Nothing wrong about getting license for driving an RV. In Europe you need a license above 3.5T (7000lbs) and it does not deter people from getting RVs. You just get that towing license, it's a life time license.

Most of these city ordinances are in constitutional and need to be sued for prohibited freedom of travel
@SharmClucas25 күн бұрын
I hope you didn't drink the Sovereign Citizen Kool-aid, because it's a con. The right to travel has nothing to do with vehicles. It just means that if you personally want to change location from one state to another you can. Vehicles can totally be restricted and always have been. Your right to travel hasn't changed because you can always walk. Besides, the best way to fight restrictive laws is through voting for good, upstanding people. Fighting through lawfare only works for the very rich and corrupt, and often (thankfully) not even then.
@KroutanYoutan22 күн бұрын
Say it isn't so, Joe. A world without RVs would be like a world without eyebrows. And you have to admit, you have a huge investment in both.

RVs are used as housing and Governments don't like people without an fixed address. Not only for homeless, there are Snowbirds, Digital Nomands and other wealthy people which live in RVs.
@jerrybrooks87023 күн бұрын
Cities can't collect property taxes from people without a permanent address, and they don't like that.
@sebastiant569522 күн бұрын
@@jerrybrooks870 this on many other layers. Political party are super unhappy for districts with large transient populations. (Snowbirds - Arizona, Florida - and another northern state - where do you vote) It throws of their algorithm's. There are estimate 10 million people living in RVs. Since you don't have the large friction of moving/registering somewhere - that could change election.

we have another problem here in europe. like they park next to roads and destroy plants, off road is prohibited in many countries. grass, wild flowers just so they can have a good view from the caravan / mobile home. seam means that the landowner either closes the road or puts obstacles by a lake so they can't park too close to the beach, the beach and nature are for everyone but you mustn't destroy it. it is those who misbehave who destroy those who follow the rules. then comes the whining from those who misbehave when roads are closed etc. and think it's ridiculous. photograph and report those who misbehave so that maybe one day they will change their behavior. but that is not likely. I don't think it's possible to cure people who don't care.

I hadn’t jumped in to make a comment. As a retired truck driver I do think this typical person that is going to drive a motorhome pulling a trailer should probably have to take some classes to get an endorsement to understand air brakes hydraulic electric, all the stuff that goes along with towing trailers. Of course it turned he should get a break on his insurance and stuff. Well let’s see how it goes. I just bought a new 26 foot trailer.

I've gone through 4 different rigs in the 30+ years I have been RVing. Started with a Class C...went to a travel trailer...then 40ft fifth wheel and now back down to a 34ft Class C. I think you may be right when it comes to RVs in the future. I hate agreeing with you but the reality is America is changing. I think RVs will slowly fade away when the generation that trully appreciated the "open road" concept dies off. RVs are expensive to buy...expensive to maintain and expensive to operate. For how much they get used they just arnt worth it anymore. I can fly anywhere in the country and get a nice hotel room for 80% cheaper than it would cost me to drive my Class C there...and I don't need to set up or break down anything. It is what it is...I will continue to take my Class C to the desert and enjoy my solitude. But the reality is...for what I spend a month owning this thing...the payment, insurance, maintenance and gas...I can take a vacation someplace different every month if I wanted and be spoiled by the staff at those locations. 😢

I'm hoping that your predictions about the end of RVing are not correct. However, you do make some valid points to its demise. Like you, we're going to RV like it's going to end next year. Well, here in Michigan, it is required to have a special endorsement on your drivers license to tow TURDUCKEN. To obtain the "Double R" endorsement to your drivers license requires a written test and a $10 fee.

There will be campers. I see self contained units. I could build a cargo camper cheaper than the RV industry without using RV components. Air Fryers, induction burners, induction microwaves, mini split air conditioners, solar power, toilet incinerators and electric water heaters; tiny home living is unfolding with extreme efficiency. It’s just going to change. In 1984 the average gasoline car engine was good for 84,000 miles. My 1982 truck got 14 miles highway to a gallon. My 2017 with a more powerful engine gets almost 23 highway miles to a gallon. And hoping to get 200,000 miles.
@jerrybrooks87023 күн бұрын
There were plenty of 1984 vehicles that got more than 200,000 miles on them before needing any major repairs. It all depends on how you took care of them. My 1959 Chevy truck has over a million miles on it. Modern vehicles with computers are designed so that when the computer self destructs, no matter how good the rest of the vehicle is, it's not worth fixing. They are designed to have to be replaced every five years or so. Older vehicles were designed to be easily and cheaply repaired and kept longer.
@HCDarrellBroussard21 күн бұрын
@ not disputing there were plenty to do that. In 1983 I was in a two year training program and the statistics we were told 84,000 was average. My father put 35,000 a year high way miles. It was maintained. They were usually rag out in 3 years. Transmission slipping and motor knocking just to name a few. I very seldom seen anything with higher mileage than a little over a hundred thousand miles.

There is something else a lot of people don't realize. The RVIA is getting campgrounds to not let people in unless their RV has an RVIA sticker on it. It is nearly impossible to start up a new RV company and become a member of RVIA from day 1 . . . so those RVs won't be allowed in campgrounds. That essentially means no new manufacturers, essentially giving the current manufacturers who are members of RVIA a monopoly. This will result in increasing price, while choice, features, and quality decline. That will turn a lot of people away from trying the lifestyle, or make people leave the lifestyle.
@RVingWithJoe25 күн бұрын
I believe they do so through the insurance companies, so the insurance companies require it.

I like your channel Joe, but I have to start with you live in Canada now, why would you mention Trump coming in to office at the start? He’s not the president of the world and has nothing to do with prices or situations in Canada. And Canada, you ever heard of Edison motors and their electric truck kits they are coming out with for upgrading current and older trucks? I believe they are in BC. Look it up if you’re worried about gas becoming too expensive for camping. And as a truck driver I have my CDL A unrestricted and have believed that people should have extra training to drive the fifth wheels and larger class RV’s, even before I got my CDL.
