Captain Scarlet is my favourite, as I loved how realistic the dolls looked. I also liked how threatening the Mysterons were.

This is amazing to find. My mother Sheena made many of the puppets for this series and I grew up with little wood and fibreglass Captain Scarlet parts around the house. My dad John was the puppeteer for Captain Green, too! Thanks.

Firestorm wow, This is so cool can wait to a able to see this. I’ve watched Gerry Anderson shows since I was little. The first show I remember was Fireball XL5. My parents got my the ship along with Barbies and model horses. My parent must have been pretty advanced to let their little girl play with to rockets. But with the 1st Gemini flight happening 2 years earlier, Maybe that’s not such a far stretch. I wish I’d had kept the ship though cause it would be hanging from the ceiling in my apartment. Not bad for 60 year old lady

Who's here from the Clone Wars? The Clone Wars' animation style's inspired by this! Filoni said he wanted to make the animation stand out from every other 3D animated movie and show at the time, so he decided to make the artstyle and animation based off Supermarionation! He created one of the BEST artstyles I've ever seen from ANY 3D animated show and movie.

Most television viewers see Gerry Anderson as the Thunderbirds creator. Many of his fans see him as a master animator. He inspired Nick Park with his creations to make stop motion fun again.

You can see the Thunderbirds references in Wallace and Gromit, just by the way Wallace is transported from his bedroom to his vehicle. A clear tip of the hat to an iconic show.

Why has there been no News since the pilot? Even without the current problems it has been years! Many are now thinking the whole idea has been abandoned. I certainly hope not. Just to know something is actually happening would be better than nothing at all.

I hadn’t realised the mouth control technique was just a dude using a switch, I’d always assumed it was a direct reaction to the voice, like the lights on the new Daleks, so in a way even that was just another form of puppetry, then, interesting.
@FirestormHQ6 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the lipsync was automated, and sometimes it was manual. The automatic system was somewhat unreliable in the Supermarionation days!
@fastertrackcreative5 жыл бұрын
I think the Dalek head-lights are also by remote as voice activation can be hit and miss. Not 100% sure though.

I wonder why the production crew have made the puppet's heads out of proportion again.
@FirestormHQ6 жыл бұрын
It's a stylistic choice. We feel that puppets are puppets. If you try to make them human, just do live action. Captain Scarlet, for example, suffered from the fact that human proportion puppets are very difficult to move and perform as their caricatured movements are at odds with their 'realisitc' proportions.
