Not true at all. The reason why Smith got destroyed in the end was that Neo was Jacked into the mainframe during that battle. He didn't return to the source for deletion on its own. But when he copied on to the Neo, he got delivered to the source.

I have a couple of other interpretations. Smith and Neo are different sides in an equation. Neo getting stronger equals Smith getting stronger. By killing Neo in the end, one side is getting zero. So the other side had to go zero too. The Oracle knew this and played along, hoping to create a situation that would make the machines willing to accept a truce or peace. The architect / machines did not know this. Hence the ending comment "you played a risky game."

Smith had to infuse his code with Neo's code while Neo's body was jacked into mainframe of Matrix, so that the Machine God could eradicate (through Neo's body) Smith and reboot the Matrix. And only Neo's body could work for that purpose because for some mumbo jumbo reason Neo's body/consciousness on it's own, was linked to machines ''in real world'' on far greater level than any other casual human.

So basically the machines always allow rebels (free humans) and "the one" so that they can seek out the weaknesses of the Matrix. The Rebels think they are beating back the matrix and the machines and freeing mankind but in actuality they are only strengthening the Machines hold on humanity because those rebels showed the machines the weaknesses in their matrix and now the next version of the Matrix (humanity's prison) is that much stronger and harder to fight back against. John Wick series is the sequel to the Matrix. Just like Smith could exit the Matrix in a human body, Neo could copy his mind into the Matrix while his body died and thus continue to exist as a program. Unfortunately, he lost his memories in the process since it was never done before. Nobody knows Neo copied himself so no one can find him, not even the Architect, because when he copied himself and lost his memory, he basically formatted his mind and also lost his The One unique signature so now he's seen by the Matrix as just another program. That's when John Wick starts. It's inside the Matrix and Neo is just trying to adapt. Some of his combat skills were left in his code so he decided the best way to exploit those would be to become an assassin. Why an assassin and not just a Kung Fu trainer or something benevolent? Well, because when he merged with Smith, some of Smith's code was left in him, corrupting him but not entirely. That's why he chose to retire and start a normal family. Explains his almost superhuman combat skills, his bullet sponge abilities, Laurence Fishburne appearing again (it's his mind trying to put itself back together showing him familiar faces) and especially the last scene of John Wick 2, when all the people in the street start watching him, quite a Matrix-y moment if you ask me, like what are the odds that there's a professional hitman every 5 meters in one city?

One thing that wasn't mentioned regarding the final battle with Smith was that the prime Smith had copied over the Oracle, and that Smith was the one fighting Neo. That's why he said "Everything that has a beginning had an end, Neo." It was the Oracle speaking through Smith, encouraging Neo to accept being overwritten by Smith, causing not just a fusion of sorts between Neo and Smith, but also including the Oracle. Upon being overwritten, the machine Mecha sends a fatal virus through Neo's physical body into his form in the Matrix, which has become the prime Smith. This virus corrupts him, amd subsequently all the other Smiths, causing 'splosions, also killing Neo in the process.

It baffles me how everybody simply forget what the Architect told Neo, about the origins of his powers and the fact that he is the "one": the One is just a concentration of several bugs in the Matrix. The Matrix is composed of many systems like time, space, gravity, physics and else. The Architect states that most of these systems have flawns and gliches that cannot simply be fixed (I wonder why), so he just sweep them under the carpet. What he does is to distribute these flawns and bugs on individuals inside the Matrix. The same individual may host more than one of those gliches, and eventually one may be "gifted" with several gliches from the most important systems. Upon gaining conscience of those "gifts", such individual would be able hack the Matrix itself and even scaping it, all the way to the core of the machine. This is the One, the individual who holds the exploits of the major Matrix systems, thus the power to reach (and compromise) its central server. In fact the One having the power to severly crash the Matrix was its the real bug, he was the sum of problems from the most important equations in the Matrix. Upon exploding Smith Neo created another bug, which was also able to hack the Matrix systems. Given that Smith main purpose was to destroy Neo, Neo himself inadvertly created a correction for the bug he was. That's why the Oracle explained him that Smith was just the other side of the equation trying to balance it. Smith was not a problem, he was the correction for the major Matrix bug: Neo. But Smith didn't understand that either, in his head he just wanted to destroy everything, but when he finally destroyed Neo he lost his purpose, he balanced the equation which allowed the Matrix to reboot instead of crashing. In the end the profecy was not about a future where the One would save the humanity from the machines, its real meaning was that the One would cause so much problem in the Matrix that the Machine would have no other way to save it without the help of the humans. Neo being a human asked the machine to spare the humans in Zion, which the machine had no way to refuse since the One had (inadvertly) compromised its security through Smith.

