@@Stuffings00 that's sad to hear that you judged me based off of a profession I could not quit. I hope you understand my side and the side of other military members now. We join and cannot quit or we go to prison. We are forced to ride out our contract whether we agree with them or not. And, I have the military to thank for making me a pacifist environmentalist. I learned a lot from the military. I do not regret my service but I am not proud of it either. Again, please do not judge people that 1. you do not know personally and 2. in the military. We all join for different reasons and the real culprit are military leaders, the government, and higher up players, not us worker bees at the bottom trying out best to get out as soon as possible

I’m appreciative that you talk about the overlap of military and environmental issues. It’s critical! Rarely do people identify as environmental pacifists as I do. My parents emigrated from US to Canada due to per capita war spending, in 1978, but they were religiously motivated and I am not. Caring about the environment is my version of religion if I had to choose. Thank you for talking about indigenous peoples genocide. Thank you for sharing your process of understanding and changing your mind. I am always looking to learn how people change their minds as it’s astounding facing pro military indoctrination. The “knitting cult scholar lady” talks about the brainwashing that happens over generations. Small actions matter, you are right! ❤

it sure is fascinating, right?! I grew up in rural US and truly was indoctrinated about the military and I was so proud to join. Now being a veteran gives me the ick cause of what I controbuted to. It really is generations deep!

Thank you so much for addressing this important issue so well! BTW, the military doesn’t have to worry about the cost of anything since Congress votes them an increase in every budget renewal. They even give them more than the military asks for. Be aware of who your representatives in Congress are and how they vote on military budgets. Then write them a letter. As regards the genocide in Gaza - it is beyond comprehension that the world stands by and allows this to happen.

My family drove to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base "Aircraft Boneyard" many years ago. I heard some in the film industry visit that place to film interior shots of airplanes if the script needs it.
