Perfection. No long-winded intro, no "filler" content, just the letters of the Esperanto alphabet and how to say them. Thanks for this!

When using the (u), can it palatalize the consonant before it like in commUnism or commUnity?
@AmericanEsperantist6 жыл бұрын
No. The palletized "u" sound is achieved by the letter combination "ju", since "j" makes a y sound.
@lapislazuli2644 Жыл бұрын
No. Every letter makes the exact same sound in every esperanto word. Every letter only has one sound tied to it. All of the sounds can be heared in this video.

Cual es la diferencia de ^J y ^S 😢
@yassinemehdi76888 ай бұрын
Ŝ is unvoiced, while Ĵ is voiced.
@胡利奥6 ай бұрын
"Ĵ" is like the J in french (your vocal cords vibrates when you pronounce it) and "Ŝ" is like the sound you do when you try to shut someone; "shhhh... 🤫" Or in words like sheep, shame, sharp, etc.

I’m learning Esperanto now and I really love it. I’m glad I know the alphabet now, but I have one issue with it. If you have to spell out something phonetically over the phone, a radio, or some other auditory media, you’d be hard-pressed to differentiate all of the consonants if they all are pronounced with ‘o’. ‘C’ and ‘S’ will sound nearly identical. You’d be like, “I’m sorry, did you mean ‘co’ (pronounced “tso”) or ‘so’?” I get that Esperanto was created for extreme facility, but the alphabet could have used some more work. I guess I can use what I learned in the military, with ‘Alpha’, ‘Bravo’, ‘Charlie’, and so on. Or I should say ‘Ĉarli’ rather.

It probably depends on what country you are from. I speak natively Polish and i don't have any problems with c and s and other letters but I see a huge problem with this two h. I find them both almost identical.

Si hablas español igual que yo y tienes la duda de cual es la diferencia de pronunciacion entre la jx/h y la Sx/h es que Jx/h se pronuncia de manera vibrante como si trataras de hacer como abeja con la B,un Bbbbbjho,se siente el vibracion en los labios y garganta no? Pues ahi empieza la diferencia Y la Sx como diciendo "yo" en españa,osea "sho"
@Ale4046 күн бұрын
"Yo" se dice "sho" en Argentina, no en España. Además, no es difícil encontrar la diferencia entre "Ĵ" y "Ŝ". Edición: Argentina y Uruguay*

American Esperantist What about G^ & J^
@AmericanEsperantist6 жыл бұрын
The letter "Ĝ" makes the sound of "J" in the English words "jacket", "jump" or "jelly". The letter "Ĵ" makes the sound of "s" in the word "treasure". If you watch the full lessons on my channel, then you will get a better explanation of everything. This is just a mini lesson, and it doesn't cover everything taught in the full lesson.

What is the pronunciation difference between the normal "h" and the "h" with an arrow above it? Kio estas la prononcdiferenco inter la normala "h" kaj la "h" kun sago super ĝi?
@BogusmanTheSwagman Жыл бұрын
The normal h is a /h/ sound, like in the English words "hat" or "house". The "h with an arrow above it" is a /x/ sound (using the IPA here), like in the proper pronunciation of "dachshund" or in German words like "achtung". It can be a bit of a hard sound to get right, and some people are unable to make it.
