41:45 I've always interpreted this as the point... The Imperium may be flawed in its own right, but Chaos is a path to ruin all it's own. For as brilliant as Horus's opening gambit was, for as capable as he was at preventing the loyalist legions from rallying back, ultimately there is no honor among traitors. For as much as Horus was loved by all just 15 years prior, he faced the Emporer alone. A Primarch abandoned by all those who turned with him. Each of the remaining traitors leaving the Heresy of their own volition to pursue their own wants.

It's strange to me how people over exaggerate in comments in an attempt garner approval or something. Its a video with average production giving a shorted account of other people's work. Masterpiece really this is a work of supreme intellectual and or artistic achievement. I speak for everyone when I say its a gift that was greatly needed, kinda pompous. Pretty sure this wasn't done for free while also available in 1000's videos amd a whole series of books This wasn't eloquent rather a display of bastardisation
@giuliozilli4302 Жыл бұрын
@@mastodonseven tbh I found the video clearly explained and nicely edited, the first thing I thought about while watching it how time consuming it would be to make such a clean video. I've been a fan of Ian's way of explaining the 40k universe for a while now, finding it quite useful to communicate the setting to newcomers or 40k fans alike given how he manages to keep the video entertaining and still be specific and faithful to the sources. I think that there is a lot of negativity online regarding feedback to content creators and having been one myself I know how between 100 positive response it's the one negative comment that hits the most therefore it is important to underline when certain contents are appreciated. I like Ian's videos a lot and therefore it is good for me to be vocal about it. As for the rather pompous vocabulary english isn't my first language so I guess I have some issues figuring out when I'm being too formal, but I did actually find this video a clear example of how this kind of videos should be made in my opinion so masterpiece isn't too far off 🧐
@ThePrikly Жыл бұрын
Your English is fantastic. The only problem is someone's attitude.
@mastodonseven Жыл бұрын
@Giulio Zilli The pompous part was claiming to speak for everyone not the words used. But anyway im not saying the video is bad but far from a masterpiece. But as English isn't a first language you warrant more slack while also not seeming any worse than a lot of people it is a first language for.

This is very impressive, Ian! I'm a huge fan of Perturabo, and I've come to the conclusion that both The Emperor and Horus believed too much in the whole "Lord of Iron" persona. They thought he was indestructible and infinitely stoic. In reality, he was quite sensitive emotionally. They underestimated what their rigorous assignments were doing to him. And in the end, neither could control him anymore. Once Horus learned the truth about him, he ordered Perturabo and his legion to make cannon fodder of themselves during the siege. Perturabo refused, and now the Iron Warriors are fiercely loyal to their Primarch because he kept them from being sacrificed by their masters. Thanks for the video! 😅

As a side note: It's hard to overstate just how much Chaos had bolstered the Traitors in the final weeks of thr Siege: Their mortal and Astartes components had suffered horrendous losses, and all command structure was lost, leaving them almost combat-ineffective - little more than a horde of mutated madmen that disgusted Abaddon. It was the millions upon millions of Daemons, combined with the insanity and corruption of Chaos, that had finally pushed the Loyalists to the brink.

I read most of the Horus heresy and I regret it, why if the night lords are renegade, Rogal Dorn sent them as reinforcement and no one suspects anything? Hell in the book Fulgrim, he confesses to ferrus the Word bearers are traitor and again no one suspects when they are reinforcement. This saga is made by several authors, to make books faster and money faster and that ends up always in lazy writing, some books of Lion el'Jonson are just horrible, raven guard and salamander Boring, Magnus fan service and BIG contradictions, respected primachs like Sanguinius, Ferrus Manus, Mortarion, are disappointments and most of the time useless for the plot. They are some hidden gems, Dan Abnett books are very good, Yagathay author is good, against all odds Lorgar Books are very good, and the most intereting in my opinion, Alpha Legion makes interesting every book that touches. Aside from that I honestly recommend to read Dune, that is a main inspiration for 40k, star wars ans Sci fi in general, peak performance writing like you can become another person after thinking about its themes.
