Hi Kev A few thoughts about some indestructible wheels and tires for your speed runs. Weight, strength and the ability to resist centrifugal force would be very important. As you know a narrower wheel will last a bit longer due to the reduced spin load. The Rubber or foam either tears off or breaks up due to this. Perhaps a much narrower tire say 25mm with a 0 offset wheel combo. Have the wheels made from aluminum that can be hardened/nitrided. The rim outer itself would be on the inside tapered from the center down to the edge, it wouldn't need to be much but a change in diameter of 4mm should be enough. This would give strength where required and keep the weight down. Also help with rolling resistance. Im not sure if the tires are breaking up due to centrifugal force or debris on the road cutting them up but for a solid compound the thinner the better. How about the outer diameter where the tire is glued to the rim being knurled both extra surface area for glue to adhere to. Then use a Very thin solid rubber tire say made from Cushion Gum used to repair full size car tires? They would need to be cut and glued to the rim then machined down to a very thin section say 2~3mm. The rubber will be much denser so in theory will be stronger and the section so small that it will be strong enough to prevent it from flying apart due to centrifugal force because it is isn't as heavy. You would need to test for it's traction ability but given the distance you have to get to speed it should be ok. You could even use steel wheels as I dont think getting the extra unsprung weight up to speed will hurt speed or acceleration enough to matter and due to an added flywheel affect keep the car inline and more resistant to direction change. I would assume the steering servo would easily have enough spare power to move these quickly enough? Regardless, great video and hearing you will be getting on the big stage maybe with you own truck is great news. Good Luck Cheers

The reason why foam is better for speed running is because it weighs so much less. Less angular momentum pulling it out and trying to expand. They're not as durable vs the tarmac but it's not the tarmac you're fighting it's wheel rpm you're fighting

While I've always known you for your shop, I really do think the Isle of Man is an incredible change and I'm so glad that you've been able to move towards your dream. If my math is right, centrifugal force = r w**2, with w = angular speed. But speed = w/r. So cent force = speed**2/r. Therefore bigger radius tire flys apart at faster speed. So use the biggest radius tire you can.
