Astronomy terminology! An asteroid is a rock floating in space. A meteor is a the visible trail of a rock falling into the atmosphere. When you see a shooting star, that's a meteor. A meteorite is a rock that has hit the surface of a larger body and stayed somewhat intact.

@@immortaljanus Meteors could be any type of rock. They've found chunks of nickel-iron meteorite that made it all the way through the atmosphere and hit the ground. Anything smaller than a dwarf planet (such as Ceres) orbiting the sun falls into one of three categories -- comets, asteroids (big rocks) or meteoroids (small rocks, less than one meter across). Comets are mostly different types of ice, all frozen together, with chunks of rock in them. Basically, they're dirty balls of frozen slush that start to melt and evaporate when they get close enough to the sun. Asteroids and meteoroids fall into one of two general categories, but there are lots of subtypes depending on exact composition. C-Type Asteroids are carbonaceous rocks, very dark, with lots of carbon and embedded harder rocks and minerals. These have the most frozen water and volatile chemicals. M-Type Asteroids are metallic rocks, and much more shiny than the other type, and thus easier to spot. Most are some combination of nickel and iron, mixed with other rocks and sometimes really valuable minerals. Large enough asteroids of either type would to terrible damage but, mass for mass, the metallic ones would do more because they'd probably make it all the way to the ground. In addition to all the massive overpressure shockwaves and heat, they would throw huge amounts of water vapor (if it landed in the ocean) or blasted particles of atomized dust (if it hit land) into the atmosphere. Carbonaceous asteroids would most likely explode in the atmosphere and create hugely destructive fireballs. They would still kick up dust and/or water vapor, but not as much -- but if it's big enough, that wouldn't matter, anyway.

I noticed that Naomi and Holden haven't shared many scenes together since Season three. She worked on the Behemoth without him. She got sick on the colony in season four. Now, she's running off to find her son.

But destiny found him, put him in a position where he had information he felt he had to use to benefit the whole system. And ever since then his own hero complex and just bad luck have conspired to put him in the same position over and over again. As hard as he tries, he can't not be a paladin.

Funfact: Amos' fight scene was actually shot in full fight. But it was edited on the last-minute by the showrunner (Naren Shankar) to be that way. Showing the most brutal parts of the fight, while cutting back and forth into Amos doing some "contemplating".

The show will be "on pause" after season six. There is good reason for this, though I don't know if it would be considered a book spoiler to say. So instead I'll just say that it should feel like a good stopping point, and it will give them a good chance to keep the book series ahead of the show. They are far ahead still, but I think they like having major arcs of the story done before committing any of it towards tv. I haven't read all of the books yet, but will likely do so now that I know where they're currently stopping for tv. Either way, I already can't wait for seasons 7-12! Or seasons 1-6 of The Expanse: The Next Generations/Deep Space 9001/Voyagers/Stargate SG-Don't Judge Me/Something Equally Ridiculous? Yep, I'm expecting spin-offs! And movies!

Interesting point (non spoiler) The guy on Tycho that you didn't like that was arguing about the Rocci repairs is called Bull. In the books he is a main character around the time of the ring space/slow zone in S3, and he pretty much takes on Drummers role of fighting against Ashford to stop him firing the lazer. Book Drummer is on tycho still at this point and still Loyal to Fred. IMO the show has done a great job adding depth and switching the non rocci characters, and in most cases I actually prefer the show versions. Sorry for the ramble, my brain is on overload with this stuff right now🤣

Asteroids and Meteors are the same thing. It's an asteroid when it's in space, and a meteor when it enters atmo. It's a common misconception that they are solid. That is rarely if ever the case. The most accurate way to describe an asteroid is a pile of gravel held together by it's own limited gravitational force. As they traverse their orbit around the sun, their shape will change based on the shifting gravitational forces exerted on it.

To me holden is like commander shepard in mass effect and jon snow without the "i don't want this". You don't have him uncover a galaxy wide threat and expect him to sideline himself. He and his team will spearhead this and fight it if need be. He knows humanity tend to want to quickly feel safe or go back to normalcy by fighting familiar enemies. That they make themselves ignorant to the true danger.

This might be overlooked in the comments, but based on what we saw, and what the scene seems to be adapted from in the book, the UN science ship wasn't hit by asteroid debris, they even said they were clear of it earlier. It was something else. Not a horrifying new protomolecule weapon or anything. Book readers will know what it is exactly, but the specifics aren't important. Just something I missed on my first viewing, and think is cool!
