Yann Pissenem (and his trademark €600 Vetements T-shirt) is the embodiment of what has gone wrong in Ibiza and the subsequent assassination of everything that Ibiza used to be: authentic, inclusive, raw, unique. His argument about the "couple" dancing and feeling "proteced" inside a prive sums it up perfectly. Every year one step closer to Vegas.

His whole company group and clubs is the biggest money making scam on the island. It's insanely unbelievable how he gets away with selling 3x the tickets of the capacity of his venues and no authority stops this. Besides making it impossible for people to enjoy themselves, they are cramped to a point where just moving your hand is impossible, it's also a major safety concern. If an emergency happens, people won't be able to escape safely - there will be casualties... :(

It is extortionately overpriced.. everyone just stands with their camera phones out, rather than experiencing the moment in the moment. The health and safety in ushuaia is non existent.. I have been clubbing for over 25 years- I went to Calvin Harris last year and there was so many people crammed in that I actually had an anxiety attack and had to leave. This documentary is really interesting because in the last year in my opinion the costs and the prices are literally too much expensive. I trust in a solution where government will equilibrate the richest and exclusive parts of the island with the best solutions for local people. It isn't possible transform Ibiza in a rich island for large pocket people! This isn't Ibiza! I love Ibiza for her soul and for her heart, when you wander the streets in the middle of the Island you feel a sensation without comparison: freedom, carefreeness and a little bit nostalgia of the past. How come so many successful, influential mainstream DJ's that say they bring people together through music for creative passion and positive energy but followed the 'science' and government propaganda did nothing but remain silent whilst others did not. Obviously if that will affect their income, personal reputation or status then by remain silent is exactly what they did....i thought it was a community of peace loving free thinking individuals. These 'superstars' did nothing to use their powerful cultural influence to speak out about the global tyranny through their own cowardice, or most likely on the music industry payroll which is totally controlled by wealthy powerful social engineers, elite global think-tanks and agenda driven corporations. Imagine being a maverick, cultural and anti-establishment club owner or record label wanting to show love, peace and harmony but you open and profit your clubs because you served the WHF and WEF agenda because you choose to conform to this agenda for personal profit whilst many with a backbone lost their livelihood because they did push back against the regime. Sadly I was too young so I missed out on warehouse raves and when I got the chance to go to beefa in the 2000,s I said nah , the beefa I wanted to go to does not exist anymore it's way to commercial. I did 10 summers in Ibiza it was almost religious for me to go there and I have some amazing memories, my problem with Ibiza's evolution isn't all the new legislation it's the pickpocketing, scamming, overly agressive policing and the change in music/club culture. You only need to go to the top of the West End and try to avoid the prostitutes whilst hiding your money to get a glimpse of the underlying problems. I remember the first time I landed in Ibiza and it was everything I hoped it would be, fast forward a few years and the amount of people crammed in especially at Ushuaia and Amnesia makes it uncomfortable. Whilst it is likely profit maximization it's trashing the image of Ibiza. You can't dance in a sardine can, but you can hold up a mobile phone which is they way it's gone.

As the saying goes: "It's all gone, Pete Tong'. VIP can't keep on holding the roof up forever. Ibiza needs normal tourists that spend 'normal' money on a drink and create the vibe on the dancefloor. VIP is BS anyway, it is a tiny drop on a boiling plate. When millions of people start to avoid Ibiza, the dancefloors will be empty and VIP will get bored rather fast. Eventually the prices will come down automatically. That will happen sooner than anyone thinks. There are other places on the planet that can easily compete with ibiza and are far cheaper.

Great movie. I like that it also shows how the clubbing started on Ibiza. My first visit on the Island was in 2006 and so far I’ve come back eight times. On Ibiza I’ve discovered House Music and Hippy life. Since my first visit I fall in love in Ibiza and had there my favourite holidays in my life and created the best memories which will stay with me forever. My last visit was in June 2024 and I was interested if the Ibiza still has the same vibe after pandemic. I’m the party goer so the clubs are a big thing for me and unfortunately I have to say that party experience on that holiday was the worst I ever had. I’m really sorry to say this because I love Ibiza, but this is sadly true. The clubbing experience I had before (mainly between 2006 - 2015) was superior compared to what is happening now. Previously most of the nights in most clubs been a really unique experience. Each night was like a show (Manumission, La Troya, Matinee, SuperMartXé, La Espuma) with lots of dancers, acrobats, decorations and so on. My favourite club was Amnesia, especially when club won the multiple awards for the best club in the world. So when I went there it feels like I’m in special place with unique atmosphere. Another great place was Privilege. Also that time the parties been much more wilder/sexy and to see for example a topless dancer was a usual thing. Currently there is nothing compared to what Ibiza had to offer in terms of clubbing experience. Luckily the music is still great, but that's pretty much all. I understand that the prices went up but what the clubs has currently to offer for what they charge is very little. So you pay let say 65 euro to get in and what you see inside is let say three professional dancers (if you lucky) and poor decorations. There is no show, pretty much music only with a few lights here and there. For that I don’t need to go to Ibiza. I know that the music is the most important part of the club, but this is Ibiza - people expect more than just the great music. For example, what happen on night out to Amnesia. Previously they had lots of professional dancers and great shows. Now, very poor experience. The place where used to dance at least few dancers now I can see VIP people only with no show. Another night I went to HI Ibiza. This club won recently the award for the best club in the world. So the expectations been high. And you know what - this club was one the worst party experience I ever had. Club was massively overcrowded with no dancers at all (at least that time when I’ve been there), very poor overall decorations. I left after about an hour. These are only a few examples of how clubbing went massively down in Ibiza. You pay twice more for three time less experience. Also I saw much less hippies on the Island, which is a shame. To be honest I still love Ibiza for the great time which I had there before and this Island always will be in my heart, but after my last holiday I’m not sure if I will be rushing to comeback there. That Ibiza vibe which was so special in the past is not there anymore. Many club owners think only about squeezing as much money as they can from the club goers with not giving much back.

