Science and Nonduality

4 жыл бұрын

You can watch all our videos at scienceandnonduality.com
Rupert explores the perennial, non-dual understanding that lies at the heart of all the great religious and spiritual traditions, such as Advaita Vedanta, Kashmir Shaivism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Mystical Christianity, Sufism, Zen etc., and which is also the direct, ever-present reality of our own experience. This is a contemporary, experiential approach involving silent meditation, guided meditation and conversation, and requires no affiliation to any particular religious or spiritual tradition. All that is required is an interest in the essential nature of experience, and in the longing for love, peace and happiness around which most of our lives revolve.
Science and Nonduality is a community inspired by timeless wisdom, informed by cutting-edge science, and grounded in direct experience. We come together in an open-hearted exploration while celebrating our humanity.

“Intellectual humanoids, mistakenly called human beings, in truth posses only 3% of awakened consciousness. If they had even just 10%, wars would be impossible on the face of the earth.” Samael Aun Woer I’m sure he meant humans only use 3%, hopefully we can get it to that 10% but it’s looking like we may not make it this time around. 😔😔 Good thing is, humans disappear, the earth repairs itself and we come back and try again 😉😉

Brilliant! I am inspired after listening to Rupert Spiro's interpretations and analyses with explanations from William Blake, Shakespeare and Picasso (to name a few). Many artists strive to convert their unceasing probing of how and why we co-exist as we do into living metaphors of human experience in this Universe. I agree... God is all around us in everything. The mystery of Consciousness is only revealed when the mind ceases it's busy work in the waking hours. Dream state is a wonderful portal from which to begin exploring as is any creative pursuit, where the ego is set aside and pure thought and inspiration are allowed to come to the fore.

Rupert is great teacher. I note a wide array of various ‘like’ or ‘sort of adverse’ feedbacks. ALL comments are OK in their own perspective. It is said that the Buddha gave teaching with one voice, and all living beings will understand and get the essence according to their own level of consciousness, background, classification, intelligence, karma profile and obstruction , readiness etc.

Great “minds” “think” alike! On Rupert’s last note, the ancient Chinese sage Lao Tze said: That which can be spoken is not The Way (ultimate reality). The which can be named is not its real or true name. What a great convergence of conclusion!

@braincomplex

Depends on how one defines reality. It seems clear our consciousness is not what it seems since our brains hallucinate our reality through our senses so we must agree on something to call it reality then: and I feel deep down it's about love and good intentions all around. “An illusion is something that is Real but is not what it appears to be.” That cracks right through all those attached to the viewpoint of the Absolute that nothing is real. It’s all illusion. He’s saying it’s all the imagination of loving intelligence, all-pervading consciousness at play/leela expressing Itself symbolically. The infinite Invisible is formless pure conscious awareness appearing as matter as Its loving dancing emptiness...quantum wavicle-ing. Who is the observer that sees and knows Itself? “Consciousness is a property of the human.” This that knows Itself to be and not be, both, neither is the foundation, the groundless ground. “Until scientists wake up to their true nature, materialism, which serves, will also serve to destroy that which it serves.” Wow! It’s so evident! Grateful he’s given a stage in which to present that challenge to the religion of science. May all Being awaken. May there be peace among all Being. 🙏

As someone who has always had an interest in spirituality I am not sure how I feel about this. There are a lot of people who understand the concept of Advaita but I wonder how many have truly experienced. Then again perhaps I am just an old sceptic. Thanks for the reply.

I don't think it's a dream like animals dream. God/universe/consciousness is everything, without it there would be nothing, because nothing can logically come from nothing. No, free will and the self is an illusion, but evil is an idea that manifests itself in our reality and the only way we can defeat evil is with good intentions and love.

It may all be true only one thing: this "consciousness" is NOT an object. This seems to be the mistake these "non-dual"- teachers make. This teaching is too abstract and not very practical. Remember: there is no "consciousness" as such. Or "mind" , or "life" for that matter. I think they need a more practical approach rather than this abstract one. Imho.

When a person is an expert on the "essence of non-duality", circular reasoning and bizarre incoherence just comes quite naturally. In a sense, though, I guess this is his calling. I cannot imagine him being able to fit in anywhere else. Some people are militantly incurious about reality. They just do not want to think about reality at all. This SAND group seems to be a home for many such people.
