@@drwhoreviewguideExcept for that bit about the animation…have you NOT seen the more recent BBC animation of it? Because if THAT’S what you were speaking of here, then what you said was absolute NONSENSE! There’s no need for narration or captions WHEN YOU CAN JUST WATCH THE BLOODY THING…WHICH YOU CAN NOW!

@@christopheralthouse6378 I addressed this in the 'Power' review so didn't feel it necessary to repeat it in this one, but in short: a) The post-2016 animations tend to be reimaginings on the stories based on the soundtracks rather than outright recreations as had been on the DVDs beforehand. This is fine, it allows them to have a wider audience and scope, but ultimately means they are not accurate recreations of the original stories, and therefore of limited use when the point of this review was to look at the original production of 'Evil' b) I simply don't think the animations are anything like having it back. While they are appreciated, it is still fairly low budget flash animation and I find it difficult to get into. I understand why it is, it obviously won't have a huge budget and that's fine, but it means it's rarely something I can really get into.

I've come to view "Evil of the Daleks" as the story that ends "Act One" of the entire ongoing saga of "Doctor Who" as a whole. With the Doctor, although wearing a different face, returning to the scene of his, almost but not quite, first proper adventure, and finishing off his greatest enemies once and for all. Although, as you pointed out, this wasn't the case.

I agree that was probably the intent from the production team at the time. In the end though, I think you'd find it difficult to argue Act One of Doctor Who ends with anything other than 'The War Games'
