If it hasn't already been said, the voice of GLaDOS and the Turrets (Ellen McLain) is an accomplished opera singer. I can't say for sure but I imagine this was Valve's way to give her a little time to flex her real vocal talents.

The turret opera was actually sung by the voice actress for GLaDOS who used to be an opera singer. When translated to English its GLaDOS telling Chell to stay away from science and that she will miss her "darling child". Its theorized that Chell may have been the adopted daughter of Caroline. Btw You should play Black Mesa instead of Half Life. Its basically Half Life but with fresh updated graphics that make Half Life 2 fit in seamlessly. And be sure to play the DLC for Half Life / Black Mesa when you play because its very important to the story. Also Bioshock is a masterpiece the trilogy and the three DLCs are incredible. I suggest playing both. Oh and how could I forget the incredible Portal 2 mod Portal Stories Mel. Its basically a stand alone game developed by fans of Portal that takes place in the ruins of Aperture before Chell is woken up.

I'm looking forward for seeing how you cope with Portal Reloaded. There's also Portal Revolutions and Portal Stories: Mel. The Portal Reloaded has time traveling mixed with portals which allows some really nice puzzles but that really requires thinking.
@Ncyphen6 ай бұрын
13:00 He actually stops when the devs intended the player to move forward and see the giant rooms being moved around with skeletons falling out. Edit: None of these puzzles were designed where the only solution was a brute force attack. The row of turrets were supposed to be blocked by a light bridge, and the cube on the platform, the portals did not have to line up center. Watching stuff like this makes me realize that a lack of critical thinking skills is more common than I thought.

@@hidekitom0My play through was about 8h. After that I started to watch how others are doing it. I like puzzle games and problem solving games that need logical thinking and understanding 3d space. That maybe helped me here. Also levels have so much "hidden" hints that jumps to your eyes. And usually if you are close enough but can't reach is usually wrong way. Offtopic: Only time when I needed to check solution was Last map wide puzzle in The Talos Principle. Those big puzzles were crazy. If I would have tried to do it without hints then it would likely to took 1-2 weeks thinking and investigating level. The Talos Principle maps contained 6 big puzzles in each map and for final ending needed to solve puzzles what use whole that area from each map. I think I got that final ending around 40h mark and still achi hunting ongoing (57h).

Now you're thinking with portals
@ironicallyedgy72342 ай бұрын
Honestly, I’d say that Wheatley isn’t that dumb. He’s no genius, sure, but when you look at his actions, he’s far from stupid. He led Chell to the portal gun, came up with the plan to defeat GLaDOS, and had multiple death traps back after back incase the first one didn’t kill you. He’s just naive, doesn’t think things through, can’t focus on the bigger picture, and bottles up his insecurities. GLaDOS’ lines about him also come from a very, very, very biased source. He just took her facility from her, and quickly shoves her into a farm crop. She wasn’t going to be nice about it, and wanted to make Chell feel bad about ever trusting him.

Bioshock is a phenomenal game to first-time LP, but especially if you really focus hard on the story. It’s a game that does a lot of environmental storytelling and kind of lets you piece together the backstory, which is tricky but rewarding. Definitely do it, but with subtitles and brain both on!

Fun Fact: Chel, your character, is theorized to be Cave and Caroline's daughter
@Sergonizer6 ай бұрын
1) Lab rat comic is clearly telling us that the database is hiding Chell's surname for some intentional reason. 2) GLaDOS database says her parents abandoned her at birth yet apparently she was very quickly adopted by aperture workers (would Cave make Caroline abandon her to hide the fact he had intercourses with his assistant? He definitely would! So would he make sure no one knows her biological parents, especially his own database). 3) From the game dev perspective: all three human characters in the entire portal series (well not counting the comic) are sharing their first name first letter: C. The chances for those being selected randomly are approaching zero. 4) GLaDOS even with Caroline (she didn't kill her and decided to lie, as it is accepted in the community. The fact she lied will be important a bit later) killed people in the coop testing initiative. But not Chell. She already got to know WHO Chell is to her and couldn't kill her. That entire "the easiest way is to let you out" is just pure BS. She had two rooms full of turrets, but decided to add Chell as the family member, who needs to be sang a lullaby (apparently, a daughter). 5) GLaDOS deleted phrase. Oh you waited for this, didn't you? But I don't think it's a solid argument. It only proves that the mother-daughter relation was at least THOUGHT about while developing the game. We also know that the lack of relations between them was also a thing during development. But they decided to remove everything that could 100% prove either Chell was or was not a daughter. *) People are saying the timeline doesn't work. Do I remind you that Chell was an adult in the first game and was awakened by Rattman from the long sleep? Cave Johnson has died not being too old, he could have had a child literally months before his death. There really are no obstacles from the timeline perspective. **) The only real counterpoint against this is the Chell CHARACTER MODEL. But I think changing her literal race in the second game was deemed to be a bad decision that's why she looks like in the first game and not like the daughter of Caroline and Cave. Also the model retcon would 100% prove that Chell is a daughter of them, and I already said they were getting rid of those things. Apparently just for people to make theories, and I don't have anything against this decision.

I don't think Wheatly was truly evil but only after he got mad with power after getting connected to the main machine that controls everything, and the reason Glados aka Caroline does have more control is becuse Cave Johnson made it for her brain only, and the destruction time of the facility is probably a safety measure that will activate only when Glados truly dies and it will probably destroy everything inside Apeture, so there will be evidence left in the future. I don't think Glados can live forever a long time yes some 100's years or 1000's years, so if Glados can't longer take care off the facility or be dead must start the timer of the destruction of everything.
