Qui gon was practically a grey jedi he often let his emotion control him which is a dark side trait however he was grounded enough not to succumb to the darkness inside him so he wasn't really grand master material and also why he didn't hold a seat on the council.

I love how Qui Gon sees something special in even the rejects. He believes in them no matter the faults they have. Obi Wan wanted to move on without Jar Jar and Anakin. Only ends up training Anakin out of obligation to his dieing friend. Qui Gon didn't pass on this quality to Obi Wan.

I don’t think it was quite this. I think Qui-Gon was able to sense something through his mastery of the force that Kenobi just couldn’t feel the same way, at least at the time. Qui-Gon was able to find the chosen one in Anakin, and due to what he felt, he was completely ready to mentor and practically father him. Remember, Anakin was way too old when it came to joining the order. Qui-Gon was accepting a task that the rest of the council saw as impossible, and he even said Kenobi had nothing left to learn from him and that he was ready to move forward as a Jedi. Obi-wan is a good enough man that he does take up his friend and master’s dying wish, but think about that in a real life situation. That’s like taking care of the kid that your best friend adopted. I don’t quite think it was in his cards to all of the sudden essentially raise a child. Jinn wanted the task, Kenobi took on the responsibility. I think he treated Anakin as well as he could while also constantly having in the back of his mind that master Qui-Gon would have his hide if anything really bad happened to Anakin before he was ready to look out for himself. He’s overprotective for the sake of his friend, and then they do develop a real connection more as a younger and older brother. Anakin didn’t need a brother to look out for him. The immaculately conceived child of a single slaver mother needed the father figure that was Jinn. As an oldest brother, I can tell you mind don’t care about what I say whether they know I’m right or wrong 😂

Qui Gon Jinn has always been my favorite Star Wars character and an influence on my personality, especially since he defied everyone who has told him he could not do something, then proves he can do it and get away with it. The Jedi Counsel was flawed and he noticed it right away. To me, he is what a Jedi Knight should be. Side note: It'd be cool to hear him again or see flash backs or easter eggs about him in the third movie, but who knows. Or hell, if they are actually doing a movie on Obi Wan when he left to go to Tatooine by himself, hear his voice there.

Jedi Knight Revan to be fair Qui-Gonn Jinn knee how to calm Anakin. It wasn’t until Palpatine manipulated Anakin after Qui-Gon Jinn’s death that Anakin turned evil. Qui Gon may not ahve seen it except as a natural result of his failing to raise the chosen one, not realizing that he could die and the chosen one might be raised improperly, he trusted the living force as well as the wills of the force

My top favorite character ever with Obi-Wan and Anakin right behind him. I was so sad when he passed away. His first Padawan was Feemor followed by Xanatos then Obi-Wan. He and Obi-Wan almost did not even get together till a fateful moment on Bandomeer. The Jedi Apprentice books really cover their time as Master-Apprentice from Meeting to years after. It's so worth to read.

I only came across you a couple days ago. I mentioned how good a narrator you are. I realized today that your gift for narration is only half the story (you can groan now). The way you edit clips from vastly different types of media formats, sound tracking, animation styles is absolutely seamless. That lends itself to amazing narration. I have no idea what your process is, but if it were me, I would first settle on the story I want to tell, write a thesis statement and write and outline. After that I would comb through scenes so they follow my outline, do a rough edit, replace the ones that don’t work a few times then work on smoothing out the edit. I would take my outline as I watch what I had produced and use them both to come up with a draft script, the. Clean that up a few times until I felt it met the standards I had set for myself. I was always interested in Qui-Gon’s story. I understand why he had to die in episode , and how significant his death was for Anakin’s future. I think Anakin’s life would’ve turned up differently. Maybe he wouldn’t reach out to the dark force and never become Vader. Guess we’ll never know.

You didn't mention that Qui-Gon's first apprentice Xanatos turned to the Dark side. Qui-Gon was reluctant to train Obi-Wan because he felt Xanatos was his great Faliure Like Dooku Xanatos parentage was royal, Governor of Telos IV being of two worlds and full of resentment he turned into an Enemy. Very reminiscent of what would later happen to Vader like history repeating itself.

One important part you left out is that qui gonn didn't select obi wan as his Palawan at the temple. He actually dismissed him and said he wouldn't train him because Qui lost his first Palawan and vowed to not take another one. Obi actually was sent off to a agriculture farm and Qui just happened to have a mission there. After he helped him on that mission he saw it was the will of the force that he took obi wan with him to train.
