Hard to believe anyone would be "offended" by the pic. It didn't show the bloodied bodies. It was a family which was "slaned" (could have been the stone mason was a bad speller). And, I felt you handled the entire story with the taste and dignity it deserved. Here we are roughly 120 years later and individuals--for any of a number of reasons--sometimes STILL become angry to the point of committing murder. Fine job, Ron.

My dad’s family is from Licking and are still there. My grandfather and great grandfather were at the hanging. Jody is buried in the cemetery where a lot of my family is buried. I believe that Jody suffered from a brain injury and unfortunately committed such a horrific crime because of. Just guessing of course, I have had several clients with brain injuries who would just snap.

I was thinking same thing. Brain injuries can do that, especially with frontal lobe damage.

Interestingly, Henry the 8th was a very fair and upstanding person and king until he suffered a catastrophic head injury in a jousting match. He then became crazed. The brain is a mysterious thing for sure!!

I had a friend from childhood who fell from a 2nd story balcony and ended up with TBI(traumatic brain injury). He was a super friend,but he could go off in a rage over nothing and hurt people! I felt terrible for him.He died a young man as a direct result of his brain injury. It happens. Uncontrollable rage.

I'm glad you got this one back in the feed. The fly in and the music is so amazing. The story of how quickly death row inmates were executed back then -- instead of being allowed to do appeals and stall for decades until they die naturally of old age after dragging the victims' families through constant court cases like they do today -- is interesting to hear. So sad about this family.

I bet if they still held trials and punishment like that today there would be a lot less crime. But a lot more protesters would be there and it makes me think what they would do if happened to someone in their family.

I for one loved this episode. I’ve been to the area where this happened. It hasn’t changed much, one wouldn’t think. As far as the post-mortem picture, at least the poor family had been cleaned, dressed, and posed. That didn’t always happen. Geez. Great job as always, Ron❤

Thanks so much Ron for providing us with this fascinating terrible story! It is now Christmas Week, 2022. And I wish you and yours a blessed Christmas Season and a Marvelous New Year! Your channel is a special part of my week, each week! Btw, it sounds like the murderer had TBI, traumatic brain injury. And that combined with childhood violent abuse made him a walking stick of dynamite. Tragic all the way around. Especially the children and wife. 😭😭😭

Such a sad story 🙏🏻 Loose noose hanging, sounds deliberate. "Slan" meaning "to hit, to beat" in West Germanic dictionary. Considering the beatings the Parson family endured the photo looks rather peaceful. Thanks for taking us along Ron 🥰
@lorrainegrey9120 Жыл бұрын
The faces in the original photo did show some signs of their injuries, but by then, they had all been cleaned up (obviously) and put in their other clothing, so it's really not that terrible to look at, except for the sadness of it. BTW, Minnie Parsons was several months pregnant with what would have been the couple's fourth child. She was some years younger than her husband Carney, and an alternate or gossipy version added that Jody Hamilton possibly had an unrequited crush on Minnie, adding to his rage over the other perceived offenses.

Tonight was my first viewing of your channel and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At a mature age you are able to understand and convey these stories from long ago. The story made me think of my grandparents graves.. They are buried in a tiny church side cemetery. My aunt researched our family history back seven generations to gain evidence of a family member who fought in the Revolutionary War. I am fortunate to have these many pages of my mother's side of the family. Today many think of our country's history as "dead white guys" but it is so much more. Thank you for giving voice to those who are forgotten.

This sure was worth watching again. Sometimes the 2nd time I pick up more insight then the first. To see this whole family wiped out like this still brings the same sadness though. I'm not sure why anyone who is interested in a cemetery channel would be offended by the family picture. I see death as an eternal extension of life. I have more fear of living then I do of dying. No more suffering no more pain and no one will have to carry a gun in heaven. RIP to this beautiful family. They sure didn't deserve this.

Your introduction and music selection very nice. I think the two unfortunate mule kicks to Jody's head really affected him. Very sad story. RIP Carney, Minnie, Jessie, Frank and Edward.
