Thank you Eric. I’m a Nio shareholder 6400 shares at an average of 35.84. Nio is a great company however I believe that Nio will have to raise money and possibly will reverse split I’m not trying to be negative. I believe Nio is an outstanding company however to realize this future a lot more investment will be required. The real growth may be several years from todays date. Good luck to all.

Between my two Nios, I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience over the last two years. Only twice have I had an issue, and both were resolved relatively quickly. As you pointed out, the technology is developing rapidly. On a side note, I saw a video of what appeared to be a vending machine inside a swapping station, using a robot arm to dispense the drink. I have no idea the details, but you might be getting that snickers bar before too long 🙂

Thanks Eric for the nice video. I would to add that battery swap maybe as fast and better than gas stations since user dont have to come out in the rain , snow and hot weather. And also user might just let the car go swap itself while user can do something else

I believe battery swap stations would be the universal solution for EVs if manufacturers could agree on standard battery pack sizes, something like 1 pack for small vehicles, two packs for medium sized vehicles and three packs for large vehicles. A standard for batteries across all brands would be such a great solution. Even if it took 10 minutes to change the batteries it would be a vast improvement today's charging plus battery charging could be optimized (no more fast charging, which is actually not good for the batteries) done by educated professional battery maintenance people at the change stations and/or better chargers that guarantee longer battery life. Owning a vehicle whose life-spam will no longer be determined by the battery life-span (the batteries make up 50+% of the vehicle cost) would be an additional bonus.

Battery Swap is awesome, super convenient and relatively fast. My only concern is capacity and is Nio doing enough installation of power swap stations? Onvo is getting ready to launch and if Nio/Onvo goes to 30,000 units per month. They're going to be F-ed. Or, should I say us the customers. I have noticed more vehicles waiting to swap which is great, but, longer wait times or being diverted to another station further away at times raises the question. Still, love our car and would never think about changing to another brand.

Even if they had to wait longer for a swap on busy days, swap capability enabled their battery lease, that's the main driver of opting for swap anyways.

I'm not too worried. In Haikou, there is rarely a line. Also, the more cars they sell, the more stations they'll build. Just in the last 2 years, I've seen the number quadruple in my city.

How big of a % deployment does each version 1,2,3 and 4 account for in China? 15%, 35%, 45% and 5%? Do people still happily use version 1? I wonder what the costs are to replace a version 1 with a version 4 or 5? Its amazing tech, but darn it seems very costly 🤔
@jasoninchina
@jasoninchina Ай бұрын
My city has a couple first generation pss. I use them occasionally. They're totally fine. You just have to get out of your car for 5 minutes. And in terms of replacing them, I assume the cost of renovation is not worth it at the moment. It's better to build more and circle back in a few years. As I mentioned, they're still very much usable.

Jess Bezos ones said "The stock is not the company, and the company is not the stock.". You know how bad Amazon was doing back in the day? They had the same stock price movement NIO had in the last 3 years and now look at where they are. You wish you bought AMZN stock from 20 years ago? NIO has a great technology here, get some stocks now if you believe in what they are doing and just wait...

It seems that Gen1 swap station is about 200 of them in China but are people actually using them? or they have become just a trash, because it would be better for the NIO to rebuild them into Gen 2 swap station but it's gonna cost alot right?

It would not surprise me gen 3 is cheaper than gen 2 and gen 4 is about on par with gen 3. Don't forget that they also improve on maintenance of the stations itself, so I don't think they would go for gen 2 anymore since gen 3 or gen 4 probably requires less maintenance. Plus it fits more batteries which will also benefit NIO in the long run.

Let me understand this. You buy a new car with new batteries and it runs out of charge. You now take it to a change station to swap out your depleted brand new battery pack that is the highest cost part of your car just purchased. After you find a specific station close to where you can reach within range of the energy in the depleted new battery you ask to exchange this brand new pack for a battery pack of unknown origin and age to be placed in your new vehicle in exchange for your now discharged new battery pack. As this is the life blood of your car worth more than the vehicle it sounds a bit suspect. Would you really give up a brand new battery pack for what you don’t know? Just how many times has the battery just installed been depleted and recycled? Is the range guaranteed? Sorry not going to get savvy customers to fall for that. This battery pack is the most expensive part of a battery powered car and you will be willing give it up for what you don’t have any idea of mmm….

@@Eric_Garrison So what do I not understand? Aren’t the steps I outlined correct? “You don’t understand it” is this your in depth detailed analysis can’t you elaborate or be specific or you either don’t want to or don’t wish to acknowledge its correct?
@Eric_Garrison
@Eric_Garrison Ай бұрын
You just assumed a bunch of things and played it off as trying to understand. It’s not my job to teach you how battery swapping works, but I do have plenty of content to watch if you are genuinely interested. Anyway yes people happily give up their brand new battery pack. They don’t own the battery pack in most cases. The battery health is guaranteed yes. No you don’t need to wait til your pack is depleted to swap it. Most people live within 3 km of a station so it’s just like going to get gas. Anything else?
@TheTruth-dy8ze
@TheTruth-dy8ze Ай бұрын
@@Eric_Garrison Actually, so you are telling me you don’t own the battery now. So is it rented? On what basis is it rented? By the capacity that it had when installed and is credit given for what was not used upon replacement? So what’s the answers to these areas of concern? You say it’s all in your video but it looks more like a car advertisement for battery swapping than genuine information on the costs and thus benefits of this type system over conventional fixed batteries. Nowhere is cost analysis shown.
@Eric_Garrison
@Eric_Garrison Ай бұрын
I said I have other videos if you want to learn more. You can rent or buy your battery. In China, either method allows for swapping. In Europe only battery rental can swap. When you swap you pay the difference in energy. It isn’t a fixed amount, it’s based on your consumption. If you want a larger capacity battery or smaller battery you can upgrade or downgrade at will. Road trip? Take a 150kwh pack for a few days, only city driving? Keep your 75kwh pack. It’s called flexibility and convenience. And if your battery pack gets damaged you aren’t out 30k usd or whatever to change your battery. There are many advantages to it, as evidenced by how many swaps are happening in China every day. Anything else?
