Road Taken is the skirmish battle theme that plays for the Nintendo 3DS game, Fire Emblem Fates, developed by Intelligent Systems and was released in June 2015 (BR/CQ) and July 2015 (RV) in Japan, and 2016 for the international releases. This track has two versions, basing from the previous game, Fire Emblem Awakening, where they have a Calm and an Ablaze versions from their skirmish battle themes, Road Taken has a Calm and a Roar version that plays.
A year later, at the latter portion of 2016 was the release of Horse and Rider As One, a CD album composed by the duo named Cavalry Duo, which was released after the celebration of the Cipher Caravan from the same year.
With two announced Fire Emblem games in 2017, a main series remake and a spinoff, Fire Emblem: Warriors was released by Koei Tecmo and Intelligent Systems for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS. Very similar to Fates, a Calm and a Roar version of Road Taken is played through the levels of the game.
And last but not certainly the least, Fire Emblem Music Collection: Flower of Enchantment was released in 2018 featuring fifteen (15) different tracks from the FE series.
And there we have it! The Evolution of Road Taken. For a good five years, this track received really good remixes. One thing comes to mind, why isn't this in Smash already? It's such a popular track that it kind of feels like a disservice to Fates for this to be not included in the game.
Speaking of Smash, if you read this in the description while listening, I did a little joke in the transition of the Warriors to Flower of Enchantment portion. It's a meme, it's a pretty bad one as well. If you already saw it and decided to read this, sorry about that lol.

While I fricking love Road Taken (second favourite map theme not counting bosses), I wanna pour some salt over Smash's music options from Fates. Honestly, when Ultimate came out, I was pretty indifferent to the butchering of Fates musical representation, as I had yet to play Fates nor Warriors, with Heroes and Smash being my only exposures to its OST. But after playing those games, while let's be real, Lost in Thoughts is too overhated, but I don't blame haters because despite being an amazing song, playing it again and again just makes the song lose its charm and eventually be background noise, but you wanna know what wasn't background noise? Road, flipping, Taken. And not just that, A Dark Fall, Alight, Justice RIP, Thorn in You, all these songs are amazing gems, songs that perfectly fit the fast pace of a battlefield in Smash, and what did we get? Lost in Thoughts All Alone, four of them I mind you, FOUR. We could have had one of these other songs, BUT NOOOOOO, Smash Devs want four variations of Lost in flipping Thoughts All fricking Alone. And mind you, Lost in Thoughts is a SLOW song, but has a fast paced Nohrian variation, and guess what? THAT ISN'T EVEN ONE OF THEM! Okay, rant over, but seriously, this has to be Nintendo's most twisted joke to the FE community (well Fates fans are a minority I guess).

AGREE!! I was so salty about the music selection in Smash, it could've been easily so much better. Hell even 3H music selection in Smash wasn't that good, leaving amazing tracks like the final boss fights in SS & GD!! Unforgivable lol

I completely agree, Fates really got the Final Fantasy treatment with music. Imagine how much cooler it would have been if we got Castle Shirasagi and Castle Krakenburg as stages and were given tracks like Road Taken, Alight, Justice RIP, A Dark Fall, No Justice, Desire Below, and Contest of Pride as tracks. Corrin would have so much better received.
