You should do a video about building an escape room, I’ve been curious about escape room puzzle design for a while, you’re the smartest puzzle designer I know of

You're alive!! I was worried something happened to you. Glad to see you're back at it!! I highly recommend anyone curious about puzzle hunts go do the full Dash-9 puzzle hunt. It was my first attempt at a puzzle hunt and it took me several nights to get through but it was so much fun. Quite challenging but still doable with a lot of patience for a novice. The eureka moment to the second part of this puzzle blew my mind, and I hollered out loud with excitement when I solved it. I strongly encourage anyone into this stuff to go try it on your own before FLEB shows it off next week, because it is totally worth struggling with on your own to get the payoff.

Hey Fleb, what is your stance on Portal? Will you ever possibly play it or any other puzzle video games?
@FLEBpuzzles7 жыл бұрын
Portal is fantastic! I'm starting a series on puzzle games. The main idea is to talk about the big ideas behind a number of fantastic puzzle games. I'm hoping the first episode will be a week or two from now. Stay tuned!

+FLEB Check out an any% (Inbounds) run of Portal. It's more mind-blowing than the intended solutions.

I went about mapping out all of the grids, making a sort of cyryptogram numbering the blanks, then solving for each word with common letters (Bannister clue was the easiest to start with), giving me the final letters to spell out asterisk, although I think I might have mislabeled one of my unknowns because the clue 4 ended up spelling separate as sepirate, but it still led me to the final word to arrange the pieces in their final form. I have no idea if the speed I did this even close to being good, but it was a great exercise and makes me feel like I still have some brains cells left chugging along...

I'm glad I was able to find the final answer before watching the whole video. But I continued to work thinking there was another step using the sample grid considering there are stars in it. Thanks for sharing it!

FLEB! Very happy to see videos coming from you more often! This puzzle was a lot of fun and a great solve. Just one question: I had believed the answer was "stars alignED", since the rule we have been working with is to ignore the first and last half of each symbol pair. This would mean our answer, being 7 pairs of symbols, should be 12 letters long much like the earlier sets of 5 symbol pairs corresponded to 8 letter answers. Am I misunderstanding?
@kevinmartin77607 жыл бұрын
I think I missed something in forming the asterisk. The first puzzle page produced 7 pairs of symbols but forming the asterisk in the correct order only required 6 pairs. I couldn't make out the pairs that you wrote onto the first puzzle page. Did you just ignore the pairing that could not be used with the other 6? Also, in the initial phase with the shape matching I would have done the matching first to see what letters I already had for the words. As presented I just couldn't get the word IMPOSTER out of my brain once it stuck there, despite it being a poor fit for the clue!

Was anyone else thrown by the starbattle from thinking that the symbols affected that part of the puzzle? I spent a solid minute thinking "This is impossible! All of the symbols except the first one match on the diagonal!"

While I like the Jigsaw puzzle mechanic I think that it is somewhat extraneous. Wouldn't a competitive team notice that each symbol is actually a combination of two symbols, decipher the code, and ignore the jigsaw portion?
