4K and Blu-ray together when you already have them especially if you’re not going to open the new one? I guess it’s back to double and triple dipping on things which obviously you’re not the only collector that does that. Since you mostly shop online, I wonder how much you pay in postage alone. 🤢 I do the same thing so sometimes it ends up not really saving a lot of money but as you say there’s less and less places, you can go get it in person at anyway

Great question? Quick answer. I don’t know? My friend you have been watching me for a long time. I have no idea why I do the things I do. Honestly I have watched maybe four 4K movies this entire year. Blu-ray is my media of choice. But then that double case comes out? Honestly this sounds a “Next therapy question” and I really don’t care for steelbooks. I like the original art and most steelbooks get this new artwork that I usually absolutely hate. I think the are looks lazy sometimes. Think about the original Art. Example Goonies original artwork is a work of art. Steelbook you get the coin? I think or One eyed Willy. I really do have buying issues.

@@meltingmovies1945 I agree and understand on the artwork issue case in mind when they originally released the Indiana Jones steel books on those awful white cases, I refuse to get them. Luckily, my patients paid off and they re-issued them with the original artwork with fairly good looking cases so in that case, if someone really wanted the original artwork instead of the white ones, I kinda understand why they might double dip by the ones and then maybe try and recoup some money off the white ones. The problem is I think we are similar where even though we double dip we don’t seem to get rid of the other ones. At least I don’t point. I have approximately 3 to 400 laser disks that I never watch so I think I need to go to therapy with you. 😂😂😂

I don’t get rid of anything. I own that white set, but bought the Blu-ray edition separately just for the original art. I didn’t need the 4K because I don’t really watch them anyway. That ugly steelbook collection houses the 4Ks. I can say I have it on 4K but the price of the Blu-ray’s with original art were a lot cheaper. Now anyway. In a few months you might see me unboxing the 4Ks 😂 it’s an issue. I’m trying to work it out.
