It’s hard to overestimate how controversial it was to sing any number above one before the ‘60s. At the time, even the notion of a performer singing ‘two’ was enough to create controversy. Hard to believe that by the end of the decade they had gone all the way up to 10 and beyond. Before they did it, it was simply unthinkable.
