Who was the Pharaoh of the Exodus? There are various theories. However, by examining the evidence found in the Bible, it is surprisingly clear to establish just who the Exodus Pharaoh was.

It's incredible to think that when we see that mummy, we might actually be gazing at the same face that Moses saw, the same mouth that kept saying, "No," to Moses' demands to let his people go. Almost three and a half thousand years later!! Thank you for this.

But wasn’t the Pharaoh of Exodus drowned when crossing the Red Sea? Didn’t his widow left with no husband, son, even high Officials or an army send to the Hittani for a husband (as recorded in history), to get an heir.

That's the problem. To a believer, we believe the Bible true and accurate by faith, however many think the Word of God to be based on myths and far fetched legend, and even Jewish renditions thought to be copies of pagan stories. Compare Samson and Hercules or The Ten Commandments said to be copied from the stele of Hammurabi. Jesus said somewhere speaking to the ruling Temple Sanhedrin that if they could shut Jesus up the very stones would cry out. Pretty much every corner of the globe, except the remotest depths, the gospel has gone forth, yet evil men driven by Satan have tried their utmost to stop the gospel from being delivered. Now it's an all out effort to thwart the gospel with the internet highway of misinformation or by holding back or hiding comparative truth that would otherwise be historical evidence that the Bible is true and God's Word accurate. Many scholars are themselves unbelievers appointed by the devil to create doubt and hide critical facts not recorded in the Bible but written down in historical manuscripts hidden from the general public. Take for instance the very name of God, YHVH. For two thousand years nobody knew what the correct pronunciation was until probably the last five or six years when a Hebrew Bible scholar and Torah following Jew, Nehemiah Gordon, found Jewish gospel manuscripts dating back to the first century hidden in the trash piles and dust bins of the Roman Vatican and nobody else bothered them, yet the name of our Father in heaven was written all over them with the vowel points of pronunciation. Like a dead sea scroll discovery all over again, however the Christian community has been very very slow to catch on. I pray in God's name, Yahovah our Father in heaven, the Son Yashua and the Holy Spirit. It shouldn't matter all that much though, God did after all create the nations and their particular language at the Tower of Babel.

There's no Bible verse that tells you how many books are in it, not even in the Ethiopian compilations that have up to 86 books in them. So by definition, we can't "just follow the Bible" on everything because the Bible does not contain itself. It's important to remember that the Bible has multiple kinds of context, and to take it in the wrong context or out of context are both incorrect, and can easily lead people to error. I love the Biblical archaeology, it's very helpful at providing extra context and linking it to the Bible and the teachings of the Church.

I'm currently pursing an MA in Apologetics. The Christian university I attend however, seems to have an excess of scriptural critics. When I showed this video to our resident archaeology professor, he ultimately dismissed it as "smoke and mirrors," stating "It’s long been a point of contention that the God Yahweh is linked with the Shashu of various parts in the ANE." Note that he says its "a point of contention," yet doesn't really explain why that is so or how the name is "linked" to to other people. It makes me wonder why so many "Christian" academics seem so hesitant about standing up for the historical validity of the Bible. BTW...BEST video I've ever seen on this subject. Keep it up!

You might not be wrong there. If you think about it, Moses dealt with two pharaohs. The first one he had to run from, that would have been Thutmose III. Amenhotep then took over and Moses returned after 40 years. Interesting side note, Hatshapsut had significant power during Thutmose early years, and may have well been the “pharaohs daughter” who took in Moses. Edit: what I find really cool about this information is secular resources oblivious to the Bible set up these time lines and events, and then when I compare them to the Word it really fits. I know the Bible is true, hard to say who is who when names aren’t used. But this all makes a lot of sense. And again, you have secular historians confirming the truth of the Bible inadvertently.

None of the Bible authors claim to have been dictated to by God, so the Bible is the "word of men setting out their opinions as to the word of God." The Muslims believe the Koran is the word of God as they believe God dictated it to Mohammed. If you take the Bible as the "word of God," please explain, oh, let's see ... Gobekli Tepe? However, I respect that many Christians believe this to be true, so I'm not knocking the phrase in general, only for the purpose of using the Bible as portraying absolute historical fact in all instances and respects, essentially because "God says so.".

