Here is a quick breakdown of how i do my navy (this example will be as japan) 1) From the start, finish your ships with IC already invested (except the carriers) 2) Remove all your submarines and destroyers into a separate fleet. Continuously train them with repair priority on high, split off enabled. This will give you a lot of naval XP while not consuming too much fuel 3) Once your starter ships are built, start making light cruisers. Don't give them any armor, fire control or radar. Fill all slots with light battery 2, add a secondary battery to the proprietary slot. 4) Depending on when you want to go to war with USA, you will need to time this properly. By the time you enter the war, you will need to have built 4 (!) 1940 carriers with maximum deck size and refitted ALL your custom cruisers with the absolute best fire control and radar you can have. The old carriers should go into reserve, you may use them as a temporary air base if needed. You also need to build around 5 light cruisers with the best radar and sonar, full floatplanes in the top row and max engine. These will be your spotters. 5) Once you're ready to go to war, do the following: 5.1) Count the amount of capital ships and screening ships in your main fleet (remember the split off destroyers?). Ideally, all your screens should be cruisers for the best range and speed possible. However, if you cannot achieve a 1:4 ratio, you should fill the rest with destroyers. DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR DESTROYERS INTO THE STRIKE FORCE!!!!!! Yes, this will give you slightly more light attack, but your fleet will have horrible range, and you need those destroyers for other things. 5.2) Set your main fleet to "Always engage, never repair". Watch their condition manually, if average strength goes below ~60-70%, manually send them ALL to repair. 5.3) Set your main fleet to strike force in the regions patrolled by your spotting fleet. You can also manually send it into battle, this is more effecient but micro intensive. 5.4) Get all your spotter ships, split them and send on patrol "do not engage, high repair priority". 5.5) Get your submarines, set them to "Engage at low risk, medium repair priority". Split them so that every group has 4-6 subs in it, set them to convoy raiding. 5.6) Get your remaining destroyers, split them into groups of 2-3 and set them on "engage at low risk, high repair priority". Set them to convoy escort wherever you need them. This setup will gurantee you can win every naval engagement against AI in the current naval meta. Your cruisers will have a ridiculous amount of light attack which will completely annihilate all enemy screens in a matter of seconds, after which your battleships and carriers will destroy the enemy capital ships completely unopposed. In multiplayer this is trickier to do as people are smarter and I have not tested it, but it might work just fine. Good luck in your games.

I’ve been searching for good naval guides for a long time and your videos have helped a ton. Would you do a video about Nagy structure, like how many ships in task forces? You mentioned that Convoy Raiding Subs should be in packs of 10-20, but how many capital ships should I have in 1 task force, or what does a spotting task force contain? Outside that, excellent videos regarding the navy!
@Hammurabae

So detailed ship usage amounts and styles? The main navy guide I made covers this, the template guide also goes over it a bit.
@damon5529
@damon5529 7 ай бұрын
He Is talking about how many of each ship type he should have in a strike force as well as their ratios. You already covered the ratio of screens to capitals, but you never covered how many capitals you should have in the fleet. The best answer we got was simply super fleet all your ships into one task force and have some scouting task forces out there so the strike force will work. You did mention, at some point, a scouting force with two light cruisers and a number of destroyers (4 I think), but that's as close as you ever got to describing what a scouting force should look like, although you only used it as an example and never recommended it. As to the composition of a fleet? See 71cloak for more details but a short rundown hear is this. A strike force should only have 4 carriers as any more give diminishing returns that are simply not worth it, and an 11 to 5 ratio of heavy cruisers to battlecruisers is optimal for defeating enemy fleets with your heavy cruisers. I'm not sure what the ratio is for heavy cruisers to battleships, but I expect it to be around that range.

Great videos. Question: Do spotters on a patrol mission have to be in the same task force or fleet as the heavier boats on the strike force mission?
@Hammurabae
@Hammurabae 11 ай бұрын
They do not. In fact its best to have them separate on do not engage, if they are under the same admiral in a different task force and identify an enemy fleet a larger main fleet on strike force always engage will do the fighting, or arrive to help after the spotters engage. Putting some in your main fleet is always advised though.

Do you have plans to do any long and explained gameplay regarding the navy? You could make a single video or something playing as a country like the US, Japan or UK to show the process of constructing your navy from scratch, using it to win battles and everything else. Just an idea, I think it would be cool. I understand all the theory, but I get a bit lost in the real thing.

Not sure if I missed this in the video, or if this was covered in another video, but how do you set your ships (or certain task force) to repair at a certain naval base/dockyard? I know this might be an odd question to ask, but this is a major concern I have when invading a country from the other side of the ocean (i.e. if Germany plans to invade USA). I pretty much don't want my fleet to haul all the way back for repairs, or get sunk on the other side of the world.
@Hammurabae
@Hammurabae 8 ай бұрын
You have to take them off their mission by clicking the button and manually move them to the dockyard by clicking the select button for the fleet/task force and right clicking the dockyard icon on the map.

I've always liked the naval aspect, but absolutely hated the fact that it takes forever to build a decent fleet . Also the actual ship designs being on avg 2 years late doesn't help , the 1940 ships should be 37-38 because irl those ships were launched in 39-40-41 not designed ,as it takes 1-2 years to build a capital ship , so your 1940 ship is ready in 42 which is stupid if we go by real life timeline . But i guess paradox doesn't care

What are the pros and cons of stacking all sub task force in one fleet and choosing a high number of regions vs creating smaller fleets with fewer task forces that each have a handful of regions? Does it only come down to micro management preference?
@MG_Majesty
@MG_Majesty 4 ай бұрын
The doomstack is only going to be effective in the region it’s in at the time. So if you have 30 subs in one task force, convoy raiding 3 regions, their efficiency is going to be worse than 10 subs in 3 taskforces covering 3 regions Pro: doom stacking and covering multiple regions when they’re in 1 region, they’ll dominate Con: the regions they’re not in are going to have very low supremacy until they move to it on the rotation

Japan or the UK. Your home area is protected by the sea so theres an innate naval focus, plus you start with great fleets.
@michailshatkus9250
@michailshatkus9250 Жыл бұрын
I would agree. USA is good because you need to do more with your ships, wherethere you fight in Atlantic/ Medeteranian or Pacific, best to skip doing it at the same time though. And there is a huge margin for error. On the other hand they can just build naval bombers and destroy german italian and japanese fleets as well. But you will be able to repair refit your fleet without suffering too much. So basically with USA you can try everything. UK is great as well. If you lose France managing home and Mediterranean theartes(if you want to naval invade in N Africa and etheopia) is quite a challenge at least for me. I haven't really played Japan not fascists anyway. I think being an underdog like Italy can actually give a great experience,though its probably learning the hardway and most probably will only limit your options to deathstaking whatever you have available.
@CarvaxIV
@CarvaxIV Жыл бұрын
I recommend Bulgaria of all nations. You can leave the land fighting to Germany while you core all of the Balkan coast and build a massive navy with the Varna dockyards. -25% production costs and +20% refit speed will allow you to rapidly produce a Mediterranean navy, then refit it to fight in the Atlantic. You get to take on the UK and the USA. It’s my go to nation when I feel like playing a navy game.

I recommend setting up a naval invasion before declaring war, once its done get the invasion a go and declare war, the naval invasion will still go through as long as it doesn't get intercepted by the british fleet (which is unlikely). And then boom you easy sealion, not to mention most of their divisions are not even at the British isles most of the time, so its an easy W (i usually want to do this legit so after i kill the soviets i build a navy).
