Exquisite! We saw them at Friars, the long missed venue which had different bands on too... this lot, Can, Tangs, Quantum Jump, Kevin Ayers... to name but a few. A privilege to have lived back then for live music.

The best song of Enid and one of the best songs of all artists.

I saw the Enid on this tour (for 'Touch Me') at the Glasgow Apollo and, despite an audience of 400 or so in that 3,000 capacity venue, they were absolutely at the peak of their powers and totally deserved the standing ovation they got at the end of 'Fand' (Aerie Faerie Nonsense being one of my 10 favourite albums of all time). I can honestly say that it was the single most moving, most exhilarating and greatest gig I've ever attended - which is amazing when you consider the times... I was 19 and had seen Sabbath, Camel, Steve Hillage, Deep Purple, Motorhead, Steve Hackett, Rick Wakeman, Mike Oldfield, UFO ('Strangers in the Night' tour), VDGG, Whitesnake, Rainbow ('Rising' line-up) and too many others to list.... it was a golden time for rock music - we had prog, heavy or 'hard' rock, UK punk, new wave, USA punk - Patti Smith/Blondie/Talking Heads,RAMONES,.... it's all too much to dwell upon. Those days are long-gone but the music remains - timeless, beautiful and inspired. I was indeed fortunate to be the right age at the absolutely right time. I'm now going to listen to Region/Aerie/Touch/Pieces whilst I travel through the back pages of my mind. Bless the Enid (especially the genius guitarist F.L.) for being there just when I needed them...

+Existential Angst Go and see the current Dust tour. A different Enid in many ways, but highly impressive, very moving, and music for the soul!

I saw them for the first time on that tour as well, but in Manchester. I was struck by Francis Lickerish on guitar. He absolutely owned that stage. And yes, it was a golden age for live music. I feel lucky to have lived through it.

I remember this performance so well. Arguably the finest performance of Fand, though Symphony Hall 2011 takes some beating!

Maravilloso grupo, lo llevo escuchando desde hace muchos años,pero su música es tan mágica que aguanta perfectamente el paso del tiempo.

Saw The Enid too many times to remember. At Reading, possibly '83, the crowd just didn't want them to finish and were chanting 'Enid' through a good proportion of the next (unfortunate) band's set. Anyone remember that? One thing that stands out to me now though, is that RJG would have been only 31/32 years old here. He looks the same age as I do now!!

For me, this was when Enid was at its best, 4 or more musicians playing various keyboards live on stage. I was a big fan in those days, but sorry to say i dont find their latest stuff interesting.

I agree. For me The Enid ended their glorious times with the album "The White Goddess". What they have done afterwards, I mean new studio albums, is not appealing to me, with the sole exception of "Invicta".

And now we have Rap. As Ozzy said, "Is that spelled with a large C or a small one?". Darwin's theory of evolution in reverse.

I was there and it was my loss that i wasn't impressed with the music as i was surrounded by Enid fanatics who were in seventh heaven throughout the gig. I just found it rather tedious though 'in the region of summer stars' was what brought me to the Hammersmith. Still the girl i was with paid for my ticket and thought the gig was amazing and seemed rather put out by my negativity and if i recall packed me up soon after.
