Great video, I was thinking you could keep it bent and have it in a small bush pot survival kit or something, that way you don't need to bend it back and forth.

Afaik the Esbit company says the stove can be bent and flattened for up to 15 times.

Great video when i was in the military. I was attached with the germans. The cubes are designed to cut up into 4s you start it with. A piece of the tab then add sticks to continue also i loke my german esbit stove i brought home and still use it

On you tube are vids on adding a side or two to the square stove. Have done so and it makes a nice wind screen with no extra volume..weight. Makes using with sticks much more efficient. Thank you for your service!!!

I have no idea if they are still available .. but I retired from the US Army in 03 after 22 plus years .. the old esbit stoves were a foldup style that seemed to be designed with the base of the US canteen mind in mind .. also .. a pack of 4x4 or maybe it was 4x5 esbit tabs could be kept within the folded metal stove .. and the stove was much more solid than what you are showing ..
@Iridium2426 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, they are still out there and I have a few of them, I chose this little fold up one for a specific reason, I have a get home bag that is in a roll up type pack, so because it does not have a ton of free room in there I wanted something this thin and foldable. I will be doing that video soon on the roll up bag itself.

I recognize that now .. I posted the comment then watched the rest of the video .. well done as per your norm ..

That what mine is. The ends are hinged and slide out then fold up and mine holds I think 4 tablets innside. Love mine, best money I ever spent.

I like my titanium Esbit, made by Firemaple with folding up side wind breaks. Just filmed it @ebikecnx7239 and despite others wrong reviews it can burn solid alcohol gel rounds. Had a great pork chop on it this morning. Only 70g and it turned a beautiful blue-purple as titanium does..

I love all the Esbit stuff. One comment on your bag. To have only the SS water bottle to boil water is a huge mistake. Trying to boil water in the high and narrow bottle is not time efficient unless you have a real fire...coals. Just like an ice cube will take a long time to melt because of its vertical hight. Break it up ie...lower and wider ice chunks and it melts much faster. Same with boiling water. Put the water in a lower, wider vessel and it boils much faster. Even a $5 SS Walmart cup will nest w/your bottle and would boil the equivalent of volume of water much fast. The wider the faster. Cup adds little weight but so much more flexibility to your journey than just the bottle. Gather berries, tinder, noise maker ect. The Esbit 5 pc trail kit is my favorite. With a homemade wind screen That coils around the perimeter of the cup for storage you CAN boil 2 cups of water w/one cube. This kit has the room to carry extra cubes, alcohol burner, matches, oat meal, ect. Keep up the great work. Always interesting!

I do have a few of those 5 dollar Walmart cups, problem was putting it in the rolled up kit, this is going to be for a specific type of kit, and there isn't a ton of room, that said I do have a Toaks titanium cup that might be able to fit inside the rolled up kit or on the bottom of the water bottle, thanks for the ideas!

Your right. How I forgot the roll up....age! Walmart also has the collapsible cups for $1.47. Might work....not steel!

Yeah eventually I want to get one of those fold up Bear Bowls, you can boil in them too and they fold flat.

I can only imagine how many tabs will be needed to boil that water bottle. I use 2 esbit tabs to boil 16 Oz of water. In a GSI cup.
@Iridium2426 жыл бұрын
Well the bottle would not be full, I put some markings on it (pretty much dimples it it) for one and two cups. Doing the whole bottle would take forever with those tabs.

Do you have to use the esbit cubes for fuel or can you use anything else?
@Iridium2426 жыл бұрын
Anything, fire starters, small twigs, it will burn anything.

Thank you!!!! I'll have to get one. My husband has several different kinds of small stoves, some round, that he won't let me have just one to pack in my bag.

Great vid' I use esbit foldable emergency stove a lot which I carry in my day bag but I only use the fuel tabs if I can't find any twigs/sticks (free fuel) :) Typical "Yorkshire man" over in the uk

Happy Birthday, cool little stove to put in an emergency bug out bag takes up no space at all, I keep the original style folding stove and 4 tabs in my emergency if stranded bag in my vehicle (in a plastic zip lock bag so no fishy smell) but I can see as you say it's something you don't want to fold and unfold to many times.....good review as always

Well I was a bit stuffed up this AM but I did not smell anything bad, however I did have my side doors open in the shop, so I may have missed it. If you check back a few videos ago I did a review on some that burn super long and have no smell at all!

Happy Birthday. Many more. Mine is 11 days from today. Personally I have a passionate dislike for the Esbit. There are other ways to make a cup of coffee. Never got one of the cubes to fire with flint and steel. So I already have to have fire.
@walkerone98336 жыл бұрын
Have never used an14 gr. Esbit cube that didn't last at least 12 minutes in the field. Usually closer to 14 before what remains is worthless. In my opinion you got a bad cube.

Congrats on Surviving another Year here in the Decline of Western Civilization! I turn 60 on MONDAY, so my Weekend is also BOOKED!😉 BUT you do know that we are already past our ages, right? Or did you not live through the 29th of February every 4 years? So, yes, we have to add them to the list. And I used to wonder why I was born in October, but then I realized just what the heck else my Parents could do in an Ohio February? 😉 Anyway, I've seen those Stoves in other Videos, but I didn't want to buy the MRE just to get the Stove. Though I might hit the Dollar-Type Stores and see if I can find a small Grill to trim down and Add to it so it can hold my Cup of Water. Or maybe just grab a Can Bottom, drill a bunch of Holes, and Trim it to fit? Anyway, Enjoy your Birthday, and Thanks again. Take care.
