I am so happy to see you and this new video. I have missed you terribly and hoped that we would see you again. You are the very first KZbin quilter that I followed. I have learned so much from you and often rewatch your older videos. I have made several of your quilts. Hope to see you again soon but regardless I will be patiently waiting.

I was struck by how clearly/coherently you speak of why/what you are doing. This would make a very inspiring book topic. I'm not trying to push you back into projects as much as wishing you would document your journey. Then in a few years put out a book about finding your way to the happy place you've found with this quilt/process. I believe it would help many people to be happier with their quilting. Tks again for your creativity.

I love your videos! This one reminded me of something I thought i would share with you. When I started quilting about 40 years ago, I asked the woman who was teaching me - "how do you know what fabric to buy exactly?" Her response stuck with me and has served me well - she said, "there is only one rule to follow - make sure you really really really love it because you will be looking at it for a very long time." 😀

Wow! Great info from start to finish! I've been making tiny blocks with 2 inch squares, all solid batiks, so many beautiful colors. I have (had)- no idea what to do after I make a zillion 4 piece blocks, but now, after this video, my brain is functioning and I know what to do next! I'm going to get my background color (some kind of printed purple, green, or royal blue batik) and start making actual quilt blocks! So many great ideas you just gave me, thank you!!!

Stripology squared ruler came out when I started quilting, lucky timing for me, I love that ruler! I use the other side of the smaller mat because it doesn’t have any lines to distract me. Scrappy looking quilts are my favourite!
@sandybruce90922 жыл бұрын
Yes! I have these Stripology rulers if a few sizes along with my trusty Accuquilt machines. And I, too turn my mats over to the non-ruled sides - I. The old school I was told that the lines aren’t accurate - so I measured one day several months ago! Found out that, yes, they are actually every accurate - at least me lovely green Olfa mats are!! But I still use rulers!!! Thanks so much for all your info - we are in our way back home to NC from CO visiting out family so I’m stuck in the car with my iPad and EarPods😄😄. Cutting is in my schedule when I get back home!!!!!

This is fabulous. I love long term patchwork using tiny scraps as its the patchwork I enjoy, rather than the quilting. I think a lot of teachers demonstrate quick quilts as being desirable. It is nice for a beginner to have a finished product quickly, but to me patchwork is like gardening, it takes time to sew a seed and help it grow until it finally flowers. So if you want something quick, make a little throw or cot quilt. They are just as satisfying.

Greetings! I'm so glad you are feeling better about quilting. I have a huge amount of strips and scraps. I love the Villa Rosa patterns and just finished a scrappy Mazed top. I have a win-win situation where I can make any pattern, send the top to ND, and a friend finishes them and they are sent to either Mexico or Africa. So my tops are the same as yours. So many friends give me their scraps, whether large or small. I also make hundreds of dog/cat beds for the shelters. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season.

I do NOT want to leave all this fabric behind to end up in the wasteland of "baby boomer" stuff...LOL I have all my scraps cut in either 2.5 or 5" squares... right now the favortie is "charms on point" by MSQC.. i love monochromatic... pick a color and use all i have...can't wait to see what else you come up with...