There was no Exodus. One million people cannot march out of a country and live 40 years in a desert without leaving the slightest trace in history or in archaeology. There was no drowning of Pharaoh's army, no movement of the Red Sea. Hebrews came and went from Egypt for many centuries, sometimes as traders, sometimes as mercenaries, sometimes as war captives. On this one thing I totally disagree with you. The Pharoh Tutmose the 3rd's skeleton is in the bottom of the gulf of aqaba. His head piece is visible on high quality photos. What you have is a body substitute that a later Pharaoh put in place to justify his right to assend to the throne!. We have a letter from the Hittite empire that the royal queen of Egypt sent saying my son and husband are dead please send one of your sons to be Pharoah. This letter proves what I am saying. The early versus late dating of the Exodus was a point of controversy during seminary. You would not believe how many people in my class were committed to the late date because of the city name - Ramses - and they continued defending it quite vociferously in spite of the evidence. It made for interesting discussions. That’s the problem with us. We’re fallen creatures. The knowledge we gain tends to puff us up and then we begin to believe that we know more than we actually do. One day all things will be understood and then we’ll see just how dumb we really were. This is why I just take the Bible for what it says and I tend not to allow man’s interpretation due to discoveries of a past he has no clue about lead me down a rabbit hole. I noticed on your video that the body of Amenhotep II looked like he had bumpy skin. I went to Wikipedia, and their description of the body says, "Unusually, the skin all over the body is covered with small tubercles though Smith could not say if they were the result of the embalming process or disease." This could be physical evidence of the 6th plague, the plague of boils found in Exodus chapter 8. "So they took soot from the furnace and stood before Pharaoh. Moses tossed it into the air, and festering boils broke out on man and beast. The magicians could not stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them and on all the Egyptians." In my experience, whenever the Bible says "all," it truly means all, so this would include the pharaoh himself. Wikipedia also recorded this: "Smith estimated he was forty to fifty at death based on his worn teeth and greying hair." This age is consistent with the available data - history says he ascended to the throne at age 18 and reigned for 26 years, so he would have been approximately 44 years old when he drowned in the Red Sea. Thanks for the videos - they are very stimulating and our helping my wife and me in our personal studies of the Bible. Interesting. I love this content. Years ago I read a book about the mysteries of the Bible. One thing that stuck with me was the discussion of language and translations. In many ancient languages including Hebrew, numbers often meant many things. Sometimes literal counts but often they symbolized other things . 7 - perfection, 40 - a period of trial. Nearly all numbers had multiple meanings and were not always literal. When I read the Bible I try to consider that. Israel spent a long period being tested and tried in the wilderness. Maybe 40 years, maybe longer, maybe less.
@sidmeyer2011
@sidmeyer2011 Жыл бұрын
In history the numbers are meant to be exact numbers, in prophecy them numbers have a meaning other than a numerical value. It is important to view the numbers in context. 12 apostles meant 12 , the number, as also the 12 tribes of Israel. In apocalyptic writings 12 represents the people of God. It may seem confusing but if you read in context of what is being discussed it is actually quite clear.

That film is a joke and heresy. The holy Bible's stories should never be depicted on screen - that is heresy. All true historical figures shouldn't be depicted on screen, in my opinion - it is so uncinematic AND not believable no matter how "good" it is done

The city of Rameses was also given to Jacob and his sons 188 years before the Exodus as well. Genesis 47:11 "And Joseph situated his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded."

@@siegfriedlechler7412 I would argue that the Hyksos were more likely Edomites. It would explain why they were so friendly to the Israelites and "knew Joseph." They were very closely related through Isaac.

Taking the early date of 1446BC, push back the date by 400 years, we can start searching for the pharaoh of Joseph among these from the 12th dynasty (e.g. Senusret III ruled from 1878 BC to 1839 BC)

@@LeeJeng09 Thank you!😊 I was thinking that it would also be nice to see archeological evidence of the great famine, of the large store houses built for the grain 🌾🌽, records of the consolidation of all of the land under pharaoh, any possible documentation of the 7 year famine, or of any mention of a ruler Zaph'-nath-pa-a-ne'-ah (Joseph) etc. I believe in the Bible already, but it is so amazing seeing evidence of everything that is written! I would like to Say "Djoser" because of the Famine Stela. But he better fits in with Abraham, especially if you entertain the idea that Pepi II (Melol) was Pharoah who enslaved the Israelites, as stated in "Jasher. Then again, I'm at the belief that everything is far older then we're lead to believe

This is what the children should be taught. As a child, I always thought that the pharoah who dealt with Moses was swept away when the sea came crashing down on the Egyptians and the pharoah couldn’t be found and couldn’t be buried like the previous kings of Egypt. I am bewildered and shocked and you have answered many many questions I had as a child and I’m 71! Excellent research! Job well done!

Don't just stop with this guess of the pharaoh. The Exodus likely happened in 1602BC per the Setterfield chronology at the Ldolphin website. This would be necessary for Israel to have left the wilderness and been at the fall of the walls of Jericho in around 1580BC.

The Bible is clear that Pharaoh and his chariots and horsemen went down into the sea and the LORD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. Question: how is it that the body of Amenhotep is mummified? I seriously doubt that his body was recovered from the Red Sea. All of his horsemen and Pharaoh perished in the Red Sea. Although, Israel recovered the brass, armor, swords, etc. from the bodies of at least some of the army. That was also a miracle because the weight would have caused them to sink (as also recorded; Exodus 15, they sank as a stone). So, it's possible that the LORD separated these items from them and floated them to the shore where Israel collected them. Thanks for the well done video, I totally agree with the early Exodus date and Pharaoh.

The Quran verse about the Pharaoh's body is Surah Yunus, verse 92, which states: "Today We will preserve your corpse so that you may become an example for those who come after you. And surely most people are heedless of Our examples!". The verse explains that God preserved the Pharaoh's body as a lesson for future generations. The place where the Pharaoh's body was found is known as the mount of Pharaoh. The discovery of the Pharaoh's mummy in the 19th century provided concrete proof of the Quran's prediction that the Pharaoh's body would be preserved.

That was good. I remember Francois DePlusseir (sp?) on Amazing Discoveries and also on Clash of Minds, was describing the same thing. And a few things I remember about how the tomb of that pharoah was quickly prepared, and the body of the mummy which should have been that of an old man was dated and found to be that of a 30 year old. Wherein it appeared that the son which died from the plague was actually the one in the tomb. He also brought out that story about the brother at the sphinx. The deeper they dive the more facts correlate with the biblical narrative.
