Rupert Sheldrake is the first scientist to do detailed experiments on consciousness and telepathy. He has concluded that the mind extends beyond our brain. He describes his findings in this clip from our longer interview.
Rupert Sheldrake, a previous speaker at Google, who delivered the famous 'banned TED talk', recently seen on the Joe Rogan podcast and Russell Brand's 'Under the Skin' Podcast, joins Rational Religion for a discussion on atheism, spirituality, and consciousness. In Dialogue Ep. 5 the author of "The Science Delusion" and "Science and Spiritual Practices," and originator of the 'morphic resonance' theory, discusses the big questions he encountered along the way. We sat down with him and asked him to distill some of those essential thoughts.
In Dialogue brings you fresh perspectives from a range of diverse voices challenging the status quo in science and society. It is hosted by Umar & Tahir Nasser, two UK-based doctors and founders of Rational Religion.

OMG...I ove Mr. Sheldrake - exactly how I feel and have known most of my life that my consiousness has kept me alive, and to alert others. To hear him express how I feel is simply outstanding. will keep up with him for sure....

This was a very interesting video. "Almost" makes me feel normal. I feel the feelings of other people nearby and get a read on them. Maybe it's just being highly observant, I don't know. My friends don't seem to get it. I'd really rather not know & spend a lot of time alone to avoid the overload. Exhausting and overwhelming unless it's a chill group of very kind people.

It is quite a shock, less so if you live in a third world country where such things are more common. I turned this characteristic toward healing.

The opinion of others shouldn't cloud your own life's phenomenons, I was raised with telepathy!!! "Believing" is the brakes of the "Analytical" mind.

Dr. Sheldrake, What do you think about consciousnesss being extended across time? And, how this might explain memory, false memories and goal achievement?

Is telepathy real...lol..well..it better be..cos i and a few friends have been communicating in our heads, 'visions', & dreams..all our lives...it's Natural for us & Yes...the Military studied & tried to use us..we are what some call Montauk children that survived into old age now. i am the youngest, age 68. We would be utterly brokenhearted to learn we have been mass hallucinating the Same Hallucination since early childhood. :)

Trust your intuition, and don’t be so hard on yourself dear heart. Energy changes form but doesn’t “die”-think if how rain changes as it falls from the sky into rain water. He’s not “gone”.

My first instinct is that if telepathy is real, why don't we see more prevalent examples of it? And that question is why nobody believes in it, you never really see it. If I were to guess, it would be that we are probably born with that skill, but it really isn't very useful practically so we don't use it and it gets sublimated. Let's say you want a piece of fruit out of the refrigerator. By the time you get someone around to you to telepathically get it for you if they were inclined to do so, you could either do it yourself or just tell them. Those are quicker and more efficient means of getting what you want. Telepathy doesn't make people do what you want. It doesn't give you control over others. Not a whole lot of power in it, really. Maybe cheating at cards or on exams or job interviews whatever.

@@GalaxyFluke Not saying there isn't telepathy, but what I am saying is that if we have it, it probably falls to dis-use because we've got better more effective ways of getting what we want in our daily lives.

@@ortforshort7652 I use it daily in my life. I consider it part of my intuition. I can’t tell you how many times an old friend was on my heart so I send a random text or call to say you popped in my mind and I simply wanted to send you good energy etc. so many times it is times that my friends need me or needed someone to check on them. But I get your point! I think it is more relevant for spiritual / metacognition type people.

"It doesn't give you control over others." (Let's presume telepathy exists , for the sake of this discussions simplicity.) What about the ability of some people to "read minds". So the ability to correctly feel the intentions, emotional states, desires etc.? You can absolutely use this to gain control over others (it's the knowledge about what drives the person. In this case the telepathy would be only one more tool to gather information). Think of that people that seem always to know what you trying to say or do in advance. Good manipulators exist, even without telepathy, you could be manipulated by one without even knowing ;)