Lived on the island for 4 years. In a nutshell sadly the locals who staff the bars, the shops, the restaurants work long days, aggressively hunt for accommodation they can afford and most of them are having to share rooms with people to pay the rental costs. Ibiza makes 100,000.000 in 6 months, they need to help the locals. So many expensive flats bought by the super rich who only come to the island and be in their house/villa for 2 weeks a year….give so little to the economy. The ones that come in their yachts eat and party on their boats and then will have a few nights out at the super clubs. The local shops are suffering like clothes shops. The unique shops that make Ibiza so special are on their knees. The massive cruise ships arrive for the day and the tourists just buy a fridge magnet, they don’t spend back on the ship for lunch or dinner. The government wants the island to be for the super rich, they want it to be a luxury island. You can’t compare Berlin to Ibiza. Berlin is a capital and has many revenue streams. Ibiza it’s clubbing and yes to a smaller extension health and well being. I hope a solution can be met as the locals are wonderful people, living in paradise but surviving on very little money….ibiza really is a special place.❤

I went back to Ibiza this summer for first time in over a decade and I thought it was sad to see the daytime party vibes are now all enclosed inside those big hotel beach club complexes. Much prefer the days of Bora Bora at PdB beach. Now that beach is way quieter. The authorities and their noise pollution rules obviously a major factor too. But it was only one section of the beach where you had the music and main party vibe, to get a quieter vibe people could still find it down the beach in either direction. And of course there are loads of family friendly quiet and music free beaches already in Ibiza for those who prefer that. Basically one of the key aspects that differentiated Ibiza from nearly all other holiday destinations and they chose to take it away. Crazy.

Great point is that there is need to attract young ravers to the island for holidays. I was one of such young people, who now cannot get rid of the wish to come back to the island twice a year 😂 Basically all our important soul connections are being built when we are young. Also this is important to organize affordable events/parties for local people. Build affordable accommodation for stuff. I was holidaying in Ibiza every year since 2001 and moved there to open a bar/restaurant in 2012. Even by that point the change was evident. The rise of the daytime superclub of Ushuiai, tacky table service gaffs like Ocean Beach and then the transition from Space to Hi all signalled a changing of the guard in Ibiza along with changes in regulation which were more favored towards benefitting the daytime parties, funnily enough Ushuaia being owned by Matutes, Ibizas richest man. Everything changes i guess and things are ‘never as good as they used to be’ but in Ibizas situation, that definitely is the case… Bottle service and VIP can be found all over the world, Ibiza really must struggle on to retain or should I say regain it’s Island magic

Been there only three times in the 2000´s, the nights i spent in Pacha and Space were epic, and every time i think to go back, i think, maybe i shouldn't go, maybe i want to keep my memories intact. im afraid that going back will ruin my image of what was for me, one of the best party moments i had in my life... The world is changing, and everything is changing with it, including the party scene.

I was there last week. My 7th time in 25 years. I also loved the early 2000's so very much. The Space terrace,Bora Bora,DC10,... I was totally in love with the island. That vibe is long gone. If that vibe was still going strong i would definetly go out for a couple of nights. Even though i'm 50 now. Right now It's all about the money ,the rich ,the fame, big business, phones in the air,no dancing... That real Balearic feeling is gone. But I guess were also getting older and times change. I'ts still a fun island to visit when it comes to the island itself. But I think this was my last time...maybe... And glad i was part of it back the.

