It's kinda wrong for Sonic CD. The original CD spindash only works by holding the jump button while crouching, and Sonic looks like his jump animation while revving up his spindash. The one you illustrated comes from Christian Whitehead's 2011 Sonic CD remake, where he included both the CD spindash and the Sonic 2 style spindash (which is shown in the video). Sonic 2's spindash is the default option, which you can toggle for CD spindash in the options (just like switching between JP/EU and US soundtracks).

I don't know if it's done on purpose, but it's interesting how some of the clips are stages that you can hear the soundtrack in sonic generations. For example, Toxic Cave in Sonic Spinball or Splash Hill in Sonic 4

Generations spindash is only really op when jumping after releasing it. The Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric spindash is one my favorite versions of Sonic's spin dash. I love how it builds up power to longer you hold it. The sounds also get faster and the spindash shape changes, so I also find that very cool.
