She definitely has a lovely personality and she’s quite slender and tall which is a plus. However truth be told she’s not very pretty at all. I sincerely think if she works with a makeup con tourist focusing on contouring her nose a bit that would make a lot of difference for her!

I'm a fashion editorial photographer and the trouble that I see with this industry is that at first you believe that you are surrounded by people who appreciate the beauty and the art of fashion in it's entirety but, you then realize that you are surrounded by people who just seek fame for fames sake. Agencies who rip off their clients and run away with the cash. Designers who are just horrible at designing clothes but believe they are God's gift to the industry. Models who don't even know how to walk in heels and can't take any kind of direction on set. It's like the magician's apprentice, once he sees how the tricks are done, it loses all it's initial allure.

They don't care about your personality in New York. They fall in love with the girl that will do well. I remember a well known black model that started in 2006 and she was so full of herself before she even made it big and the bookers used to laugh at everything she said and she wasn't funny, if it had been anyone else they would have given them a bye-girl-eyeroll.

I've worked with models. Most auditions/castings won't hire you unless your with an agency. Plus agencies only take a small commission of what you earn. So agencies do their best to get you into as many high paying jobs as possible. Genuine agencies don't charge other fees. A genuine agency may charge a person for professional head shots, and body shots to put in a port folio. Genuine agencies do offer classes in basic etiquette, advice on what to wear at castings, makeup, how to pose, etc. The girl with the blue eyes is missing out on so much.
@DianaMuturia
@DianaMuturia 6 жыл бұрын
I agree. It's not necessarily her looks or genes, it's what the agency teaches you in order to have a better chance to succeed. My walk, what I wear for auditions, how to present myself, what questions to ask, even my skin's health is better because of the classes I take at my agency. Do I feel like what they charge is expensive? yes. But what I have learned so far have made me a more on-demand model who can network and maintain connections for repeat castings. I have to work hard on my part but an agency has given me a good sense of what to work hard on and work hard towards.

From everything ive read being obsessed with modeling since i was a kid, the top modeling agencies are essentially looking for white girls dipped in chocolate...which really sucks !! The Black girls face is kinda full, not angular enough even though she's got a fairly thin frame. Her nose is broad and more so when she smiles ... Unremarkable set eyes & chin, etc. Everything you see in the chocolate dipped Jessica white, Tyra banks, Iman, etc or the stunning deep chocolate dolls like Alek Wek? She is missing that IT factor. Telling her it's bc she's tall??? she can't really believe that...can she? Shes not high fashion model pretty. She's catalogue cute. Round the way girl cute. local events cute. She's got a great personality..that counts but not enough to get her on VS, Milan, NYFW designer runways Too tall ?? Really ?

People need to stop bringing up Karlie Kloss and Kate Moss when talking about modelling heights. I have been following the industry for quite some time and have friends who work in the industry. I have had conversations with respect people in the industry such as hair stylist Garren . Kate and Karlie are exceptions. There aren't many models as short or tall as them but they were able to make lasting impressions on the designers due to their personality and talent, Karlie specifically because of how she handled long gowns (i.e hear her talk about her first Valentino casting). Which is why she did many couture shows early on in her career, similar to Shalom Harlow in the 90s. The average height of a model in the 90s was 5'9. The average height has since increased to 5'11. Karlie is 6'1 but it's rare

I think what people need to realize is that the top supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, etc. didn't have to go to modeling school. They didn't have to be trained on how to be a model. They were discovered on the street or at school and within a matter of a few months were being flown to Paris or Milan to work with Vogue or Elle. So, if you are an aspiring model and if it hasn't happened after a few months, it's probably never going to happen.

Golden B usually your agency sends you. When you enter to a casting you hand the casting director your compo (which is like a presentation card, with some pictures and your measurements) and your compo has your agency logo. They also ask for your agency when you register for the casting (usually at the door). If the ppl from the casting wants you for the job, they’ll call your agency. If you are in a reputable, known agency you may have more chances to be booked. If you just arrive to the casting without an agency is seems kinda unprofessional, specially if you aren’t known in the industry. Plus castings director usually ask agencies for a models with a certain look, so the agency will only send the girls they think have the right look. If you don’t have an agency you may not be what they are looking for. Now I think that if it is a high end brand and you don’t have an agency they won’t even let you go in a casting

so one of the girls said some agencies complained that she was too tall!!! wtf!??? ummmm they're called models for a reason..the minimum height I see for the most popular models in high fashion is 5"9 and above....It's also sad that many people are saying they aren't pretty enough on these comments...there's plenty of high fashion models that are very unattractive smh....this society often let's people judge the way they're supposed to act and look...sad as hell be you and be proud of that!..most of the agencies are run by normal "average" looking people or "talent scouts" smh....and they judge beauty lmfao.....pathetic

The tall girl is probably taller than 6'2''.. at that point, the clothes don't fit right anymore. There is a thing as "too tall" in the industry.

