I graduated college in 2019. I did it all by myself, joined americorps (got a scholarship of 5500) then graduated in 3 years with a 4 year degree and earned 16000 in scholarships. Still pay 200 a month and it’s extremely difficult given rent in my area had literally more than doubled in the last 4 years and is now 1600 a month. It feels like no matter how hard you work it’s impossible to make it if you are a Zillenial

Exactly. Cost is up by 200%, more at some colleges. You can have several scholarships and grants, work multiple jobs, and still have difficulty paying. I’m in college now. I’m around 25,000 in debt which is pretty good for a senior but I’m planning to get a phd or attend vet school which will costs significantly more.

@@DoorTrash: It's nice to be truly educated. It makes for a more co-operative and generous society. The native language of Scots is Gaelic. Scottish people invented the encyclopedia, the Encyclopedia Britannica, in English, so Europeans could see the natives of the new world weren't just running dogs with no language or prayer, worthy of genocide. Scots also gave the world the Holy Bible in English, the King James version, so Europeans could see what Jesus of Nazareth was saying, not what Catholic priests told them in Latin translations, and sending your best-looking altar boys to Rome wasn't in there. That started the Crusades that brought the Holy Roman Empire down. You can see what being knowledgeable and sharing it can do.

I like how they say "average difference of a million dollars if you go to college". But going to college to study something as pointless as art is not going to make you the same amount of money as studying something like engineering. Only go to college if the field you want to pursue actually requires it in all honesty I see people who go that end up becoming baristas, waiters or even musicians.

@@Veachie College is expensive because of how the federal government has made it incredibly easy to get student loans. Where because of that people are able to enroll in college in droves increasing demand for higher education and when you start having more demand for something the price for it goes up. Now if the federal government stopped guaranteeing student loans college enrollment would drop and universities would be forced to lower tuition costs. Now to your point about getting a BA then what that tells me is that job doesn't truly require the intellect of what you learned from that degree program. Because in reality you don't learn much of any practical on the job skills while you are in school. Most of everything that you learn you will never really apply unless your like a STEM major where I don't see the point of studying something as pointless as film studies when your not learning skills you care about applying when its time to work. Meaning you could have built a career in something else and not gone into debt, even if you study something practical like accounting and don't go into it I would argue that is a better college career move then studying poems and pre-historic history that you can learn for free online or at any public library. Because at least with real practical college majors there is ambition among the students in wanting to get a job and work hard to earn that degree. Which is why practical majors have you study way more then many stupid liberal arts degrees. Because your more likely to get a job right out of college from these harder more practical majors then you are with liberal arts degree where you learn hardly nothing real world.

I'm a Canadian in Quebec. Our two most well-known English language Universities in Montreal are McGill and Concordia. For US, going to either of them is about 2300$ CDN per semester...And McGill, if its was an American university, would be considered IVY league. There IS something to be said for taking care of your citizens. You allow EVERYONE to get ahead.. Not just the rich and the ultra-gifted. I personally, went to Laval U in Quebec city. Its been around since the mid 1600s. NOT too shabby.. Back in the mid 90s, it cost me peanuts to go to school.. Like everyone with the minimum grades to get in their programs.. On TOP of that, everyone that isn't filthy rich, gets the same government backed student loans and in my case (and MANY others), bursaries you never have to pay back.. The loans do NOT start to get interest on them or need to be repaid, until the END of your student life, even of its 30 years down the road, after 2 masters and a Ph. D. and you are ASSURED the minimum rate. When a country WANTS its people to succeed, it gives them the tools to do it...
