I think the studio wanted a "running start", as having a honeymoon shot at the onset would have had people saying they were copying the movie. But, I agree, at some point in Season 1, we did need a scene like this.

I kinda wish they showed something like this at the beginning of the pilot episode 'Encounter at Farpoint' before we heard Picard's first log entry as the captain of the Enterprise D and they're first encounter with the biggest annoying pest in the history of the Galaxy because man seeing this version of showing the Enterprise D in SpaceDock and them playing the TMP music score of the scene of the Refitted Enterprise would have been awesome to watch.
@1977TA Жыл бұрын
I agree! Encounter At Farpoint would have benefited from a TMP style ship reveal. The production team should have designed an opening credits version for the pilot that did not have any shots of the ship so that audiences would not see what it looked like until the big reveal moment.

The Enterprise D is my favorite next to the 1701 refitt. She was built to be an explorer and it would've been really great to see her in a few more feature length ST movies actually exploring like the TNG series did. Cool video I just wish she had a better send off than a core breach she more than deserved to be retired and put in the fleet museum more than just the saucer section but very cool video

Thinking how scaled up that dry dock would be vs the motion picture one, to wrap around the “D”, you’d need a couple warp cores to power those massive lights. 😂
@thenexus48982 жыл бұрын
Also, despite the lights on the Enterprise, there were disgusting shadows to be seen
@TrentonBennett2 жыл бұрын
Not too bad but the formation lights would not be blinking until the engines and deflector dish are on. Just like the Enterprise refit in TMP. Also the Enterprise-D's saucer formation lights NEVER blinked. Only the engines, above the bridge, above the aft torpedo launcher and the one under the secondary hull. Edit: Why did you use the bridge sfx from the Star Trek 2009 film? Wrong timeline... Oh one more thing the warp nacelle grills would be light too when the bussard collectors light up. If you watch the TNG episode 11001001 when Data and Geordi have to put the ship on automatic departure.
