Phil you are really good at this! So concise and clear in your reasoning. I agree that TTPD rewards repeated listening both for lyrics and the music. The subtlety of her vocal expression really got to me on this album. Red (Taylors version) has the centrepiece of All Too Well 10 minute version, like a lot of Red its message is so clear and direct, while beautifully written and structured there is little to unpick or analyse apart from the superb craftsmanship . She uses the whole album to recount the beginning, the heat , the conflict, the break up and ensuing feelings from one relationship. There are songs outside of this relationship that are interesting for their difficult subject matter: Ronan about a terminally ill child and Forever Winter about a friend who ODs. Taylor shows she is a true artist in creating from really difficult material and would suggest these because they get little coverage on reactor channels.
