Still think its Mad Mickey... 1: The phone calls that day. 2: Saw 3 vehicles driving around in formation again like how Bowman wanted before. 3: Donna Jaggers saying Mad Mick was involved with this deal. 4: Craig had heard stories about Mad Mick and Donna was worried about Craig getting involved in this deal. 5: Mickey seemed paranoid and made them drive to a different location on another occasion. 6: Arming them with guns, did the 3 think they could screw Mick over and refuse to pay him and Mick wasn't having it? 7: Mick sold his White Corrado not long before the murders, did he sell the car to upgrade for a getaway car like the white Cosworth? 8: Mick's police interview is full of lies, tried to distance himself from them even though he was involved in this deal & arming them. 9: Mick is now in prison for attempted murder after trying to kill and double cross some drug dealers, feels the same M.O here. 10: Mad Mick was involved in this deal, either he knows who killed them...or he killed them.

It's true that a beige VW Passat wasn't seen turning right from the A130 into Workhouse Lane at the time or on the evening in question. The same could be said of possibly more noticeable vehicles, such as (for example) a Range Rover or Ford Sierra Cosworth. Darren Nicholls was identified as driving a VW Passat near the scene of the crime (please see CS2C's video "The Essex Boys Case | Police Corruption" at 1 minute 42 seconds and 44 minutes 13 seconds). At 51 minutes and 18 seconds into the "Police Corruption" video, Detective Sergeant Brian White states: "Further to this, enquiries made as a result of Darren Nicholls's interview revealed further independent corroboration of his version of events, i.e., a confirmed sighting of a vehicle similar in detail to the one being used by Nicholls in the side road at Rettendon village at the relevant time..." However, we don't know how reliable this eye-witness evidence was. Evidence of a firearm was in fact found in the VW Passat, but it was determined it wasn't the weapon discharged during the TTR killings.

I’ve always been fascinated by the Sierra Cosworth theory purely for the fact i remember what type of characters had them back then. You’re stereotypical cosworth owner in 95 was usually either a businessman, oil rigs worker, unsavoury characters involved in organised crimes i.e drug dealers and gangsters and of course the police themselves but mainly traffic cops. I do believe a Sierra was involved in the murders but not necessarily used as a get away car just purely for the fact a white Sierra Cosworth would have stuck out like a sore thumb at midnight especially due to it’s unique features which you’d think would prompt people to come forward and say they had spotted a cossie after midnight in the Rettendon area and surrounding roads. I am aware that anyone that isn’t up on cars would’ve just passed a cossie off as another Ford and thought no more of it. There has been a lot of red herrings from an escort van, to a white bmw and another Range Rover possibly coming up behind it in the lane so it’s hard to tell what story matches up but I’d put money on it that a cossie was at the soc either after or before the murders but my only doubt on that theory is why would a cossie risk going all the way down the lane to possibly getting stuck there bearing in mind they weren’t the best cars for driving in the snow and if sat at the top of the lane would most likely be spotted waiting. Again Billy Jasper said he used an Uno Turbo over the field at Rectory lane that night so it’s hard to tell what is actually true and what car was used for what it’s like a massive jigsaw 😂

I’m thinking it was actually a 89/90 cossie on a G reg which would make sense for it being a 4x4 and having those particular tyre tracks at the scene. The way Tate was sitting in the middle of the back with legs akimbo each side strongly suggests he was alone in the back and that they followed another vehicle down that lane' stopping behind it leaving them a little distance from the gate. As soon as they came to a stop and their focus was on the car ahead' illuminated in their headlights' the rear offside door was pulled open and shots were fired. The RR was in drive engine on with Rolfes foot on the brake so they cant have been stationary for long at all. Tate and Tucker were sitting comfortably cradling their mobiles between their legs. You can only summise therefore that the car they followed down there was either a trusted contact or simply not considered a threat. Why the remote location? Certainly not the sort of isolated place where 3 paranoid lumps would go for a typical drug deal. It could have been under the pretext of a recce for a potential drug drop from a plane. That is far more credible. From the photos of the site and the wintery conditions' there is almost zero chance of a plane actually landing there safely so it had to be a drop if anything. There are definitely people that know what happened.

Darren appeared to have a lot of vehicles, so on Wednesday 06th December 1995, he left Braintree in Essex to travel to Sunbry On Thames in a Black VW Scirrocco, 5, of them in that vehicle, then he drove back from Sunbury On Thames, to Braintree in Essex, about an hour & half drive in poor weather conditions. He parked the VW Scirrocco up, went indoors, spoke to the wife & children, probably had something to eat& drink, got changed, then got into VW Golf Convertable, drove from Braintree to Marks Tey to meet Mick Steele at 5.00pm, so how did the White Escort Van, get to Workhouse Lane In Rettendon? Unless Colin Bridge, or Peter Cory followed Darren Nicholls, he went to Marks Tey, the other driver went to Workhouse Lane In Rettendon. Also bare in mind, that the police also have/had white Escort Vans, so Maybe Wolfgang Bird in on the killing, or other police officer. Still doesn't explain how the beige VW. Passat got to Rettendon, to Meadow Road, unless of course Mick Steele with one other picked the Passat up from Brsintree, during the late morning, early afternoon of Wednesday 06th December 1995, or perhaps Mick Steele arranged for Pat Tate to pick up the Passat from Braintree, after TTR, left TGI FRIDAY: About 1.30pm,sh, between Pat Tate going to Sarah Saunders mums house about Sarah Saunders VW that broke down at 11.00am that morning. Wasn't the passat going to be used as spare parts, to Tey to fix Sarah Saunders Car; and Jack Whomes, was apparently going to pull the Beige Passat to bits.

If you was going to commit a crime of that magnitude then surly you would want a high performance getaway car. Just in case it came on top and you had to out run the old bill. Surly you wouldn’t rely on a clapped out Passat to get you out of there and as far away before bodies was discovered. I don’t think it would have looked out of place along side the Range Rover in those days they were both classed as top of the range cars and people with money drove them. unlike today every one can afford a high end motor either by buying or leasing one.

Good point, Sydney. A great deal has been made about nobody seeing the Passat being driven around Rettendon during the evening in question. (It turns out that someone actually did report a sighting, but let’s leave that for the moment.) A Volkswagen being loaded on a trailer would have been much more obvious and there were no witness statements to that effect either. Furthermore, the car would’ve had to have been towed to Bulphan along a 17-mile route on fairly busy post-rush hour “A” roads, but this seemingly went unnoticed. (JW didn’t mention a tarpaulin or any other covering in his testimony.) It seems extraordinary that none of the “Wheatsheaf” customers saw JW loading the Passat on to the trailer in the pub car park. (NB - to be fair, it’s possible that JW couldn’t have been identified personally because [A] it was dark and [B] as a teetotaller he probably wouldn’t have ventured into the pub.)
