I am a die hard TR fan and have been since I was a little girl. I remember I was 5 years old and I would sit with my mum and watch her play on my little PS1 that I got when I was 4 years old and oh my god it was great. Ever since then I have played each game and have finished ever single one. I have to confess that I loved the old Lara so much more than I do the new one. The new Lara just isn't the same. She is weak and nothing like I would have imagined Lara to be when she was younger. The old Lara I looked up to as a role model. She was a strong woman who did things by her rule book and I wanted to be like her. I still do! I want to be that strong independent woman and that was something the new game did not deliver for me. I still love Lara though and I hope that future games will be better than the newest reboot and take us back to some of the classic times with Lara. If not I will still play them...though I fear that I may eventually slip back to the old games and just play them over and over again.

The reason Lara doesn't seem the same in the new Tomb Raider is because it's a reboot and it also shows how Lara came to be a badass.

Lara Croft is my favourite game and I grew up with her and her adventure games.While playing and listening to the main soundtracks makes me have some weird feelings about her. I remember that when I was younger I believed that she was a woman in real life.Too bad she is not.My dad grew those feelings to me for Lara,he learnt me how to play and I was next to him,watching him playing till midnight.I have finished most of her games(the 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,Legend)but I have stuck at the game ''The Angel Of Darkness''(and i believe that this is the best and the most diffucult) Thanks to everyone who made such a nice videogame... I grew up with the TR series too and to be honest I like her look in AOD the best. It was my favorite as well since it was the only tomb raider I could beat without help. My siblings and I worked as a team back then figuring things out together when we got stuck. I gotta admit although I didn't like the CD versions as it really didn't provide any challenge compared to the old games. I'm hoping the recent version of Lara will grow to resemble the one from the originals.

I really prefer the old version of Lara Croft (1990's). At the beginning she is a real and mature beautiful woman. In the last version she has a baby face, looks like a shy little girl :(

The game plays it out like its her first time by herself. All the notes and documets in the game hint at it. She wasnt prepared for a battle, she didnt even have her guns. You cant have an old mature lara on her first mission that would be dumb. She had to start somewhere.

DandTprod Something is missing from the Tomb Raider reboot. I liked the game, but it feels weird for some unexplainable reason. I'd give it at most an 8.75.

I always liked the Core Design developers more than Crystal Dynamics , i mean alot has changed since 1996 but they seemed to keep a sence of the trueness to the games along the way. Me personaly , i think the first three were masterpeices even though i find the most recent ones a step in a new generational direction as well as Camilla Luddington is a great profile for the new Laura. I do look foward to the future on Crystal Dynamics and what they will bring to us.

I really like the latest version of lara. They made it more realistic.. her body is more realistic not those boobs whos even bigger than a balloon.. just normally shaped boobs. Her emotions are more realistic. Her hair is beautifull and her face?? Wow she became really pretty

That old music brought back a lot of good childhood memories, I loved Lara when I was a kid! It's amazing to see how far she has come! Amazing! I'm glad to see the new game hasn't strayed away from the supernatural theme it began with. Lara Croft is a reason I am proud to be British!

I started playing this game when I was about 4 years old. Back in 1998. TR II is my favorite. Then TR III & TR IV. I also love LEGEND. Underworld was good too. The first game and Chronicles were great too. Angel Of Darkness has never been my cup of tea.Can I just say that this game is so damn epic... for me at least. I want to go back in time and play the levels for the first time to explore everything. Currently I'm playing TR IV.It's so damn amazing! I love LARA and thanks for this amazing vid

I still like the older themes (1 to 3/Anniversary) better than anything that they've made so far... Those songs gave the player something to relate to, and gave the game an identity, a feeling of "okay, now I'll be tomb raiding". The other themes, just conveyed that "general-and-non-especifc-idea-of-grandeur" that every block-buster or epic game has...

Very good Lara video! Well done! (Liked how the music changed too with every game). Just a short story: I had played TR 2&3 and had bought "Last Revelation" but had not played it yet. I was playing other games and my wife played "Last Revelation". I helped her through some hard parts and was watching the game progress. When she reached the end and I saw that Eidos basically tried to kill Lara off, I could not believe it! To play a game all the way through to have THAT ending! Then they put out "Chronicles" to back up the idea that Lara had died. To this day, I still hate Eidos for doing that and STILL have not played "Last Revelation". As we all know, Lara is alive and doing very well. Thank God! LoL! I do own and enjoy AOD, Legend, Underworld, and 2013.

Tomb raiding is an act of uncovering ancient artifacts or secrets in the residence of the deceased, a place forbidden to all living beings. Trying to survive in such a place with limited resources and possible competition from rivals is what Tomb Raider is about. I must say the first 4 games did an excellent job trying to stick to the theme, though TR3 involved relatively less tombs.

fully agreed. I'd left the TR franchise for dead prior to the reboot, now I'm a huge fan again. the new Lara is perfect. also the 2013 reboot is one of the best-looking games I've ever played. you can tell the developers really put their hearts into it all.

