Okay... I think I like the DBZ Kakarot interpretation of Bardock's death. Funnily though, I always had a bit of a headcanon... Frieza's men had pushed Bardock right to the edge in killing his team. Bardock was teetering on the verge of becoming what Goku did become, but Frieza killed him without making that fatal mistake. Here, Bardock didn't have a 'Krillin' for Frieza to slaughter because he'd already lost his team, so that final barrier was unbreakable when he needed to break it.

I think one of the things that made DBZ so intriguing to me as a kid in the 2000’s was the mystery of Bardock and the Saiyans. Like how we barely see him make any appearances before Super and that lack of screen time added to the lore of Bardock the Saiyan. It was truly a different time to be a DBZ fan. No shows or manga in production so the community took it upon themselves to make some incredible fan content. I remember wishing it would make an official return, and I’m glad it has. But a part of me misses the imagination I used to have for this part of the series.

@@Goatgeta44 Disclaimer: i'm not throwing shit at the Bardock DLC, I am only giving out my point of view (coming out from a Bardock fan) That was in a not canon 2011 OVA as a spin off of both the 1990 OVA, yeah it saddens me that it is not canon (even the whole DLC is not canon (being the actual canonic story the prologue of DBS Broly) but an expansion of what would've canonically happen, if the 1990 OVA was canon). So yeah, this might be an answer from the first comment in this part: Bardock is dead, both canonically and not canonically, but if you want to see more of him, you should read the Granolah Arc in the Dragon Ball Super manga, you will not be dissapionted (note: the bardock in the manga is the one that appeared in the Broly movie of 2018 if you're wondering) Anyways, I enjoyed watching the DLC, I hope you enjoyed it as well.