Well, I was expecting to actually learn about the evolution of Ibiza, which is what the title was promising. Unfortunately it felt like the history was fast-forwarded. Hippies were mentioned, but it would have been nice to hear some interviews of those hippies - I guess there are some still alive, no? It would have been nice to hear the interviews of the locals who have lived decades there as well to understand the evolution over time. It would have been nice to hear a bit more about the history of Pacha as it was (and still is) an essential piece of night life. Flower Power was mentioned, but it would have been nice to hear about also the tracks that were popular back then. A lot of time was spent repeating the COVID-19 theme, but since this wasn't supposed to be the documentary how COVID-19 affected the Ibiza, this part could have been squeezed shorter. The sharing of the income that the tourists are spending and the high prices is a real issue and almost a daily topic in the newspaper Periódico de Ibiza. It's important to raise the awareness, but given the context of the document, it would have been enough to keep this message shorter as well. Audiovisual material had good quality and the story was easy to follow-up. The interviews of club promoters and DJs were interesting and Carl obviously knows a thing or two of the evolution of the club scene in any given location. Since AlphaTheta / Pioneer DJ were involved, this could have become a hardware advertising video, but luckily that pitfall was avoided.

Praise to the makers of this film. Many important aspects were presented well. The housing shortage for employees and locals, just like in Mallorca, is causing a lot of social unrest, and rightly so. A problem that the government of the Balearic Islands must address, otherwise it will become a major problem for everyone. Personally, I found some of Yann/HI's statements to be very absurd and far removed from reality, and it is only thanks to the Matutes family that he can spend money without limits. But creativity is not made with money, but with thought. Ibiza is becoming arbitrary and interchangeable, and people then go to Hungary, Croatia or other places, because there they have the same video walls, the same DJs and the sound system is just as good, but you can have a great week with 4,000 euros, and in Ibiza it's 3 days and you've also spent 4,000. The development, as correctly recognized in the film, that 30-year-olds suddenly discover their love for IBIZA is unlikely. Ibiza will have a problem if the 20-year-olds stay away. Ibiza has always been expensive, but now it has simply become antisocially expensive. Not a good development.

I understand that Covid was in particular tough for people that worked in the industry but I wonder if that 2 years period helped SOME djs/producers to spend more time with their families, maybe slow down on partying and travelling and focus on more their physical/mental health and extended the careers?

i bought a one-way ticket there for a couple summers late 90s , found a used bicycle, rented an apartment for the summer, had pure ecstasy time there, can't believe nobody hit me, lol no bike lanes, hope that's changed - no phones back then, if you wanted photos it was daytime 35mm cameras, nobody taking photos on the dancefloor, sound was just as good , but i really want to experience the new upgrades Pacha has done and what will happen to Privilege? there was always just a handful of USA peeps there, loved getting the fresh squeezed orange juice, beach Salinas daytime, stayed in great shape, somehow found some time for sleep

Very interesting inquest. Since 2002, i go to Ibiza for summer holidays, in my opinion the point of view is: in which way do you want to enjoy Ibiza ? Party prices are every year increased a lot, but you can find also today some locals and places that remember the native Ibiza spirit, at low prices. For the future, it is clear that the island will have less tourism in order to advantage VIP people that spend lots of money preserving the annual incomes. But, instead of any consideration and evolution, Ibiza is Ibiza. A magic island.

You can't beat the late 90s into 00s ibiza, and its slight lawlessness, bring that back😂 . A few beers from the supermarket, head down to the beach near Café del Mar, see the sunset. Then west end to get on it, pop in the ticket shop, hit a superclub for some Euphoric trance. Superstar DJs lugging a big bag of tunes with them. On more gear than all the punters combined🤣 then Into a supermarket for some lays for breakfast, then thinking it would be a good idea to go Space all day😮😅. These 20yr olds dont know what they are missing... Oh and it financially ruined everyone back then just as much😂

The legendary magic no longer exists, that magic has been gradually eroded into the dirt over the last 15 years by gross over-commercialism and greed. Ibiza used to be a place where people went and revisited because they felt like they belonged there, now it's just a place to be seen, an Instagram poser paradise which just encapsulates the modern social media VIP culture. I experienced Ibiza and the clubbing scene as a whole through the late 90's through to the mid / late 2000's when you were surrounded by people caught in the headlights of euphoric moments, absorbed in that special energy which you lived and breathed, now those moments are just a sea of zombies on a dancefloor holding mobile phones in the air. I'm not going to pretend that if smartphones existed 20 years ago we wouldn't have done the same, this isn't about saying "we were better than you", it's just fact of modern life and the way the world is now, people don't party anymore, they just gather, all desperately seeking social acceptance. That island will always have a special energy, but the Ibiza experience itself is dead, its a place driven by business and greed rather than by real people all coming together for the same thing. I'm sure plenty will disagree with me but when you've seen what Ibiza has evolved into over the last 15 years it's literally a different place.

There are so many new Djs and Event makers now in the whole world and im one of them. I can feel the copetition and greed in many, but i am in it because of the vibes i get connecting with others throug music. I even hoste free underground raves and playing for free my self. Because i love everything around it. Telephones and VIP have nothing to do with music. I host and play more underground music and just laughe when i see and here this. I not want to go to ibiza ore any other music destination or music event to go to a VIP room. Im so proud and happy to say that i have experienced the early 90s on the dance floors.