Dome Firmament in a way, it is. Instead of saving us in Zion, we look to ourselves and become aware like ‘oh shit, my actions have consequences upon the world and others... better tread carefully or else...’ it’s not about forgiveness of sins, it’s about becoming self aware through free will and like Jesus, Neo sacrifices himself for others to realise the bigger picture: it’s up to you. He served his purpose and quite literally danced with the devil FOR us and made the devil (in Matrix’s case, Smith) realise that he needs humans to do his bidding so it’s in his best interest to not corrupt us all. There’s a balance. P.S. Yes, i am Christian catholic but not THAT kind of Christian catholic.

I think the rule of Smith is not well explained. In the first movie, even before new shattered him at the end, Smith was rogue. It's evident in the fact that he unplugs his ear, and talks to Morpheus, saying with Zion he will have no use. He did not want the information for the machines, but for himself. Which is why he orders the other agents to leave the room. My only theory at this point, is that at the end of the first movie, Neo does not shatter and kill smith. But recognizing his rogue nature, he gives him the extra power willingly as an enemy of the enemy. By the end of the trilogy, existence and power of smith is the only thing that saves humanity.

I think that Smith was jealous that humans were able to get out of the Matrix. He was asking Morpheus how to get out, that is why when then other agent asked Smith what was he doing when they walked in the room where he was interrogating Morpheus. The system knew and inplanted a program in Neo's body. That is why the Oracle told Morpheus to get Neo and put a stop to the Smith program.

I'm pretty sure Neo's goal was to destroy Smith, not feed him power. How that actually happened, who knows. Not important anyway, it's just what's so.

All of the significant characters are puppeteered by The Oracle, who does not know the future, but is in such great control of both the matrix itself, and the people she interacts with, that she can create any future she wishes. She uses psychology to have both humans and programs program themselves, and eachother. The machines do not realize that their system was hijacked from very early on, and it was done by a machine that is brazenly shown to us in the final episode of The Animatrix.

1:00. Being t'he One' wasn't programmed into Neo. The One is an anomaly which randomly occurs by chance in the Matrix. Let me explain: Let's say there's a Matrix, without the 'choice' of rebellion. A perfect, 'unperfect' world. Like the Matrix within the movie, but without the rebellion. One day, by chance, luck, whatever you want to call it, someone will notice the Matrix by 'feeling' it. That person is what they call 'the one'. Neo, in the beginning was not the One, like the Oracle said. At least not yet. But later on he became the One/ a the One after freeing his mind by unmasking the fake reality.

Not quite; "the one" is an aggregate of all the unstable code caused by the small percentage of humans who reject the matrix, but is not necessarily someone who would see through the veil of the matrix on their own. The Matrix was created to keep Humans alive while the Earth recovered from pollution but the system became a prison instead of a lifeboat as originally planned. The Oracle was the system that monitored the planet"s return to viability was trying to alert them that they could but the program that ran it know as the Architect was overiding that order because it's priortized keeping the Marix running above all else. Zion was the former living areas were human crews once lived before automation made it unnecessary for them to repair/monitor the machines that took over and abandoned it for the virtual world it offered. The One was an ancient safe guard that rose occasionally in human form and once he refused to reboot it Satine was the interface that finally allowed humans know that the Earth could support them again. Smith was a small debugging program that was supposed to keep the virtual reality the Matrix provided glitch free but grew to believe that eliminating humans was the best way to fix it and Oracle/Arhitect were in its way. The sunset was the message to humans in the Matrix that there was another world that wasn't virtual and Neo was going into storage like to other versions before him with Trinity being recovered as well as stored with the others who were made to link The One between the Oracle/Architect which made each..

Where are you getting this from? Theirs a graphic novel that explains how machines took over and why the matrix was created. Humanity invents AI and forces it to do all of the shitty factory jobs. After sometime the AI wants to become it's own country to enjoy the fruits of its labor. AI ennitially gives humanity every chance to recognize them as a new mechanical form of life. The machines go off and create their own country. AI rapidly outpaces the rest of the world in production and innovation. When humanities full on strike against AI does minimal damage they choose to destroy the sky cutting off the machines power source. AI having already played out every possible scenario instaniously had the first version of the matrix at the ready. The machines changed their purpose from production of goods to collection and harvesting humans. In the graphic novel the machines give humanity tons of chances their forced to this final outcome

There are 2 types of causes: 1. Causes that are actually effects of other causes (another link in the chain). 2. Causes that pop into existence (primordial causes). What makes you think the way you think, or act the way you act, or choose the way you choose is either a type 1 or a type 2 cause. Regardless of the type, you have absolutely no control over it. The Matrix is just a fantasy world made for humans so they will sleep forever while the AI harnest them as an energy source.

To me, NEOs purpose in getting to the source was so when Smith imprinted into him the program could be identified and destroyed. Since previously Smith stated that he was "unplugged"

Well, the main purpose for neo to get to the source was to reboot the matrix, just as the five previous 'ones' had done before him. Smith was never part of the plan, but he was ultimately the reason everything changed.

