I'll copy and paste my below comment from his previous video. I've said this before over the years. What makes this chess channel great is each game is told as a story, without giving away the ending. Great clear concise pace, with dry humor added in from time to time. The explanations of the game and possible variations, again well done. I'm sure he can even make the snoozefest games exciting if he chooses. I've watched this channel grow over time and after watching his first monotone drab chess video. I wonder if he imagined he would become the number one chess story teller in the world. Great job, keep up your exceptional work.

I have a question for anyone that sees this, does bishop g5 or knight g5 work at 4:26? The threat is Qh7, Kf8 and Qh8 with forced checkmate if black takes the knight or bishop on g5 with the pawn.

Hey may not have won, but I'm still very impressed by Magnus' overall performance in this event. The pressure on a World Champion in this event must be incredible. Some fantastic games along the way, his 2 Classical games with Wojtaszek, the Conversion vs Tari etc etc

I seem to be pretty new here but why would a bishop sacrifice on 04:34 not work for white?

4:25 why not take h6 with Bishop? Like, it seems like only good things come if knight and bishop are sacrificed to make room for queen and tower attack

12:34 is winning for white. f7 pawn moves two fields, white pawn can take en passant and you can't stop it from becoming a queen because bishop covers e7

5:39 Why not Be3, protecting f2 and solidifying the position? This can be followed up by Re1 to chase black's queen away.

A transposed French Defense which black played very well and deserved to win until the time situation brought on the usual comedy of errors. I am glad it turned out as it did. I think it was a strategic mistake for Carlsen to exchange light squared bishops and then allow a transposition to the French.
