Between him MacKinnon and Rantanen, it's a good time to be an avs fan! That team is just so fun to watch and I wont be suprised to see a couple more big pushes for cups in the coming years as long as they can stay healthy.

And anyone who doesn't watch him will never understand just what kind of impact he has. He's on the power play, on the penalty kill, and he's just as good defensively as he is offensively. And just look at how often he's creating space by actually standing outside the zone but keeping the puck just on the blueline.... He's the complete 2-way player.
@gatesgates77882 жыл бұрын
He’s definitely not as good defensively as he is offensively.

Excellent analysis. The way you draw the through-lines from his development years to his pro career is impressive. I especially liked how you included analysis on his defense and physicality, not just his offense. People who don't watch him play regularly often call him soft or say he's all offense. I appreciate that you pointed out that such descriptions are simply BS.

I have played hockey for many years and what makes Cale great seems true for most great players I have come across. They find a formula that works for them. They tend to have 2-4 plays they make consistently. Maybe plays is the wrong term the best players have a principle they apply consistently and it creates opportunities.

I really believe being around MacKinnon has made him an even better player. Mac is know to be a perfectionist with an amazing high standard for himself and those around him. I think all that has rubbed off on Cale on and off the ice. Add in others like Rantenen and Landeskog and a coach like Bednar and you have the completion of putting the final touches on a generational player. Also, with Mac on the ice at the same time, its literally unfair, who do you cover, they have a fluid offence built on the constant motion of these players.

I remember wanting him so fckn bad. I figured the wings didn’t have a shot it’s the 9th pick. I just remember watching his highlights and was mind blown with his offensive game. And he ends up becoming a damn Gem 💎

Is MAKAR the McDavid of defenceman 🤔😁
@place_desjardins2 жыл бұрын
I was quite the dangerous defenseman in my men's league, division 5, where division 1 is the top level and division 6 is the bottom level. Cale Makar can snipe and dangle, and I can't, but I was able to decrease the effectiveness of the opposing team's offense. When I stepped on the ice, I was shutting everything down in my zone, except for the occasional breakaway. I meant to stop the puck but it got around me... that kind of silly stuff. I'm not going to dwell on my mistakes. Anywho, I'm on LTIR, long-term injured reserve, for those who don't know what that acronym stands for. Oddly enough, our team is performing the same without me. 😢

Just a reminder that Colorado was a playoff bubble team prior to Cale's arrival. They only became dominant after he joined the team. Cale is not great just because of the team he plays on. The team he plays on is great because of him.
@unit-0-2 жыл бұрын
On an average team he would be even more dominant. Less stars to share with, and more cause for him to do it himself. I don't know why people think like this, it's the opposite of what y'all think ;)