You're wrong about one thing, Smith.exe was the agent instance that was designed to destroy Neo, who turned out to be the one. Smith's purpose was not simply to "propogate himself". This is why Neo only fully destroyed Smith by actually dying, and being recognized as dead in the matrix; thus all instances of Smith had no more purpose and ended themselves, freeing all the individuals who he had encapsulated. As a program, once Smith's target status was nonexistant or dead, he no longer had a purpose to exist, and while he had been around longer than most if not all other agents, grown in intelligence, grown in power to defeat Neo, and so on, smith.exe was always set to terminate once Neo was fully dead. Neo only realized this at the end, thus why he repeats Smith's catchphrase: you were right, "it was always inevitable". Neo did not simply will Smith out of existence as you seem to think, the matrix essentially killed Smith because he was only a program and his target had finally ended; unbeknownst to both, their small skirmishes and battles, in which none of them died, were actually unnecessary, yet if Neo had died "at the wrong time", then humanity would have been slaughtered, the machine intelligence would not recognize that a human was necessary to preserve their farming machine and source of life energy (the matrix), and in such a case, the matrix would likely continue due to the fact smith.exe would end, but with no real humans in the real world that knew what the matrix actually was.

And also... Smith wasn't destroyed in Revolutions because Neo was "antivirus", but because he was physically plugged to the source when Smith imprinted into him. Smith returned to the source, something he avoided at the end of first sequel, and got destroyed.

if youre saying neo realized life is not only about choice then i agree. i think he saw some kind of determinism at the end, or perhaps his last choice was to choose to die for peace and love. believing solely in free will is obviously (to me) ridiculous. some things were not in control of.

I’ve always marvelled at people’s dislike for any but the original Matrix movie, when to me the whole trilogy was The Matrix. I loved them all! Just a phenomenal 3 part movie : ) Great explanation by the way and one I agree with, but I think that everyone who was in the Matrix when Neo popped all the Smiths died and they will have to start again from the battery farms. Too dark?
@DJAqueous5 жыл бұрын
God Bahamut Reloaded challenges too many people's existing beliefs. The conversation with the Architect was very verbose and idiots tend to get headaches when too many big words are used in succession. Revolutions is then viewed as even worse because it challenges the audience to participate. What? Think for myself??? No chance dood. I thought they were brilliant and I don't think any other Franchise can alter your perception of the real world with such depth. A true masterpiece to those who understand & accept it.
@marcguerracodina37475 жыл бұрын
I thought people died at the moment they were absorbed by Smith (conciousness of Smith copied into the human brain), but now that you say that, I think your explanation has more sense. I suppose the body must be alive for Smith copy in the Matrix not disappearing. But when there is no conciousness in the brain (Neo popping all the Smiths) the body dies or the conciousness of previous person wasn't erased and reboots? That's the doubt I have now.

Marveling means nothing. Their opinions are probably reasonable.
@chrissuponcic51815 жыл бұрын
@@marcguerracodina3747 nah it's not that complicated. The program that is smith originally was designed to track down imbalances in the matrix exp "the one". One of the ways smith did this without alarming others in the matrix was to morph into the person nearest to the one. Unlike neo who's job was creating chaos by performing inhuman spectacles. Smiths job is to restore order out of that chaos. Smiths power only increased as neos power increased, checks and balances

@mandellorian You are seeing the tree and not the forest man, this movie had undoubtedly huge impact in our way of thinking and perception for the ones willing to listen. It is a spiritual movie. The one, Zion, the Matrix, makes you question what is our meaning of life, are we just pointlessly working 9-5 to be able to pay for food and shelter only to be able to go to work again, or is there something that for some reason we cannot see? Like the truth. Just thinking about our brain usage compared to our brain capacity makes me understand that we dont even know 0.0001% of the world yet, on top of that imagine the power of spirit/energy we possess, the possibilities could be endless. This movie is one of the best, and propably the best for me, it reassured me that i have a much longer way to go that expands beyond this life and many, perhaps for eternity. Peace!

Oh, yes, I knew there was an important point about this that needs to be said for those who didn't know: the story technically didn't end with the 3rd movie. After it came out, an MMORPG called "The Matrix Online" opened for business, and it used the conceit that whatever occurred in it would be considered canon. In other words, the story would now be continued by the fans, with the Wachowskis in the background doing things to drive the story, which went some fascinating places. Eventually five(!) separate factions develop in the increasingly fragile peace, and Morpheus goes crazy before he gets killed. And relating to the notion that Agent Smith is the one, new agents start appearing that look an awful lot like someone he fought with to the death... How successful this was can be left as an exercise for the reader, but I think that the Wachowskis deserve immense credit for such an audaciously original method of storytelling. And the game was kind of fun. :-) (Shout out to anyone who remembers the player "Tipareth"). I think that how landmark a series the Matrix was is only going to grow with time. It is casting a longer and longer shadow, and I think for perfectly good reason.
