Here’s a pro tip. The moment you hit chapter 2, go do the two treasure hunts that I’ve currently got guides for on my channel (yeah, I know what I did, hear me out). In about an hour, you can have $3500 gold which is more than enough to upgrade your camp to max, unlock fast travel and leave you with roughly $2000ish to pay off bounties or buy new gear.

Here's a tip I think is useful. One I don't hear mentioned often, and that's playing in first person. (am I the only one doing this?) I think it's especially useful when hunting, and searching for loot. It pulls you closer into the game world, adds to immersion, and allows you to focus on details in the game you may not notice from a third person perspective. Its awesome...

Tip: Go in the middle of nowhere before you start doing anything that needs your gun (after you get off the mountain) and practice _everything_ for example, practice/figure out how to putting your gun in your holster so you don’t scare the townspeople 😂

For tip number 7. You do not have to hold the run button when using cinematic view. Just double tap. Also you can full on run with your horse and not use stamina in cinematic view. AKA travel mode.

Another tip I’d suggest is to always remember to not forget equipping your main weapons from your horse’s saddle. Been playing this game like crazy since last night and countless times already I’ve done the rookie mistake of forgetting to grab my rifle and bow from my horse after dismounting to run into conflict.

Once you're in cinematic run with a waypoint set don't keep holding a or X, just hold it for a few moments and Let It Go, the horse will continue to travel along the path and you can set your controller down to relax

PRO TIP! To upgrade stamina faster, you gotta sprint. But wait, don’t just mash the sprint button like u do in other games, it’s a timing thing. You gotta tap X/A in sync with Arthur’s strides & the game will give +20 XP to stamina more frequently. Same thing with your horses’ gallops!

couple things 1 - great tip about the dolphin dive. I’ve played this game for hundreds of hours and somehow did not realize that was a thing 2 - pretty sure you don’t have to waste time taking baths. All you have to do is carry a change of clothes on your horse and every time you change clothes you are automatically clean 3 - In cinematic view as long as your horse is already trotting or running it will maintain that speed without any inputs. You can put the controller down and it will still take you to your waypoint

You can tame as many horses as you like. If they are all nearby and you whistle (or tell them directly) they will all follow you. It is very useful when you are planning to go on a large hunting trip as you can stow multiple bodies. Also it is a damn beautiful sight.

Here's a thing I learned today in RDR2 after 30 hours of playing If the horse is too far away from whistling range and you have to run a long distance to mission camp. Just save the game and reloading the game will spawn the horse near you.

the myth that when you have HUD turned off NPCs give more precise directions is not true, you are just more likely to pay attention more to what they are saying so you think they are giving different directions, even Rockstar said that was bogus, and if it wasn't Rockstar have mentioned it at some point, this is from a, i think French, article that later corrected it, but everyone knows how the internet works, false statements travel much faster than corrections

Thanks for the tips there are so many things to sidetrack and lose focus on. Sometimes I will set up a waypoint to check out a spot and no plan survives first contact. I end up distracted by birds and plants and end up on the opposite side of the country! 🤤🤤🤤. So five hours later.. 🤔 I’m wearing gym shorts and a pink tie in the snow capped mountains. I will say this though, it’s worth every minute ⏳🕳

Using two horses at a time while hunting, so you can carry 3 animals back to camp when close, if the other horse is saddled that's 4 smaller animals plus the 3 big animals you can carry(2 saddled horses plus Arthur).

Pace your shots with the trigger button. Load the next round with the trigger button then fire when you are sure you are going land your next shot. Close range targets charging at you can be tough to deal with unless you have shotgun ofcourse. If you dont, try using a handgun and fan the hammer by firing while you are not aiming down sights.

You can put your horse on autopilot if you set a way point then get your horse moving at the speed you want it to and hold the select/cinematic button and you can put down your controller and watch as it navigates the trail.

Grabbed the game Thursday night and finished chapter 1. I'm playing on my XBox X and I'm in love with the 4K graphics, the great sound, and smooth gameplay. There's a slight learning curve but the beginning missions are basic so there's a nice balance. Right now I'm soaking up all tips before I dive back in tonight for more fun.

Minor correction, you don't need to hold down the run button while you are in cinematic mode. Just turn on cinematic mode and you can pop the controller on the floor and wait until you get there (or wait about 30 seconds for another random encounter and then forget what you were doing to begin with)

First, your quotes were TOP NOTCH! Lol! If you would have said, ppl been sayin’ it since 1850 by God. I would have believed you, good joe. Second, I did not know the white marks were sometimes time sensitive, THANK YOU AGAIN! Sadly I get pretty heated when I miss something. Side note: if anyone wants to verify this, but I think if you go back to camp as time is running out on the white markers, the NPC will remind you, I think. I came back to camp for something and got reminded to go collect some money. And! I have two side tips. One, in the menu, if you HOLD B, no matter how far you are in the menu, it will un-pause the game (ppl may know this, but sadly it took my three/four play seasons until I figured this out, I tested it because I was so frustrated by clicking B, four/five times lol! Also, I tested something else I was interested in knowing, and it BLEW MY MIND, when it worked. If a escaped prisoner runs up to you, they want you to break fee their feet cuffs. OR! You can lasso them, take them to the nearest sheriff, and make a few bucks!! I was shocked this worked! Witcher3 (#1)/RDR2 (#2), top two favorite games off all time (controls/tutorial in RDR2 are just not good, IMO)! Hope this helped!

In cinematics you don´t need to hold down the button, if you pressed twice (for example the X in the Ps4), it will keep running, but be careful, it can crash with other things so don´t leave it unattended.

Just a tip; while in cinematic camera on horseback, you can actually tap the sprint button to get up to desired speed and then you can let go of the controller completely without the need for holding in the button. This also allows for your horse to sprint longer distances.

the cinematic travel, you dont need to hold down x or a, the horse will just ride to the place marked or until there is no direct line, in which case the horse will just make a u turn.

The controls are fine. Maybe you're shit? My only complaint is that horses could follow trails better when you're riding alongside companions. They'll do a gentle turn then go off into a tree, or in my case, jump for no reason next to a fence and slam my face into the fence post.
