The Exploding Round

How to use an Exploding Round to build a new start on an existing piece that has the fit, feel, or structure you want your new piece to mirror. This technique replaces the Removable Guide Round for sheer simplicity, and has the advantage of working well even for people who bead very tightly. Best of all, this is yet another way to avoid a tedious peyote start, or get the RAW architecture in your start without having to build an MRAW Band.

This is all new to me. Can you explain to me why you did that. What was the purpose. Very cool but I just don't know why.

This is new to me too. But I believe it's when you have a bangle that's a perfect fit you do the exploding round to get the exact same size as the original bangle the exploding round was removed from. That's how I understand this. I might be wrong though.

Hi, Sara. Yes, I am doing it because I want to start a new piece. This is a method to do it in the round, without a join, and to make something exactly the same size as a piece I am already happy with. It's simply one more good option, with a set of special advantages.

+Kate McKinnon What keeps the removable exploded round from coming apart??? Don't you have lots of cut threads hanging off the removable strip??

If you think about it, each peyote round of a regular piece has at least two threads going through it - the thread from the round that it was put on in, and the thread from the round that follows it. If you cut only the portion of thread from the round in which the beads went on, that round will separate. Watch the Exploding Pentagon video!
