Finding Julie…absolutely heartbreaking! This was such a gut punch. But it was awesome to finally see Holden and Miller meet. “James Holden…shit just follow you around, don’t it?” 😂

I love the way our crew handle the stealth ship - they do everything right, go in teams, stay in contact, send drones ahead and when they encounter something strange/dangerous, they bug out and nuke it from orbit :) No dumb ass plot forcing grandstanding. nb. You're ahead of this on patreon, so I'm sure you're used to it already, but the answers just generating more questions is a real Expanse theme :)

one of the best things about this show is the writers can create and build drama without the characters doing dumb/annoying stuff.

1x8 is probably one of my favorite episode of s1 mystery starts to unravel, Miller meets the crew, and they find Julie, Tarantino-esque shoot out in the lobby

This is a lore dense series. It drops you in the action without preamble. Yet before you know it - you've learned so much. Its a method that I really enjoy - well implemented.

this is the episode where the authors of the books have a cameo! they get off the ship Miller travels to Eros on just before he does.

Of all the many treasures this show offers over the seasons, I believe you've found one of the first delightful ones - it stealthfully draws you into really liking pretty much all of the cast.

Well, Fred Johnson said it: Lionel Polanski is a code name. As we now know, a code name that Julie used for the OPA to find her after the mission failed.

Fun fact - there was The Expanse Online Auction and Julie's protomolecule body was one of the items (so creepy!). There was so many cool items on the auction too. Chris Danelon - a guy who worked on The Expanse has a youtube channel and it's a treat for every The Expanse fan (highly reccomend the channel) - he made a few videos about the auction (and other cool stuff).

Such a great episode to really start to tie things together. Keeps rocking and a rolling! Poor Julie. But our two storylines converge! Fred Johnson said that "Lionel Polanski" was a code name. It was the way Julie could get in touch with the OPA or Fred. I don't think Fred was working with Julie at the time because she was working with Anderson Dawes.

Haha ... things are accelerating. Just you wait, things are about to get just a little quicker paced. Just, watch out for those Doors and Corners. Oh yes ... the 'Bio' weapon. Put a pin in that. And pucker up cupcake. Haha, warming up to the more antagonistic Amos. Oh friend, more than you know.

It's incredible how DEVASTATING it is to find Julie like this, when we never even really MET her! We spend less than 5 minutes with her in episode one and after that it is all through others we learn of who she is, and we grow so attached to her that it's a punch to the gut to find out she didn't make it.

Miller's story is a noir detective tale, and in such stories the "good guys" aren't all that good; the bad guys are *really bad* ; and everybody gets exactly what they deserve -- except the innocent, who suffer. Which one Julie was remains to be seen, but her death definitely fits the genre.

Fun fact: the actor who plays Kenzo, the spy(the actor's name is Elias Toufexis) was the other main actor in the running to play Amos. Wes Chatham obviously won the role, but the show's producers liked Elias so much that they wanted to include him somehow. So they created the role of Kenzo for him.

Unfortunate that you missed the part a couple episodes ago where Fred explicitly said that Lionel Polanski was just a codename, I don't think it's supposed to be that much of a mystery haha.
