The D isn't that great if you ask me. She has poor defences and seems to struggle with quick maneuvers. The E is much more capable in a fight. I understand the nostalgia of having the D return from the dead, but I would much rather have seen the E. She is my Enterprise.

I read a pretty neat fan fiction on reddit where the federation discovered that the disabled Enterprise-E was found by a weakened civilization, fixed it up, and now was using the ship to defend itself from a neighboring planet that kept attacking them. The Federation found this out and sent Worf and Data on the USS Galaxy to go get the ship. When they got their they discovered it was being used to help keep these people alive, and if they took the Enterprise-E back the planet would be at risk of being destroyed. In the end they decided to leave the Enterprise-E with this alien race and report back to the Federation that it was destroyed and non-salvagable. I thought the story was pretty cool. A fun "what if".

Thanks for this. I was thinking I'd love to see the E in Hangar Bay 12 as the command crew arrive in awe of seeing it. I think the E deserved a lot more attention from Picard season 3. It was only mentioned directly twice and a model of it was briefly seen in Chateau Picard, whereas th D got multiple mentions and actually returned.

I would have kept everything the same except I would have had the Enterprise e instead of the Titan have been the hero shift or it had the Enterprise E be factored into commandeering after the Titan was destroyed LOL it just should have got Justice and tied up the Loose Ends and they didn't take the time to do it and I feel like it was a missed opportunity to clarify her fate and status

@mattmetschan1652 Hi. The one in the ready room was transparent, as I recall. The one briefly seen in Chateau Picard is the same as in the observation room as seen in FC and Nemesis.

The problem is that they couldn't build the entire ship set for filming. Enterprise-D has only a bridge. D - more popular. And they chose him. With a bigger budget they could have made Worf captain of the Enterprise-E. This is how tragic the situation is.

@@mattmetschan1652 They don't have filming sets anyway. For D and E. Differences from the old bridge design can always be attributed to ship updates. The problem is that they had to rent sets from other series, like "Discovery", etc. And they were always limited in terms of rental time. And in the budget to build our own copy for "Picard".

While it would have been nice to see the Enterprise E again, this scene was more impactful to those of us that grew up with the Enterprise D. Seeing her on one last mission against The Borg.

It makes sense out of universe that Picard is most nostalgic for the D. That's the ship he's Captain of when the audience is introduced to him and where he remains for the better part of a decade. In universe, it makes less sense. Picard was Captain of the Stargazer for 22 years (and an officer aboard the ship even longer) and Captain of the E for about ten years. In contrast, he was Captain of the D for about 8 years. If anything, it seems like he'd be the least nostalgic for the D, yet his personal opinion mirrors that of the audience. We only saw him as the Captain of the Stargazer in flashbacks and we only saw him command the E in four movies. Of course the majority of the fans prefer the D.

This is called marketing. An attempt to play on the feelings of the fans who watched the series. The producers of the series don't care about the logic of the Star Trek narrative, they don't care about the uniform of Starfleet, which they change every couple of years. Etc.

I had a theory early in S3 that we were going to get a team up of the A, D, and E working together (and Voyager with Seven) to take down the F (with its Changeling crew). But that was before the Borg reveal.

I think instead of the F the E should have been getting retired, the D rescues the E from the assimilated Federation fleet, and then the D and E teamed up to fight the Borg cube.

Looks great! Would have loved the E in Picard (possibly having F's brief role) however can understand why this may not have happened. I guess they wanted the Enterprise-F to reinforce the idea that the D was an older ship (even though Starfleet ships have a longer life span) rather then the immediate predecessor of the current Enterprise. 😀

it would just be them dumping phasers and torpedoes on the cube. then they fly into the chamber and blow up the cube from inside and we get the money shot of them flying away just in time.

It should have been the E… The Enterprise-E was the “current” Enterprise for something like 27 years, in real life. It wasn’t replaced in cannon until Picard S3. That’s almost 4 times longer than the Enterprise-E.

@@vortexCGI - Just remember that these ships aren't just vehicles that people ride in. These ships are also characters too. They are a major part of the show. People love seeing them. When the Enterprise self-destructed in theaters, people actually cried. So I would suggest lighting the ship the same way you would light a character. Clear and visible in the shot. Even if it doesn't exactly match realism, people love seeing these ships. Have a nice day. Keep Up The good work.

First, thank you for your kind words. I think the Enterprise E needs a heroic end. They made it out on Picard as if its end was an accident. First I dont think Worf would wreck the ship like that. I would tie it in with Worfs attempts at becoming a pacifist Klingon. So it should be something tragic but ultimately heroic.

We all grew up with the enterprise D had. Models and toys of her but as she was persume destroyed sn generation fell an love with the e but my opinion they should have stayed on the big screen its good to see the d back an action but i would rather have had the next gen crew stay on the big screen

The E just doesn't hit the same. I spent 7 years with the D over so many episodes and it felt like a character in the show. The E, while a nice looking ship was just a ship in the movies...we didn't get to spend the time with it.
