Ошибка в том, что так прыгать, тем более с носа нельзя. Сходить нужно аккуратно, держась за стоячий такелаж. Если это не представляется возможным, тогда кинуть веревку человеку, который стоит на причале.

I don't know ... people should try entering a slip sometime under sail alone with no motor. Yeah the guy fell in the water, but being blown onto a dock is high stress. It was very close to being what it should be. No crunching fiberglass or impact. Fenders deployed properly. As for the guy who fell in, he was lucky he wasn't hurt, but these things happen. I give full credit to the skipper. Well done.
@ShroomKeppie7 жыл бұрын
Look at the flags; they were docking into the wind, the most perfect scenario possible. If you regularly sail a boat with no motor, then that maneuver should not be much of a challenge. The entire fail was caused by the guy with the bow line not being in the correct position to step off the boat and onto the dock.
@garysouza22777 жыл бұрын
You are 100% correct. Why stand on the bow, when midship -the widest part of the boat- is going to be the closest to the dock when you come in? Hang onto a shroud, step off. Pretty simple. I did get a good laugh at everybody falling all over the place, though. Sorry

Also notice how the guy who fell in the water instinctively moves towards the bow. These were not inexperienced people. They knew what they were doing.
@ShroomKeppie7 жыл бұрын
Instinctively moved toward the bow -- where he'd have been crushed by the boat if it hadn't been stopped. He'd have been better to stay just aft of the bow, where the curvature of the boat would save him from being crushed between hull and dock, and also not have allowed him to be skewered by the bow.

For sailors and for sailing courses the interesting question would be: what went wrong at what moment and how could you have solved the problem - then this would make a valuable teaching video.

Approach too fast to safely dock, or step off the boat. Slow is pro, as they say.
@MinSredMash7 жыл бұрын
It wasn't too fast, the guy just jumped too soon. The approach was fine for a boat with no motor or oars. Too slow and they would have gotten stuck.
@ShroomKeppie7 жыл бұрын
Approach was faster than I would have liked -- always approach the dock at the speed at which you'd like to hit it -- but not so fast as to be a real problem on a dock that long. The real problem is that the guy handling the bow line was standing in the pulpit and tried to jump out of it onto the dock. He should have been standing where he could easily step onto the dock from the boat; jumping around on a boat has no place. The guy holding onto the shroud is the guy who should have had the line in hand.