The new tomb raider seems to be a really great game with a great story that previous tomb raider games lacked. Tomb Raider had to evolve to stay relevant in this economy. Uncharted took what the old tomb raiders did and made it more realistic and gave the main character a personality with a supporting cast. Reboot tomb raider is turning lara into a relatable character, multiplayer is just an added bonus and dlc is not exclusive like underworlds dlc was. I'm really excited for this new take on TR

You realize that just because someone has a different opinion, it doesn't mean they're not a fan, right? You can think one is better than the others. Not all Lara's are the same Lara. TR2013 shows how that specific Lara became someone who was broken & had to put herself back together in an unfamiliar & hostile environment in order to survive, thus becoming the bad ass adventurer we love, where as, let's say TRL Lara, became the adventurer she is (presumably) because of her mothers disappearance.

I remember playing tomb raider 1 and the music is so iconic... You can really tell when crystal Dynamics started as Lara looks more realistic. Looking forward to the new game coming out plus the film. Die hard fan of tomb raider here lol. Does anyone else who plays the old core games keep having to go back to "pick something up", only to realize it's just the graphics? lol

The ones I've never played were 1, 3 and Underworld. I played and finished the rest. I love the challenges of the classics, but I love how Lara became beautiful with better graphics, and the landscapes too. I wish they had continued the Egypt story after Angel of Darkness.

Tomb Raider just arrived today (and the OST) and I'm really excited to play it, but I have to wait until the weekend (deadlines... *sigh*) but I love this evolution. I wasn't going to play Tomb Raider, but I played all the others and not playing this one didn't feel right. I've got to say that I'm so glad Lara is a proper action hero - she was a big influence for me growing up, to be honest.

I hate how everyone is like "OMG SHE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE LARA" (the new Lara Croft). And I'm just like, "Yes, she does. All the other Lara's are kind of cartoonish. They actually went the route of REALISTIC graphics. If Lara was a young, REAL person, this is what she would look like." Great video btw!

Well, Square Enix has many of the same people who worked on Uncharted in their team. Both games are action/adventure games that focus on treasure hunting/ tomb-raiding (in a way). Both games contain platforming elements that are great. I love both franchises to death, but if it came to a decision of purchasing another Uncharted or Tomb Raider, I'd have to see what trouble Lara is causing. I grew up playing the originals and never beating them lol. Many frustrated hours playing, but I loved them

As someone who has seen the games evolve from the first to this new game in 2013, It's going to be really nice to see Lara as something other than a sex object without personality or character development. If you like Tomb Raider, Try Uncharted 1,2 and 3 . They are basically games with a male Lara, his name is Nate Drake, and he is trying to find out about his hidden past, about Sir Francis Drake. Its a really good series of games and im addicted!

It looks more Like a Resident Evil game or something now. I played all of the TR since i was really young, my whole family loved them. 1 - 3 were probly my favs. Lara Croft being lara croft, raiding tombs, fighting mummys, finding Ancient Artifacts, adventuring is what it is all about. The new one the music isnt the same, Lara isnt the same and the levels arnt the same styles as the original Tomb Raiders so it dosnt give me the original TR Lara Croft feel anymore. Bt stil keen to give it a go!

I'm a big fan of Tomb Raider When i first got TR3 I was before 10 years old and I didn't know what was going on and who was Lara but the game was amazing till I wasn't allowed to save the game and lost everything Oh well LOL When i got Legend I got a better understanding of Lara Croft and the big picture of her and Tomb Raider. I watched the movies played the games and watched walkthroughs of the games i haven't played. The Reboot was amazing to me and I can't wait to see more. Lara Croft FTW!

True, but it seems to me the team is taking it in that direction, making it more of a cinematic exprience rather than just any ordinary video game. I think the reason why is because in the trailer you see Lara climbing something (I don't know what it is), but it looks very similar to the first level of Uncharted 2 where you're having to climb this train in order to get to level ground.

Nice video, smart selection of pictures. The problem is that most of them are artwork pieces, not clips from the gameplay itself, which means that one can't get an idea of what a previous game looks like if they haven't tried it. By the way, compare TR 1-8 to 2013... First, a Lara explorer, eager to discover astounding landscapes, solve riddles, navigate challenging terrains... now, a "justified" killer, a sky raining enemies down, a game with too much cruelty to be enjoyable. Just a thought :)

I think that it's the idea of portraying her as the growing Croft. Through her youngness she doubts she's on par with her parents as she looked up to them so much but then when the opportunity to prove herself arises, the game, she will follow what her parents done - mainly because she's not left with a choice about it. That's the impression I get from seeing the trailers. I could be wrong

Plus, if TR1 main theme was iconic for all the later parts (at least those made by Core Design), TR3 got the best rework of it. Not to mention TR4 main theme, which was unique and yet still well-placed into the series. Try to find ANY iconic music in Crystal Dynamics "games". I hardly remember ANY tune from them, even if the music is playing almost constantly.
