@@drewc771 Devalues regular season is the most significant effect. Miami lost to Georgia Tech and nobody cared because they knew they had 1 maybe 2 more mulligans. Ohio State Michigan had no impact outside of the two fanbases bragging rights. Upsets and big time matchups used to be seismic and dramatic now its like eh they lost but they're still firmly in.

@@RB-.- These are both valid responses to what I asked, and it's true, it does devalue the results of games for teams at the very top. But at the same time, college football is so much about rivalry and pride, that these games still have a lot of meaning, regardless. Even though that Ohio St loss didn't technically mean much, it sure meant a lot to Ohio St fans, and I'm sure Michigan, too. Also, while these games at the top may be devalued in a sense, there are other games lower down that now have much greater value because of the playoff. Basically, I agree with your point, but I think there's also a trade-off. And considering there's really no chance of going backwards, I'd rather just enjoy whatever it is we have. It never has been perfect and never will. In the old days, every reg season game meant everything to the top teams, but there was clear flaws in that system, too.

Tennessee Ohio State was the real blowout while Clemson could have won their game with Texas. It was a good game to watch except for the boring run game of Texas. Finally the Tennessee game put to rest the SEC was so much better than everyone else when they got stomped by a 2 loss Ohio State team. Georgia who could win it all lost two games and took 8 overtime’s to beat a mediocre Ga. Tech. team. So to pretend this was all predictable is a joke. The rankings are a joke. People dislike what you guys say then it happens and they say we need to fix this when you guys always wither want to avoid the problem or already have the fix. The whole system should have always been based off pure rankings with auto bids not garenteed byes. People though said it wouldn't be a problem it clearly is now. When this sport eventually goes to a 24 team playoff and the super confrances form and it losses its year long intreast from many fans. People will look back on these 2 men as prophets. Either 1 the teams they chose were the wrong teams, Tennessee, SMU and Indiana, OR we didn't need to expand the playoff beyond 8 teams. I'm fine with 12 teams but they need to be the best teams. Alabama would dog walk smu, Indiana and probably notre dame. The committee clearly got it wrong.

Alabama got dog walked by a 5 win at the time OU and got beat by the bottom feeder of the league historically in Vanderbilt. Alabama didn't deserve anything but to sit on the outside looking in. Don't lose multiple games against absolutely weak opponents next year, Alabama doesn't deserve a damn thing.

I think it's a given that we didn't "need" to expand the playoff beyond 8, probably even 4. It's just about more games, more $$. But I agree, if you are going to have 12, you might as well pick the best ones.

@@Goeers206 Forget who "deserves" what. Nobody in the bottom half of the bracket really deserves anything, so that can be said about any team picked.. @drewc771 Again, the teams you all say don't deserve to be there, played better against CFP caliber teams than Alabama did against mediocre competition. @drewc771Күн бұрын
@@Goeers206 Some people can have bias on all sides, but a lot of what people call "SEC bias" is just reality, frankly. The league has won 13 of the last 20 national titles, went 14 and 4 against other conferences in the 4 team CFP, wins bowl games at a much higher clip than other conferences, and sends more people to the NFL than other conferences. These are all simple facts. To think the result of one game undoes all of that is not reasonable, imho.