The height thing is not well pointed. The minimum height in order to become a model, mmm ... there isn't. But (usually) to be a top model, the minimum is 5''7, (usually). Kate Moss is barely 5''5 and she is a Super. And there are many other people who have made it with a "short" height. Sometimes the agencies do not look well to a girl who is extremely tall or her shapes do not fit with the clothes. There is not a "standard" to be a model. They come in various shapes and complexions. The weirdest and more good looking you are, the better you do. The top model has to have 3 main things: the chameleonic shape, the looks and they have to give perspective. Attitude + some form of beauty is all.

Wow! Aysha Mirza looked to be suffering while doing the lingerie photoshoot in the street. And many models have tried to get independent but it's not gonna happen without an agency! She is very mistaken in thinking that she can manage without an agency. It's OK if you are a student trying it out, at an amateur level, or just doing local jobs until you are old enough to leave your nest if your parents disapprove. But at a professional level you need an agency. What happens if a photoshoot takes you to Australia for a beach summer season? Are you going to have time to handle the visa, book a hotel for yourself...? Agencies abuse and exploit models, I can agree with that, but are a necessity. And the well-known agencies won't book anybody without an agency.

I'm checking out on the net Tabran Howard's agency, Heartland. It looks scammy! The type of agency that would approach girls on the street telling them they could be models but that they need to pay for test photos and such. I think that now Tabran is with another agency, Base Model Agency, and that she is doing well considering. Her photos in a Maggie Norris dress are killing! That's one thing serious model agencies they will never do - they support models until they find work (although they will withdraw their financial support if a young model is not getting some work)

Does anybody besides really young naive girls think modelling is a dream job? You're starving yourself to death to be abnormally thin, you're constantly harshly judged and treated like a piece fo meat, 99,9% get paid barely enough to make ends meet and at 24/25 you're kicked to the curb.

I know this is going to sound horribly superficial and mean but the reality is, the fashion industry IS superficial and mean. The girl with the green contact lenses just doesn't have what it takes. Despite the success of 'models' like Bella Hadid who has plastic-surgeried her way to a career, the reality is for non celebrities, you either have the natural beauty and proportions or you do not. This woman does not, she is faking it and no agency is interested in beauty that has to be faked. They take their pictures without hair and makeup, no colored contact lenses, in the simplest of clothes, so the model has nowhere to hide. She has neither the facial proportions, nor the physique, nor the youth to be a top model. She is attractive lady, but she is not model material. Her friend really should be brutally honest with her and advise her to pursue catalogue work, for example, if she just can't give up the dream. She will never be booked for a big designer's catwalk, to make her think otherwise is cruel.

+ting280 MMM not really, you can't put a mannequin in a Gucci ad and it will sell the clothes. Mannequins don't bring life to clothes like models do. What if the Victoria's Secret show were all mannequins? You think the brand would be as big as it is? Models become the face of a brand which helps sales. Mannequins can't do that.

***** Yes, that's true but that's part of the job. I'm an actor and we get treated like shit too but at least we have the union to help us out. They work models to death sometimes without good pay. That can't happen on a SAG set. If we go over 12 hrs for the day, they have to pay us more money.

I think part of the problem is that these girls DON'T KNOW THE INDUSTRY. The first problem is that America and it's numerous fashion brands are NOTORIOUS for not really wanting darker skin (ethnic girls) modeling for them. So WHY are they trying to make it in NYC where it is saturated with the type of girls they would usually use by default? Diversity has gotten better over the years but it is STILL disportionate to who is usually selected. One if the girls mentioned imagining being in Europe. She should START in Europe. She should go there where they are more receptive of her look. After she gets new photos,freelances with designers and brands, THEN come back to the States. And hit the ground running.

Don’t complain about your own choices. I think some models begin with low self esteem anyway and it only gets lower when you do things to your body seeking someone else’s approval. If you’re not mentally strong, physically healthy and happy with your own body image don’t even bother.

the issue with me lies within the fact that you can only improve so far with your physicality. it gets to a point where its unhealthy to try and conform to a stature that will never accommodate you. beauty is not earned, its not a muscle that grows stronger. it comes down to fitting the prototype with genetics you were born with. unfortunately, this girl(jersey) isn't putting all this effort into something more creative or artistic, clearly she is intelligent, but she should dig deeper within herself and find what her true passion is. cause modeling aint it

I think what not only these girls but all girls hoping to be models need to ask themselves is: what is it really that they hope to achieve? I mean, technically, these girls are models. They work. They model clothes wherever and for whomever needs them. They're just not famous, and they probably never will be. So, they really need to stop and ask themselves why am I in this business? Am I doing it because I love the work or am I doing it because I want to be famous?

The women in this video will be lucky to book the odd assignment. Just because you are tall and skinny doesn't make you model material. True, that you don't have to be beautiful to model. There are plenty examples of of models that are unattractive but that have some kind of physical trait that makes them unique and stand out. These women are not only average looking but generic, except for their tall, slender frames. I wish them luck but maybe they should be more realistic in pursuing another line of work.
