Historically, scoped single shot rifles and pump action shotguns were, while not common, present in the wild west, so the 133 Cowboy is in fact a member of the cowboy genus and the MP18 Cowboy can, in some cases, evolve into the MP18 with a 4x pilad scope. They don't evolve advanced optics of course, but a simple two line crosshair is known as a rare mutation.

@@AspiLeo No, the Mosin Nagant wasn't introduced into American civilian markets until the Bannerman .30-06 conversions and the American Government milsurp bailouts of Remington, Winchester and Westinghouse in the aftermath of the Russian revolution preventing fulfilment of payments for American Mosin production for Russia in WW1 and immediately after. The Old West was over in 1912. In terms of bolt action rifles in the Old West, it was mostly the Krag-Jorgenson, the M1891 Carcano and the 1886 Vetterli rifles that popped up towards the latter years. But they were all considered inferior to the Winchester and Marlin lever actions that dominated the American repeating rifle market for the purposes of the needs of frontiersmen.

Not just Mosin Nagants, but also a lot of Gasser revolvers. Not to mention some of the french stuff. Lebel, Krapotschek, Gras… you name it. These of course were not in large quantities and could’ve only been very few in comparison of what people call „present in that country at that point in time“ but they were there.

This sounds like a surprisingly potent "adaptation" because the self-imposed cultural rules, equipment restrictions, and underdog syndrome of cowboyhood would (at least on paper) all help subvert some of risks and drawbacks of pack hunting (greed, betrayal, etc). Its one thing to get a group to spam cheap weapons (so they don't see each other as targets) but the meme'ry of the yeeha would in theory encourage the specimens to stick with it instead of breaking down and fighting over superior chad loot. I firmly believe there should be a counter to accidental team killing. There are two counters I could see working. A. Either have a mechanic which makes your PMC keep his gun's sight off any friendlies automatically, as people usually don't like to point guns at their friends. So, say if someone were to aim at their friend's head, it would act as if there was a barrier and the gun would move to the right or left of their friend's head. Or B. Add complete character customization, where you can choose each individual clothing piece like insurgency sandstorm, and let people dress up as cowboys. I am sure that I will not ever shoot at a cowboy.

lol my first day (before i realized 95% of the game is googling things and playing tetris) i spent like 15 or so raids with a pistol and shotguns just farming factory.. while i wasted all the gear and stuff i got (which i now realize was some pretty expensive stuff to lost to a makarov) it was the most fun i've had playing the game... and always make sure to head back to factory with the 2 mt-255s and blast away... always cheers me up.

I need to make a correction from the newest tier list where I made an assumption about the MP-18 since it's on the shotgun lsit by the devs. I had said the MP-18 single shot rifle was likely the same as the .366 AK, where it may be the very end of the barrel that's rifled so that's why it would be categorized as a shotgun because Russian laws DEFINITELY make sense. Baikal is the most prolific company that makes those rifles and they sell them both as shotguns and as rifles. What seems to be the most common from the limited research I've done, is the .410 shotgun varients which rifle conversion kits are sold for to get around convoluted and un-freedom loving laws. It's possible that the devs at BSG have only seem them as shotgun conversions as they are located in a big city where the laws are even less friendly, or they are implying that all of the MP-18s in the Tarkov region are all converted shotguns. Either seems equally likely as, outside of Russian sites, it seems to be a toss up if you'll see it for sale as a rifle or as a shotgun.

So I watched it at .25x speed, and it's still a little fuzzy what happened. The guy's head jerked back like it had been hit, but there was no blood splatter at all. I can't tell if the head jerk was from the shotgun blast or from the shotgun model and character model colliding. Either way, with no blood splatter Tarkov seems to have decided the shot was a miss, which explains not dying.
