I feel that AI is both helping and hurting. Helping, because it can remove some blocks or barrier to entry into the music that is being made. Hurting because it can also be a crutch for not following your own instincts or intuition on the music making path or journey.

Sample purist 4 life! I love finding different stuff, from the most unusual places, and in doing so I often discover an artist or genre of music I may not have paid attention to. I enjoy the challenge of transforming a sample into something practically unnoticeable from its original state. Nothing against those who want to embrace AI but I love the "art" of sampling

There is room for both. Huge part of sampling for me is that I will listen to all these amazing (and shit) records I would otherwise not bother to listen to. And, oh the joy of finding those cool 2 bars on the whole record is a rush! I will definitely give a try to Output as well for creative gaps, or to find a specific bit that I am missing in a track I am working on. Sampling will not die.

its totally helping. I work in a design agency and it has massively improved our output. We can smash out moodboards and ideas so much quicker now. Instead of having to sketch and 3d model things we can just stick our ideas down in words and get some instantly. We still sketch and model but its a brilliant tool for getting ideas down quickly.

I think Ai could be a helpful depending how's its being used (like in mastering for example). If the Ai just creates the song on its own what's the artist doing at that point? I did pick up glaze for NI while it's free and it's so cool.
@mkII.

@@princecynebaldEl3164 Yeah most of the time I think beat makers make a decent track, but it sounds off because they don't know how to properly master it. If the Ai can take that many hours long headache out of the equation like Izotope's Ozone 10 for example. It's saving so much time. Granted as a music producer you should learn how to mix and master a track but it's hard enough learning how to use the daw or gear just by itself. People go to school just to learn mastering.

AI isnt creating the song in this instance, its creating samples and sample packs based on your specific prompts. You still have to make the beats yourself. If you try it with an open and creative mind you can easily see the usefulness without relying on this to make the beats for you.

He may say it's not to "replace" musicians, but imagine this tech in 10 or 15 years. It definitely will be adopted en masse and it will replace second rate sample pack producers, or people with less skill. Demand and ease of use will drive it and it will become adopted. Not just this either, but in 10-15 years (or sooner) there will be tech that will generate complex music tracks off of text prompts. People will be creating all their own music for their content without having to approach musicians in any genre or higher skill level. My advice for anyone wanting to not be left behind is to learn your craft and then harness this technology before you are left behind.

It’s completely amazing. And time 4 me to hang up the beat game. I have seen technological leaps overtime. The software daw. How few producers there were and would be without daws. Makes it to accessible. Then came the boot camps, sample packs, producer kits. I know how this goes, ai is going to be making all the music in a few years tops. My problem was I didn’t adapt to the reality of technology years ago. I thought we were still in 2006 where sample packs were a no-no and it was all about having ya own thing. I think ai will probably be making more creative sounding music then we have today. Be like the chess computer vs the man. Eventually it beats him.

It’s not all doom and gloom. If music creation is handed to the robots whats stopping it from taking pilots, lawyers, construction, customer service etc jobs? It will be our job to steer AI. @@grobinson4805 well I got into making beats, because it evolved learning things that were hard to do. At the time the rewards were great! Ppl would say you were amazing for a simple 2 bar loop you made. But in those days even that took a lot to do. So telling a computer how to make the music, makes my skills obsolete. I have no doubt that the ai makes my basic keyboard skills seem trivial. I spent years learning them tho. Also what about the practicalities? If we are just telling an ai to make music. There will be zillions of beats in existence. Maybe even quantilions of beats. As someone could say to the ai, make me 500 beats all better then that beat I like. If you see in the video, he just typed jazzy chords, piano. So there is not going to be that much piloting to do. Also who would ever listen to someone else’s music? You can just ask for your own to be made? Being praised for asking a robot to make a beat. I mean how would that work?

I am gonna start by saying I honestly hate this AI trend going on, but I have to concede it is bringing some interesting things to the table too. My question with something like this is what is the catch? I mean they made an AI program that makes sounds that are "free" but is there the chance they left something in the TOS that could make them the owners of any sounds made using their system? I won't deny it isn't a neat piece of technology and really gets around the legality of sample clearing but it also leaves some questions in the air.

I'm POSITIVE it will improve but, for now, the sample packs that Co-Producer spits out aren't really usable samples +for me+. They're pretty flat (in terms of dynamics) and "elevator music-y". Like... it knows what a "sad chord" is but it doesnt know which notes to emphasize or sustain, etc. It can't extract an "emotion" from the notation and it's just sorta uninspiring. I think this is interesting, but I can't help but feel as if it takes away the fun and creativity of sampling. What's the point of expressing creativity if your very first step is to use an ai generated sample or piece of music? For me, part of actually producing is FINDING and working with music I have never heard before. It's so satisfying to go to a record store and buy a cheap, weathered, album and going through the entire thing to find a sample that you can make a dope beat with. With that said, I do not think this will ever replace sampling. Another part of sampling is finding the original track and exploring the history of it. The AI sample is very cool and amazing that we were able to create music from prompts and codes, but you gotta admit, It's a bit soulless.

Honestly I don’t approve of AI involving in any genre in music however if it helps the producer out then I guess it’s the new tool to help use

I dislike this as much as I dislike sampling. The A.I is actually generating music from a pool of thousands of songs,it’s not from thin air. Sampling is using others works, even if it’s snippets.

If it really is AI generated, I think it could be a great tool. Because I'm not one who would like to deal with splits if me and the other producer or producers didn't officially collab on the track. That's something that I would need to do if I bought somebody's sample pack and the beat gets placed. But I'm also curious about where the sounds are sourced from. Can it really generate unique sounds or is the AI "sampling" from existing loopmakers?

Ai making samples is the future. It doesn’t stop with a single sample or generating a pack. Ai is the future. Sampling is something officially of the past. Ai is a gift from God. Now we can all freely have unique samples from all other producers if we want.

I would only want AI generation for acoustic and synth one shot/VST/plugin type sounds. I’m not interested in loops that have to be chopped.

Its literally no different than using a sample pack that you purchase, except ai generates the samples and its free. You still have to compose your own beats and make your own creative choices.

Ouch. That sample @3:00 is literally ripped from one of Outputs very own Arcades plug-in lines. It sounds likes it wasn’t even altered… Makes me want to use Arcade less, and not even touch the AI plugin, as more people will be using the same samples.
