The Extinction of Criminality's Melee Meta

For a while, Criminality has been a game dominated by a gun meta. Why is that? Why do half of the game's weapons go completely unused by a majority of players? Diving into the history of the ROBLOX Criminality's Melee Meta, I find out why they have been completely wiped out of the question.
This video covers everything up until V2. I didn’t cover the Brawl update as it felt unnecessary since it had no change on melee use in the main game.

Criminality before was a gritty, harsh, "hood simulator" game that heavily rewarded and punished anyone and everyone that scraped by to survive Criminality now is the equivalent of a COD deathmatch server

Really wish that melees would have more features, like having hitting someone while firing flicking their aim, with combo weapons doing more flick stun after each hit and weapons like the sledge or fire axe just having strong flick stun

Frankly, some concept. Melee techniques. Unlocked by simply using melees, you gain some new attacks, abilities, and options. If you can buy attachments to makr guns better, you can spec to make melee better. Disarming strike. Forces the enemy to drop their firearm if they have one. Bloodlust. After hiting and enemy, gain increased movement speed, and not lose stamina while sprinting for 30s. Flechette: You can throw smaller melee weapons, which deal a flat 100 damage. The final item that would balance things The Ballistic sheild. Offering protection from low to intermediate rounds, this sheild would be heavy.

@PowerOutageGootraxian Yes, but when I say this, the sheild has two hitboxes. The glass window and the metal exterior. The glass window can be penetrated by 7.62x51 mm guns. Basically, Scout, Fal, Scar H, and other similar guns. It is only a very small potion. But once sufficiently damaged, it will break, exposing the slot for anything to get through. The metal portion can be penetrated by the BFG 50 and AWM. And if you aim it at the glass? It's lights out for whoever was hiding behind it. The sheild also boasts the highest stamina consumption for sprinting. But it equips surprisingly quickly for an item of its bulk.

I felt like the turning point for melees, was 1.3. This was the height when guns were Criminality’s top priority with expansion. 1.2 melees wills always be the standard for me, as they even the playing field. Now, the crate you are given feels more like “Take whatever weapons you get out this crate, and f**k up whoever is near by”. Melees just don’t feel lethal enough.

I was expecting the Brawl update to shake up the meta alot that or standard but melee only but noooo we got a melee anim revamp which is nice doesn't actually do much with little to no stat changes/buffs. I honestly thought Brawl would be the day of redemption for all melee mains out there but nah its never coming the glory days are over

Let's be honest. Criminality's skill ceiling is non-existent ever since you can just pop in an FPS unlocker with your ultra mega deluxe graphics card and have no recoil whatsoever, which pretty much equates to anyone not using a gun or an fps unlocker for the matter already way too powerless to do something about it. The game doesn't care for balance or for the fact that their community might plummet once Blackout or Havoc make their debut. Because it actually looks enjoyable and balanced.

Yeah, the gameplay is just dead in the water. No alternative gameplays because armor is expensive and often useless (stun grenade exists), melee is literally the topic of this video (spoiler: it's bad), so you're just left with guns, and now it's just essentially a COD deathmatch

This is exactly the reason I finally quit this awful game, I waited 2 years luke a fool for a melee update, and all I got was skins and mid animations, thank you TrashVVZ. Now, you forgot one important thing that killed melees irreversibly and no matter what buff they'd get they wouldn't be back: lunge being nerfed.

I’ve always disagreed with this statement, I always see melees as a high skill high reward weapon. Against solos or small groups melees can STOMP even the most prepared duo (except for tier 2+ helmets) My only gripe with melee is the sheer skill difference between guns and melees. Guns you can pick up pretty easily, just point and shoot. Melee has a much steeper learning curve, especially blunts where you have to account for physics and stuff for that sweet double stun combo.

On PDS however, the meta was katana, machete, metal bat and bayonet. At the start of PDS, you couldn't buy ammo, so the ammo system was added. Recoil also didn't exist. The charge up attacks didn't exist until Pre-Beta. The real reason why melee system fell apart was because GDI. He wanted a gunged game.

The recoil in guns was made since the ones that were in the game sucked. So they buffed gun dmg and buff recoil so it'll be balanced, also the Tec-9, Mac-10, AKU, and Revolver weren't in the game originally until the buff. The AKM was meant to be only for the URM, before the M4A4 became the main gun for RCU, the FAMAS was the first rifle, the SSG did exist but it got deleted. Taiga was also meant to be only for the URM, as a faster machete but without blocking. And the UTS was known as KSG.

melees started their downfall when all guns were made so muuuch cheaper, a glock which back then was cracked costs only 250 dollars that makes you able to fight at a solid range playing it more safe

Melees are the only good thing and the only thing i like about crim but guns made them mostly useless even after the brawl update, guns still outpower melees. All the brawl update did was revamp melee animations, added more child gambling and a new gamemode. didnt think id see anyone mention this, playing back then id search loot and itd give me a melee or cash, and occasionally a gun when it was red tier i believe, i miss when it was much harder to find guns and i actually had to save up money, but coming back to the game weeks ago, the first time i spawn it was next to loot and found a gun immediately
