And today’s video went to a job where the blower motor would not stop running. Remove the 24 V from the module and the fan we continue to run. Since the system was out of warranty, replace it with a Genteq evergreen blower motor and not an OEM motor.

Sir you really need to be using knee pad of some kind. YOU ARE DONE WHEN YOU LOSE YOUR KNEES.!!!!! BELIEVE ME I KNOW. ONE OF THE BEST TEC TIP YOU EVER GONNA GET!!!

Absolutely appreciate that tip!! You are 100000% right my dad would tell me the same thing, I have a kneeling bad and knee pads, but need to make it a conscious effort to utilize them 🤦‍♂️ thanks again!!

My X-13 in a 1.5 year old home with a Carrier did the same. I also put a rescue in. Kept the old one in case of an emergency. Blower wheel came off using the Ted Cook method. :) I didn't have the installer warranty it because they wanted more in labor than I could buy the rescue for. My smaller Carrier has a Broad Ocean ECM still going. I added louvers to the A/C closet doors too so hopefully it helps with static pressure.

Man if attic units I’m my area were that easy to access I would still work on them.. around here you usually have to belly crawl or be a contortionist to get to them.
@KoolinwithKrauss

I don’t blame you! I would say about 50/50 for the attics I get into are like this vs the crappy ones. definitely fair share but I also don’t have the crawlspaces 😅 generally though, closets and garages.

Get a wire wheel for your impact, it makes it a lot easier to clean the shaft on the blower motors. You can make it cleaner than using sandpaper.

I stopped using sanding cloth around Y2K traded it for a wire wheel on the impact never bought another box of sanding cloth. When I saw this video pop up on my feed I was hoping to see you pull out a pocket reprogramming tool for the module!

I've been installing in-line surge protectors, seems to have helped quite a bit.
@KoolinwithKrauss

The dedicated x-13 ones or just like the ag3000? I’ll have to start moving those because I believe that will drastically cut down as well! Thanks for the input 🫡

@@KoolinwithKrauss depends on the application and build out of the system ie. Supplemental heat and things of that nature. My go to is always the zebra in lines though. Over here it’s pretty much a must have because the grid tends to be so temperamental.

@@KoolinwithKrauss also something to consider if you have a system that is problematic with motors is to look into static pressure and system/duct sizing, I’ve had a rash of new customers that have had issues with x13 motors and ultimately it was found that the system was not built out correctly. Just something to keep in the technician mental toolbox

Its not the motors that usually go bad. Its the modules on the back of the motor. They go bad because of surges of power. Putting a surge protector on any variable speed unit is highly recommended because of this fact
@KoolinwithKrauss
@KoolinwithKrauss 8 ай бұрын
Correct! Modules from my supply aren’t as readily available as the whole assembly unfortunately! 100% agree with surge protection I recommend to them ag3000 minimum or the icm493 to really CYA

@madeinusa1576

Not on an x-13 motor module, doesn’t have anything to do with the relay, the module wasn’t receiving the 24v required to run but would still run.
