Ukraine doesn't have enough military personnel to plug the holes in the Donbas and Russia opens up an entirely new front. Ya, no shit Ukraine didn't even protect them

Too early it is indeed, except the Ukrainian command replaced the local command of forces for abandoning their positions instead of standing their ground. So not protecting them was not exactly the plan. They were supposed to at least hold for a few days and give the command time to respond by reinforcing hotspots, since the Ukrainians didn't know exactly where the Russians would hit.
