The ending was pretty funny. If they want to keep the absurdity of the ending they should do something similar to TTYD where the game asks you, "Are you sure?" like 5-6 times before it lets you choose this ending

That's a great idea. And each time have it use the lines afterwards where it's like, "The mother that abandoned you?" yes/no, "The mother that sold you?" yes/no, etc

I for one would like that scene where they cook her and more dialogue is there. Rather it being a gag it could be seeing how the parents dealt with "keeping appearances" Maybe the dad have some scenes. Andrew gets money from the bank and moves on taking what's left of Ashley with him

That sounds like a very School Days ending if Andrew just takes the remains with him. Could be fun to see and would double down on the dark nature of the game

I voted to cut it. My jaw genuinely hit the floor with how absurd it was. I was actually somewhat offended by the fact they were seriously considering including it as it is. I was kinda fuming. I was actually arguing quite a lot in that thread. Eventually I concluded that if they took the ending more seriously and rewrote Andrew to not be completely braindead it would help a lot. It would be fine for him to have stupid logic and for the narrator to make fun of him, but to leave Andrew as he is would be a shame. As it stands now it is far too into the realm of absurdism that it clashes severely with the tone of the game (and especially of this scene) and the established style of humor. I'm genuinely baffled. I just hope Nemlei and Kit9 take the criticism of us naysayers into account and rewrite the dialogue. If they don't, it will seriously diminish my view of this game. No-good Noelle will be sitting pretty at #1 for sure, otherwise. 😅

I completely agree that as is I would vote that the ending needs to be cut. If they re-wrote it to be more in character for both Andrew / Ashley I could see it working out. I could see a universe where tensions hit maximum and things end right then and there. But Andrew going full brain dead doesn't fit him nor the narrative. I also agree that it could diminish the game on the charts. Might drop it down a tier

And I hope, Nemlei leave it as it is, as you have to be braindead to not understand undercurrents of that scene. And why in decay and burial, even with all the differences, parents still get killed.

@@hughu9340 I agree, you'd have to be braindead to not understand that scene.. but by that I mean that scene in its entirety. It was more subtle and never strayed into absurdist humor that clashed with not only the tone of the game (and especially of the scene) but also the prior established style of comedy. I have a deep care and love for story-craft. I find this very scene, even if as a joke, to be very detrimental to the quality of this story. I've already had many arguments on it, so I'm not going to reiterate my entire diatribe here, but I find this joke to be of low quality. The way I see it, either Nemlei just thought this joke was a riot or this is some form of dunking on mom-simps who for the most part are joking. Though I admit there are some real morons that genuinely believe the mom, but you really don't need to spell it out plain-face to the detriment of the story for the sake of those better left behind (they can always watch an analysis video if they can't figure out the obvious. 😉) Edit: And just in case, many people like to point out that the scene is optional as some form of gotcha to me, as if I didn't know that. So just to clarify, I am aware it's optional and forecasted.

i think it'd be funny if it was done in a way where you would deliberatley make decisions to end up freeing them, say include a hidden rope cutter somewhere. so that people who obsessivley try to find hidden dialogues can get a laugh

@nathanbronx6199 It definitely needs to be rewritten. That much is certain to me. I don't mind your idea of making it off the beaten path, but I'm much more partial to excluding it entirely: it is silly!!!
