Hey, same amp here, I did not experience any muddiness with mine, however, I am able to clean up and or get a more focused when called for by using a BBE or a Wampler tumnus as a boost with its own eq, but the biggest change came with a pair of celestion alnico, I am aware that it is a more expensive way to approach your need but the outcome is very rewarding, something to consider down the road, peace.

I haven’t thought about the alnico speakers, that is awesome. I will swap out the speakers one day, until then this is a decent and quick fix. Thanks for checking out the video, and the suggestion.

first time using an eq... when i put this in front of a high gain amp it seems to have generated quite a bit of static noise. is that normal? a gate does remove it tho but i'm curious if it's normal for an eq to create noise, in front of high gain amp

Hey man, this should be a pretty quiet pedal. However some power supplies don’t have great isolation and the static or hum can come from that. Are you using it with other pedals before it? Try experimenting with which power outputs you are using for them, I have had some luck with other pedals just by swapping power around. I have found that even certain pedals make other ones seem like the issue, so pulling out most from your chain and adding them back in one by one can help find some issues, also. I find an eq for high gain amps work a little better early in the loop chain of effects, if available. And also keeping loop effects and pre effects powered from different power supply sources. Hope something from this helps get the signal clean!

I believe 12 plus and minus, and the plus does help give a good boost or help compensate for level differences when freqs are reduced. I have it always on as the first thing in my loop and I now love using this set up live. Perfect piece.

Everything you change thru EQ , changes the phase relationship between frequencies. Which just causes other problems, just buy the speakers.
